Hi Em - Unfortunately, player characters are not able to be in charge of the existing special units. Much like Gramarye Magic Research, the Police Department, Hospital, or Government of Riverview, the special units of the Perimeter Guard play too large a part in the lives of large swaths of player characters to be handed over to one individual player character. Squad Leaders are leaders of smaller teams within the larger units that are still under NPC control.

Another option would be to come up with a new unit that has a different purpose in the guard, such as Captain Kirk's Aerial Unit or John Sheppard's RR-1 team. In that case, because the unit is not pre-existing and would be populated by sign ups, it would be fair to other players.
