Thanks for your question! It's not out of the question that characters could see people from species they recognize. The only limitation would be that it couldn't be a member of that species that they recognize or one that's presented and named in canon (whether or not the character is playable). For example, Beverly could see a Bajoran, but not Ro Laren or a Bolian, but not Ardon Broht.
