● abilities: Astrid doesn't have any magical powers, but she is a more than competent fighter, strategist, and dragon trainer.
● strengths:
Self-assured: Astrid knows who she is.She's a fighter, a protector, and strategist. She's very direct and doesn't hold anything back, be it in a fight or when it comes to sharing vital information or offering guidance. As a Viking, she was raised for combat, and it's something she excels in. But she's also able to adapt. She's so comfortable in her own skin that when Berk starts to accept dragons instead of trying to kill them, she pretty easily adapts to the change. She doesn't have an identity crisis, she just shifts her skills and strengths to better fit the new status quo.
Loyal: Where her friends and her people are concerned, Astrid is incredibly loyal. She would do anything to help them in times of need. This includes going against orders if she feels another course of action (like following hiccup's lead) is better. It also means that if she feels she's fallen short in her duty to protect Berk, she'll do anything she can to make it up to her people. Her duty is important to her, and she'll do whatever she needs to in order to ensure her friends, dragon, and people are safe. Even if it might hurt her in the process.
Driven: Astrid is a hard worker through and through. If there's something she wants to achieve, she will give the task her all. It can sometimes lead to tunnel-vision and over-competitiveness, but on the whole, her drive is a strength. Because she's not just driven to succeed. She pushes herself to be better, whether it be a better fighter, a better friend, or a better strategist. She might not realize her own shortcomings sometimes, but once she does? She will work hard to better herself.
● weaknesses:
Pride: Astrid has a strong sense of pride, both for herself and the people of Berk. While pride isn't necessarily a bad thing, hers has definitely gotten in the way of things on more than one occasion and has led to situations that put herself, her friends, and her home in danger. Her pridefulness also means that she takes bad things that happen, that she could have prevented, and blames herself for them, like when berk is attacked while she and the other dragon riders are away, leading to her harshly training an auxiliary dragon riding team.
Short-Tempered: While she has become slightly less hotheaded as she's grown up, it's still a part of who she is. She can get frustrated and snap at her friends, or hold grudges when she feels a slight goes too far.
Dismissive: She can also be dismissive of ideas or people that she doesn't feel meet her standards. This is especially true for the Thorston twins, who rarely take anything seriously. So when they do have ideas, Astrid shrugs them off to go with what she feels is a better plan, which has come back to bite her more than once.

Uh...hey, everyone. [ She gives the video a little wave, almost uncertain. Astrid considers herself an adaptable person, but at the same time...well, this device is a lot to get used to. She feels like she's talking to herself? Which would be pretty mortifying. ]
My name is Astrid Hofferson. I know the flooding's caused some problems for the people here, and while I'm still new around here, I know I can help. [ She smiles. ] I'm a Viking, so. Yeah, I'm no stranger to disasters.
Just let me know where you need me and I'll be there. Yup.
[ She considers using a proper sign-off or something but decides at the last minute that what she's said already is good. This isn't a letter, after all, so... ]
