Yes, your character can definitely try to convert them into a distilled drug - if the character has the know-how then it could absolutely be done. If you app the character and are accepted, we can work out whether or not it could be replicated after the fireflies are gone and how a player-character drug trade might work in the game (if you want to pursue that kind of thing). I'm definitely not against it.
