character information ● name: Diana of Themyscira ● canon: DC Extended Universe ● canon point:Wonder Woman (2017) — Near the beginning of the film, when she embarks on her quest to find Ares. From one new adventure to another! ● age: SHE'S SUPER OLD... Like thousands of years.
The year is 1918, and a dangerous war rages on. World War I, to be precise. The daughter of Queen Hippolyta, Diana was raised on the island of Themyscira. This island, concealed from the outside world, is the home of the Amazons, a group of warrior women created to protect humanity.
One day, a plane crashes along the coast of the island, and Diana rescues the pilot, Captain Steve Trevor. After an extensive battle with a group of soldiers that chased after Steve, he reveals that he's on an undercover mission to deliver important information. Secrets that can help win the war. Inspired by this stranger's account of all the countless lives lost and those still in danger, Diana decides to accompany him to his destination. She believes that Ares, the god of destruction, is culpable for the carnage, and she won't stop until she fulfills her mission of defeating him and restoring peace to mankind.
● (original) world: N/A
● abilities:
Enhanced Physiology: Unbeknownst to Diana at her current canon point, she is a demigod, and her father is Zeus himself. Thus, as an immortal being, she has abilities beyond a typical Amazon. Essentially, she has enhanced physiology; she's built much "harder, better, faster, stronger" than the average human. She has supernatural strength, enhanced speed and agility, and enhanced durability. As a result, while she's not indestructible, Diana can tolerate the pain and exhaustion of physical combat without much effort.
Combat Skills: Diana is also a skilled fighter, compliments of her training on Themyscira. She was trained alongside the most gifted warriors on her island, learning how to fight with a sword and a shield, among other weapons.
● strengths:
Compassion: Diana is perhaps the epitome of the trait. She deeply values empathy and kindness, and she shows compassion to everyone. Her mission in the film is to destroy Ares in order to restore peace for mankind. Despite her mother's warning that humanity does not deserve her, she believes in the ultimate benevolence of other people and trusts that everyone is decent and good. Even when she becomes disillusioned later and doubts this vehement belief, Diana learns that mankind should be protected, not because they deserve it but because it's simply the right thing to do.
Determination: Diana is committed to helping others and saving mankind, which is an objective she never surrenders. She's incredibly stubborn and independent, willing to stand up for what she believes in without hesitation. Not only does she resist Ares when he asks her to join him, but she also defies her mother and Steve when their principles clash with her own. As she emphasizes in the film, "What I do is not up to you." She follows her heart and trusts her instincts, regardless of what anyone else says. For example, when Steve pleads with her to not advance in No Man's Land, she doesn't listen. Instead, she continues on without skipping a beat, regardless of any danger to herself. "Impossible" is simply not a word in Diana's vocabulary.
Curiosity: Diana is constantly curious, finding joy and astonishment in novel experiences. Whether it's seeing an adorable child or sampling ice cream for the first time. She holds limitless wonder and excitement, and she's happy to share this enthusiasm with others. Diana's curiosity is also demonstrated by her intellect, and she is quite scholarly in her own right. At Themyscira, she kept herself as informed as possible by reading all the literature her island possessed.
● weaknesses:
Naivety: While Diana is far from ignorant, she is quite sheltered, and thus can be naive. Although her mother had good intentions in wanting to protect her, Hippolyta isolated her from the outside world, simply telling her that mankind does not deserve her and trying to prevent her from ever leaving their paradise. Diana lives by a code of truth and honor, which is why she's quick to presume that the reason for the war is Ares. She can't imagine that human beings would purposely deceive and harm each other, and as a result, her innocent and good heart can blind her.
Judgment: Due to her naivety, she can be quick to judge at times. When she discovers that someone else has lied to her, she reacts poorly. Diana believes so strongly in the goodness of mankind, and when this unwavering faith is undermined, she's shaken. Any injustice, no matter how small, resonates strongly with her. Whether this is in the form of something as egregious as murder or something less extreme, such as social norms with which she disagrees. Thus, she's unafraid to speak her mind and inform others that she disapproves of their actions.
Tenacity: While Diana's unyielding determination also serves as a strength, she's often stubborn to a fault. Her perspective of morality is considerably black-and-white, at first, and even though she grows throughout the film, she still does not fully grasp the shades of gray. Or the risks and repercussions of her obstinacy. While she adores her mother, she rejects Hippolyta's desire to protect her, telling her without room for argument that she must leave home. Even if she faces potential death. She behaves similarly with Steve, and when he attempts to prevent her from pursuing her mission, she boldly defies him at every turn.
● job skills (optional): I'd prefer if she wasn't assigned a job for the moment, please! ● housing (optional): If possible, placing her on the same floor as Steve Trevor would be ideal. Thank you!
