riverview: activity points and rewards
Activity Points (AP) are a sort of OOC 'currency' earned through activity in the game, which can be cashed in for in-game perks for yourself or your characters. This system is entirely optional and has no relation to Activity Check. Activity Points are accumulated by submitting threads that you have participated in, which the mod will process into points, and maintain a running balance - points are accumulated per player, and a player's points can be used to get perks for any character they play.
Threads that are valid to be submitted for points must meet the following criteria:
● Be posted on
riverview,
riverviewlogs, the monthly Test Drive Meme, IC inboxes, or Friendr entries.
● All characters involved in the thread must have been applied for and accepted into the game (threads with dropped characters can still be submitted).
● While new comments on existing threads can be submitted, no individual comment may be submitted twice.
Neither threads or points "expire." There is no time limit for the thread activity to be posted, and there is no time limit to use points for rewards. Threads can be submitted for Activity Points at any time during the month, and submitting threads on this entry has no effect on your mandatory monthly Activity Check.
regular activity points
Each comment by your character in a thread counts for 1 point, with an optional extra point per comment that is 150+ words. Counting these additional points for longer comments is completely optional and up to player discretion. Top-levels on event logs, starter prompts in catch-all logs, and network posts all count as a 'comment' as well, and earn points.
When submitting points, players will need to supply the following:
● A link to the thread in question, with the names of all characters involved.
● The number of comments posted by their character.
● (OPTIONAL) The number of comments that were over 150 words long. This is completely optional, if a player wants to put in the effort of counting words.
Every thread that meets the criteria for submission earns these points by default, though threads with special content can earn lump sums of bonus points (see below).
bonus points
Bonus points are point lump sums awarded in addition to regular points for threads where players are participating in the major themes of the game, utilizing the game setting and game mechanics. There are three types of content that qualifies a thread for bonus points:
● Exploration and/or Monster Fighting (+50 Points per 10 content-containing comments by your character)
Awarded for any action comment containing fighting versus game monsters or in which characters travel outside the walls of the Inhabited City (safe zone) can be counted. Fighting between characters does not count for this bonus.
● Romantic or Sexual Content (+50 points per 10 content-containing comments by your character)
Awarded for any action comment containing reciprocal non-platonic character relations. Whether it is romantic and emotional but non-sexual, or sexual without any emotional connection, or any combination of the two, it will count for this bonus. Since this kind of content can be quite subjective, the mod will check threads submitted for this bonus and discuss with you if there is any problem. Regular platonic relationship building or one-sided flirting/pining does not count for this bonus.
● Mingle Post (+50 points for mingle post with prompts plus 5 comments participation by your character)
Awarded for any event that your character hosts, whether it's a personal party, an open mingle log set in your character's business, something club-related, or an open event-related top-level mingle in one of the holiday posts (for example, offering dancing lessons at a festival or hosting a booth for your character's business). To qualify, the mingle must have prompts for anyone joining in, and your character must participate for at least 5 comments in the mingle itself. Regular catch-all logs or regular top-levels in mingle logs do not count for this bonus.
Please see the list below for the items currently on offer. If you want a perk that is not on the list, just post a quick explanation of what the perk is and the mod will either deem the perk impossible or give you a price for the perk you requested. When a perk is granted, the mod will make a suggestion of how it might arrive, but how your character receives the perk is totally up to you. If you have a plot idea surrounding it, or there's a funny or canon-compliant way for your character to receive it, go right ahead!
Please note that these prices may change if perks are generally too easy or too hard to earn - this will always be announced before prices change. If you find that you no longer want a requested perk, and it has not been referenced or used in the game, you can trade that perk back in for the amount of points you spent on it on a case-by-case basis.
● Things From Home (25-1000 pts depending on the item)
Bring in a single item from your character's canon. Make a request and the mod will give you the price.
● Plot/Mission Lead (50 pts)
This will provide you with a little lead - for example, a stray bit of gossip, something overheard, or an improperly addressed email - that your character can explore and build into a plot or mission.
● Special Tech/Gear (75-500 pts depending on the item)
Allows your character to pick up rare special high-tech weapons, computer mods, or other gear that might come in handy for exploring or fighting.
● Body Mods (75-5000 pts depending on the mod)
Whether you'd like some grafted on cat ears or bionic implants, the doctors and techs of Riverview Quarantine can do that. Changes are permanent, but can be undone by submitting for another body mod to have it undone.
● Specialty Item (100-1000 pts depending on item)
Present an idea for a special item you would like for your character, and the mod will give you the price.
● Custom or Cross-Fandom Pet (100-500 pts depending on pet)
Either create an animal native to the setting or from an unknown world to be a pet for your character, or request a pet from any fandom. Pets cannot be intelligent enough to be appable. This does not apply to any type of common pet you could find in real life - players do not have to spend points for their character to adopt a dog, cat, rat, turtle, snake, bird, bearded dragon, etc.; domesticated foxes are also considered common pets in Riverview and do not require points to adopt. NOTE: There are a few other types of pets that have become common in the city as large numbers arrived through the portal with previous and current residents. Pokémon are able to be found, and Pokéballs are becoming available in the city, but please make some effort to thread out a capture. There is also a decently large colony of Porgs (from Star Wars) living in the city, and they can be found and adopted via threading.
● Business Bonus (150 pts)
Allows your character to expand their business into additional property, franchise a second (or third, or fourth...) location, or otherwise upgrade in some way.
● Setting Specific (150 pts for empty location; 500 pts for location with contents)
Allows you to bring in a location from your character's canon, such as a favorite restaurant or dwelling, a location from a canon that your character is not part of, or to create a special location for Riverview's setting.
● Cross-Fandom Power Sharing (200 pts to start; 50 pts per level-up)
Does your character envy the superpowers from another fandom? This allows your character to be capable of learning a power from a cross-fandom gamemate. The person from the other canon must teach your character the power, and it will start out low-level with each power up costing a little extra. Must be approved by the mod.
● New Power (300 pts to start; 100 pts per level-up)
Is your character a badass normal or everyday normal guy that you've always dreamed of giving a power to? This perk earns you a low-level power of your choosing, with each level up in strength costing a little extra. Power must be approved by the mod.
● Special Mission/Plot (500 pts)
The mod will build a special mission or player plot for your character.
● Additional Character Slot (500 pts)
Allows you to add a single character slot to your roster for a new app; can only be used twice to a maximum of 4 characters.
● One-Way Trip Home (500 pts)
This is per character, and allows characters to travel through the portal to a location and world of their choosing, with a scheduled trip time. This gives the player the opportunity to have their character say good-bye to pertinent CR, hand out belongings, etc. Also allows a character to be sent to another character's canon or to another place of the player's choosing besides their own home. Requires a drop.
● Round Trip Home (2000 pts)
This is per character, and allows your character to go home for a while, to visit or say hello to people they missed, or to actually live through a portion of canon for a canon update rather than updating in the usual way. The visit can last as long as you like, but they must come back afterward - this is a two-way trip.
● Choose Your Own (10-5000 pts depending on request)
If you want something that is not on the list, but that could not be easily found in the Quarantine as it is, make a suggestion and the mod will discuss it with you and find a price.
