applications: open

Applications will be open from 10:00 PM EST on the 1st of every month until 10:00 PM on the 7th of every month. They will be processed as quickly as possible after they are submitted; if you have not received a response by the 10th of the month, feel free to contact the mod.

Applications will be open from October 1st until December 7th, and will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.

● Please post the entirety of your application in a comment to this entry.

Applications may receive a verdict of Approved, Declined, or Revisions.

Declined applications can be reworked and resubmitted during the next application cycle. If an application is declined 3 times, it cannot be resubmitted.
Revisions must be submitted within 48 hours of the revision request being sent out. If this is impossible due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mod.

● There are currently 58 Character Slots still available in the game.

● While the game is close to character cap, reserved applications will be processed before unreserved applications, with unreserved applications being processed at the end of the cycle until cap is reached.

Application Queue: All applications that would put the game over character cap will be placed in the queue below and processed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applications in queue will be processed as drops happen, regardless of whether the application cycle is complete.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 02/03/2018: The Strengths and Weaknesses sections are a stand-in for the usual personality section and should relate to the character's personality strengths and weaknesses. These sections should not include anything related to abilities and the weaknesses should not be 'positives in disguise' (for example, stating that a character has a weakness to iron because they are a fairy would not be an acceptable response to the weaknesses section, nor would stating that a character is too generous). abilities:
➝𝙿𝚁𝙾𝙵𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻 𝙵𝙸𝙶𝚄𝚁𝙴 𝚂𝙺𝙰𝚃𝙴𝚁: Yuuri has competed professionally and internationally in various figure skating competitions. He has won (and lost) a variety of medals and is a national icon for Japan. He is particularly skilled at complicated step sequences and maintaining stamina throughout enduring programs.

➝𝙿𝚁𝙾𝙵𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻𝙻𝚈 𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙸𝙽𝙴𝙳 𝙳𝙰𝙽𝙲𝙴𝚁: He has actually been professionally trained in ballet for longer than he has in figure skating. Throughout the show, he is shown to be highly skilled in various fields of dance including pole dancing, break dancing, and potentially waltzing.

➝𝙰𝚃𝙷𝙻𝙴𝚃𝙸𝙲.....𝚄𝚂𝚄𝙰𝙻𝙻𝚈: When it's in-season for figure skating, Yuuri's body is in tip-top shape as one would expect for a professional athlete. He works rigorously at keeping himself in shape but apparently (according to the stage event) he sometimes gains a bit of weight back in the off-season.

➝𝙱𝙸𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙶𝚄𝙰𝙻: Yuuri is capable of speaking both Japanese and English. He is also capable of speaking some Russian and Thai.

strengths:
➝𝙲𝙾𝙼𝙿𝙴𝚃𝙸𝚃𝙸𝚅𝙴: Yuuri is an unrelenting force when he wants to win. He respects and cherishes the relationships he's made through figure skating but he won't let them hinder how hard he hits the ice when it's time to compete. He won't hold back just because he's going up against his best friend. He loves to win and his competitive nature has been known to reinforce his determination and, at times, stubbornness.

➝𝙱𝙸𝙶𝙶𝙴𝚂𝚃 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝚁𝚃: Although Yuuri's fragility is often seen as a wholly negative thing, it should be noted that his heart is a definite strength. He's generous with his compassion and when he loves, he loves wholly and earnestly. He's a loyal and good friend as well as lover. His love is a crucial part to the entirety of his theme in the show and that has a fixed basis in his open heart. It does make him much more emotional, but at various times in the show, his emotional displays on the ice are the reason judges rate him higher than they might have otherwise despite his flaws in the routine.

➝𝚁𝙴𝚂𝙾𝙻𝚅𝙴: He struggles often with feelings of failure and anxiety, but with the right motivation, Yuuri can overcome some of the worst mental blockades, like at the beginning of the show when he pulled himself out of a long winded depression in order to skate again. He can take criticism in stride and is constantly eager to improve himself. He is capable of pulling himself out of deep depression. After meeting Viktor, he becomes even more capable of hardening his resolve and pulling through to make it to the ice and do what he has to do.

weaknesses:
➝𝙼𝙴𝙽𝚃𝙰𝙻 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝙻𝚃𝙷: Most of Yuuri's weaknesses stem from the problem of Yuuri's mental health. He suffers from both anxiety and depression and there are several instances in the show where both are shown in startling clarity. His moods can influence his weight, his attitude towards skating, and his attitude towards other people as well. His depression can make him feel unmotivated and uninterested in doing much of anything, but thankfully he seems to be able to work through it.

➝𝙶𝙻𝙰𝚂𝚂 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝚁𝚃: His mental health is one thing, but it seems that it's Yuuri's actual personality to be more sensitive than most of the other characters introduced on the show. He feels deeply, both positively and negatively, and this is reflected through his occasional moments of crippling self-doubt and his emotions have a bad habit of catching up to him. There are many moments in the show where he's overthinking his feelings while skating his program, but it also shows this both positively and negatively.

➝𝙲𝙾𝙻𝙳𝙽𝙴𝚂𝚂/𝚂𝙷𝚈𝙽𝙴𝚂𝚂: Despite his big heart, Yuuri can actually take quite a while to warm up to other people. His friendships are enduring but they come from deeply rooted trust built from important moments and connections. Yuuri is easily put off by other people, and he often feels shy and reserved. He has a tendency to grow cold when he feels vulnerable or uncomfortable, which to others can come off as unfriendly or uninterested.

Then again, that was a thought that Yuuri seemed to have anytime he took to the ice. Or in this case, the stage. Not that the rickety table he stood on could really constitute as a stage but with how Viktor was screaming for him, it might as well have been the Bolshoi Theater itself.

He really should have taken those three extra shots of tequila. Tequila was gentle and good to him. It was his affair from champagne and God was it good to him. He wobbled on his legs and realized that maybe the table wasn't so rickety- maybe he was rickety.

Yuuri took a deep breath, swallowing his nerves down and shutting his eyes. A familiar song was tapping out over the speakers, crackling into the smoky air. He began to sway his hips back and forth. Then he slid his legs apart and the world tipped.

No, it literally tipped. Yuuri gave a shriek as the table lurched under him. 'Eating shit' really didn't describe what it felt like to suddenly have a face full of soggy bar floor.

As he heard Viktor shouting his name, the last thing he could think was: So the table really was rickety.)

abilities: She has empathic abilities, allowing to her to sense and even feel the emotions of those she touches. Mantis also has the ability to alter the emotions of others via touch, including the inducement of sleep, or compliance, but her powers have limits and are only temporary. She is also hardy in terms of an ability to withstand injury and maintain balance.

strengths: Aside from the previously mentioned abilities, Mantis possess a certain (somewhat newly discovered) moral strength of character, and a strong desire to learn and grow beyond the rather isolated life she has thus far lived. She is generally non-threatening, if that could be considered a strength, and very forgiving. Mantis is also usually willing to capitulate to most any authority figure or authoritative figure in her vicinity (though this can of course be a double-edged sword). In general, she’s pretty delighted with any new experience (which is a lot of them), and eager to be helpful.
weaknesses: Mantis is shy and completely socially unexperienced, as well as unexperienced with any world outside of the planet she grew up on. As such she’s prone to obliviousness and mistakes, and often the point has a tendency to escape her, but she makes a genuine effort. She’s not really the best at expressing herself verbally, and as the nature of her most-prominent abilities would suggest, Mantis can be pretty emotional.

job skills (optional): She’s good at helping to calm minds and help people sleep? On the other hand, she’d probably be pretty terrifying as a counselor or a therapist. Is there a market for subduing people? She would totally offer sleep therapy sessions. That’s not creepy at all.

[There is a strange excitement vibrating through her, and Mantis lets loose an involuntary giggle and feels the wind whipping her hair back over her shoulders as she leans out over the edge of the balcony wall and stares down at the sea of greenery that engulfs everything. There is so much here, so many beings, so much life - real life – not the life Ego created for himself but true, organic life.

She finds it invigorating, surrounded by it all. So many people, feeling so many different things, and Mantis wants to feel them all. The head-rush of it all, the abundance of freedom and choices she now possesses is so far from what she has always known that Mantis can’t control the nervous, fluttery, nauseous feeling that accompanies it]

Instead of waking up in the hospital ward of the New York Institute after receiving a wound from a demon (and being possessed), Izzy woke up in Wayward Pines with no memory of the injury itself or of how she got there. She didn't remember the accident that she was told she was in, just her name, her family, and some bits and pieces about her life. Fortunately, when she was released from the hospital she found someone that managed to not only fill in a few blanks, but jog some other memories: Magnus Bane.

Realizing that her brother and his 'husband' were there Izzy and her family members put the pieces together in the only way that made sense. Obviously, Izzy had come to escape her own troubles in New York with the Lightwood parents. Plus, she missed her brother, so coming to stay with him and her new brother-in-law made sense at the time. Though the town of Wayward Pines had rules against discussing the past the Lightwood siblings, and Alec's spouse, toed the line when it came to discussing the past--finding ways to work around it when the could. Overall, though, they settled into the mundane (normal human) life and, for once, they were just normal without the pressures of being Lightwoods or shadowhunters.

Slowly, but surely, Izzy started to notice some strange differences between the way that Alec remembered things and the way that she did. She was also struck, quite literally, with memories (at random) of people that she met when she first arrived into Wayward Pines--before she supposedly wound up in the hospital. Things in Wayward Pines didn't quite add up, but like the family she came to stay with Izzy focused on living as a mundane and ignored the things that didn't add up initially--finding the boutique that she had opened up and focusing on that and integrating into the community while suppressing some of her natural urges to investigate.

At least, until the monsters attacked the quaint little town. It sent Izzy right back into shadowhunter mode to protect the other citizens. Izzy fought alongside her brother, Magnus, and others to make the hospital a safe zone. These monsters broke Izzy out of the mundane life that she had settled into and brought who she had been raised and trained to be back to the surface without hesitation. She remembered some of the pieces about herself that eluded her, that she hadn't even quite realized were just out of grasp.

And then the battle was over and the truth came out, bringing with it many questions as to what was real and what wasn't...and the reminder of the discrepancies in the memories of her brother. The quaint town that she supposedly traveled wasn't the little piece of normalcy that she had come to accept. They had all been lied to, manipulated, and kept on the arc, safe from the deadly mutagen outside the walls, but completely in the dark up until then.

abilities:
Isabelle isn't just your average human. She's a shadowhunter. What does this mean? This means that Izzy is a nephilim, basically. This means that she was born not only with human blood, but with angel blood as well. Isabelle Lightwood comes from a long line of prestigious and important nephilim, at that, meaning that she carries pressure to be the best and lead even among other shadowhunters. The task of shadowhunters being to preside over the Shadow World and the demons and downworlders that inhabit that world. Nephilim keep the peace and assure that all of this is hidden from the mundanes, the average humans. Shadowhunters aren't expected to do this with little to help, though, because nephilim are born with a few special abilities to help them achieve their goals:
Physiology: Nephilim are born enhanced physically and mentally in comparison to mundanes. This means that Isabelle has more strength, more agility, more stamina, and an increased coordination that an average human would ever have. She is by no means some all-capable and all-powerful being, but through training and practice she's mastered a complete control over her body and what she's physically capable of doing. She can push harder, train longer, jump higher, run faster, run further, and do things that not even some of the most advanced of humans would be able to do. Some of this is just naturally endowed on her through the blood that courses through her veins and what isn't comes through other means. This also means that Izzy is built to fight; with all of these physical enhancements she is literally bred for hand-to-hand combat and to be able to handle a lot when it comes to fighting. Despite all of this, she is still mortal and though she can endure more, she can be fatally wounded and killed.
Runes/Runic Magic: Runes are one of the ways that push nephilim into the advanced area that they fall into. What they aren't naturally endowed with through the angelic blood they can give themselves through marks that the use of a stele. The runes that shadowhunters apply to their skin give the user an added push in whatever way that the rune stands for. There are runes for stealth, camouflage, etc. These marks that they apply to their skin do not harm them (though they are somewhat painful to apply initially) and remain where they are put to be called upon again whenever the shadowhunter might need them in the future.
Sight: Because she is a nephilim, Isabelle has the ability to see through magical illusions and glamours. You can't hide who you are from her through those means. This is a skill that didn't come naturally, but with focus and years of preparation and training comes relatively automatic at this point. Being a shadowhunter that was trained from the moment she was born, it is extremely hard to get any sort of magical means of hiding who you are in any way passed Isabelle. She can see through those and traps of the same ilk easily. It doesn't require an actual access to any rune, just concentration.
Heavenly Weapons: As an individual with angelic blood she can handle the heavenly weapons. It almost goes without saying that your average person can't use these to their utmost potential, but Izzy can wield them all effectively and sillfully through both her enhanced physical means and the years of training that she has under her belt. No other species can wield them to their proper effect but nephilim. One example of such a weapon is a seraph blade.

Outside of her natural given talents that come from being a Nephilim, Izzy has several other abilities and skills that are specific to her. These aren't necessarily magic so much as they come from time and practice, plus education. The following are examples of these talents:
Electrum Whip Expert: Izzy has mastered the use of an electrum whip; she wears the whip that she uses as a bracelet that turns into the whip when she needs it. Because her experience with it and the massive amount of training, the whip is her preferred weapon of choice. It is definitely her go-to in battle; she only moves onto the other weapons that she is capable of using when the whip isn't an option for whatever reason or it needs to be a blade of some sort. Isabelle can use the whip not only in fighting, but in creative ways to help take out enemies stealthily.
Forensic Pathology: Izzy is a trained and educated Forensic Pathologist. Her brothers have boasted that she is the best one in New York. At the New York institute she performs the autopsies on shadowhunters and downworlders alike; she's aware of the physiology of people as well as of downworlders of various types that wind up in the institute for examination. This means that she has medical training that she worked hard to learn. Isabelle is passionate about this job and she is curious about each and every autopsy she does, determined to find the cause of death. She examines not only the body but any evidence that comes from the body using various lab equipment.
Bilingual: Izzy speaks both English and Spanish fluently. She's also well-versed in medical terminology. Though speaking with fae is not another language she is also keenly aware of phrasing when it comes to different sorts of downworlders and how to communicate with them to get what she wants, or needs.
Manipulation/Information Gathering: Izzy is a skilled seductress and is highly trained when it comes to getting information out of others. She can do so not only through seduction, but through whatever means necessary. She's extremely good at getting what she wants through whatever means that she needs to use. Isabelle does what she has to do when she has to do it for herself, her brothers, the Clave, or whatever. This comes from her personality and through learning about people and growing rather than through specific training, though.

Both Izzy and her brother Alec have been trained in all of the administrative, political, and other skills, policies, and laws so that they are prepared to run the New York Institute. Izzy and Alec have been doing so for some time already, actually. She has various experiences with computers, technology, and everything that is needed to run the institute. Some other various odd and ends skills that Izzy can boast are: high fashion, dancing, make up, party planning, organization, and a multitude of other skills that fall under some of the skills and areas that have already been listed.

strengths:
Confidence: No matter what Izzy is doing she does it with confidence, whether she feels completely confident or not. Overall, Izzy is confident in her training, what she knows, and her abilities and whens he isn't she's really good at faking it until she makes it. Izzy doesn't doubt the decisions she makes, the clothes she wears, or anything. She moves forward with confidence until she manages to feel it. This feeds into the fact that she is very outgoing and confident when interacting with, approaching, and getting to know others as the social butterfly that she is. She's confident so it's easy for her to just go for it with other people to get to know them or whatever.
Stubbornness/Determination: Izzy doesn't give up. She's extremely stubborn and determined whether it comes to people, something she wants, or whatever. Izzy is not the person that gives up, instead pursuing it with everything in her being until she gets the outcome that she sees. When she really sets her mind to it Izzy makes it happen, period. Though this can also be a negative trait it is something that is a strength because Izzy makes things happen for herself, and others through this.
Compassion: Because Izzy's mother was never particularly loving toward her Izzy freely gives out affection, friendship, love, and general care and concern to others as a way to make up for what she wasn't given. She will actively comfort others if she sees that something is wrong and often channels a motherly side--to look after and take care of those that she really cares about. She is so compassionate and caring that she gets protective, puts others first, is extremely loyal, and will do anything for those that have said loyalty.
Morality/Moral Compass: Izzy is often times the moral compass of her family/group. She has a very vivid sense about what is right and wrong; she will do whatever she has to in order to be sure that justice is served and that people aren't wronged. Izzy believes in doing what is right even if it means breaking the rules or if it takes a toll. She doesn't just take the easy road. Even within her familial group she can often times take the role of the moral compass when it comes to issues, even if not always, but she definitely has one that she follows the overwhelming majority of the time.

weaknesses:
Selflessness: Izzy puts others first, even in situations that she should prioritize her own needs, wants, emotions, etc she puts others first. Isabelle Lightwood, despite the persona that she can give off of being vapid, vain, and nowhere near as intelligent as she actually is will always put others before herself. She bends over backward to help those in need, especially her family, before even considering the impact it could have on her because she doesn't want those that she cares about to feel as if she doesn't love them.
Emotional Avoidance: She avoids her emotions until she can't anymore. For someone that has so much emotional intelligence when it comes to others Izzy doesn't share her own feelings because she doesn't want to burden anybody. This means that she avoids dealing with what is going on inside of her for as long as she can despite knowing that she shouldn't do this. She doesn't deal with her own emotional needs in a healthy way and despite knowing it she won't ask for help.
Recklessness: In her search for justice, and doing the right thing and despite being able to strategize and come up with plans, Izzy will often throw caution to the wind and revert to being reckless. She is bad about acting on impulse to right a wrong, or to try and fix something that the rules are wrong about. She has been known, more than once, to follow Jace into his own impulsive and reckless actions as well.
Stubbornness/Independence: Izzy feels as if she can handle most things on her own. This is both because she doesn't want to be a burden on others and because she's been taught, as a Lightwood, that they handle things on their own. People look to them to be the best and to handle things. So, Izzy takes that to the next level digging her heels in and being stubborn even when she should ask for help at times. Her independence is sometimes more of a weakness than a strength because she should rely on others and she's not good at setting that aside in order to do so.

abilities:
Akihiko is an skilled boxer, having specifically started to train in the sport to learn more about combat so that he could mold it to practical fighting. He is currently the captain of the boxing team at his school.

On the supernatural side of things, Akihiko is able to tap into the ability of his persona, Polydeuces. Personas are a personification of the user's innermost feelings and true self given form as a kind of spirit. Polydeuces abilities are focused on electric and physical attack moves, "electric" manifesting as lightning. He is also able to utilize minor to moderate healing, but utilizing any of his persona's abilities takes away from his own stamina as if it were a task he was performing himself so there is not room for recklessness or overuse.

strengths:
Akihiko is driven, aiming to be better be it for himself or for all those around him. He is constantly training to be stronger, and will jump headfirst into any opportunity to help others.

He is also extremely caring, despite coming off as one of the more professional members of his team in casual conversation. He will try to help no matter the odds; from wanting to plunge into Tartarus to save a classmate who had been stranded enough that his teammates assumed she couldn't have survived, to continually checking up on a friend who had actively left their group.

His upbeat personality ties in well with his protective traits, often the one to get his teammates amped up through his own excitement over a new mission despite the dangers involved. Complimenting this, he's no stranger to bad puns and dry humor among friends.

weaknesses:
The root of Akihiko's determination is his self-doubt, which can work in his favor but usually means he over-exerts himself in efforts to prove his worth. Even when injured, Akihiko tries continue fighting alongside his comrades.

He fears feeling powerless, linked to one of his largest failings in his fixation with the past. His sister passed away when they were children, and he blamed himself for not being able to save her. This forms many of the paths he chose in life, Akihiko fixation on improvement being so he can ensure he is strong enough to protect those close to him.

On that same line of thought, Akihiko can sometimes be seen as pushy about those he cares the most about, and what he thinks is best for them if he is worrying about their current situation. While Shinjiro is his childhood friend, they have gotten in multiple arguments due to Akihiko confronting him repeatedly about returning to S.E.E.S., and varying other aspects of his life, to the point that he actually does push Shinjiro into rejoining them.

abilities: Emma's abilities. Please note that at this point in her canon, Emma does not have the Dark One abilities. Also of note, while Emma is very powerful, she is only confident in certain abilities; immunity to heart removal (usually an instinctive response), telekinesis (recently learned), pyrokinesis (beginning magic skill), apportation, and lie detection (which in my opinion is a product of her upbringing and not a magical ability). She could later learn healing, teleporting, and conjuration in game, but that would be with mod approval, over time, with practice.

In Emma's world, all magic comes with a price. She would be mindful of that in-game so that she wouldn't have to face major consequences for abusing her abilities.

strengths: Emma grew up in the foster system, and became a teen runaway at a young age. The result is that she's a survivor with good instincts, who has learned every lesson the hard way. She was on her own for a long time and knows that she can't count on anyone but herself, and is very independent. Thankfully, with her family and friends, she has opened up and shown a willingness to lean on them. She is supportive of them too, and early on in her time in Storybrooke, volunteered to help strangers for no reason other than it being the right thing to do. Her difficult start in life doesn't keep her from wanting to be a good person.

Emma stands up for people who can't stand up for themselves. In her town, she's called "the savior" because of a prophecy. The responsibility attached to that title is something that Emma clearly takes to heart; she looks to protect others, even when it puts her in danger, and wants to be the hero that she sees in both of her parents. She is someone who others can count on, and who uses support system she has now to strengthen her.

She's also a good friend, someone who wouldn't betray a friend's confidence, and a good mother, though she makes the same human mistakes that all mothers do. She worries about being good enough for her son, Henry, and would never want to fail him. In times when she has let him down, Emma owned those mistakes and promised to do better.

For the people she loves, Emma would literally go to hell and back. She doesn't take the life she has now for granted, she keeps fighting for it.

weaknesses: As previously stated, Emma's time in the foster system made her more independent. Unfortunately, it also made her grow up too fast, and taught her early on that she couldn't rely on people. In new situations, Emma will protect herself emotionally and try not to get attached to people. She is stronger when she connects to others, but struggles with letting herself feel vulnerable.

While Emma's progress as a daughter, a mother, and a friend are pretty remarkable over the first few seasons of the series, there's a part of her that still worries she will lose the people she cares about, or be discovered as undeserving of them. She also, at this point in her canon, is not entirely comfortable with her own magical abilities. Her plan is to use them so that she can save her family and go back to a "normal" life, when she isn't a normal person and isn't meant for normal things.

There's also a part of Emma that can be immature and short-tempered. There are times when she'll offer up hollow threats and talk about punching people instead of getting to the point, or respond defensively when she should behave like a rational adult. It's fun to play her little moments of "why me", but it shows a part of her that is easily frustrated by tense situations.

Emma has grown over the years and improved in all of these areas, but they are still a part of her and pop up under the right circumstances. There's always a part of her that will be tempted to run when she's afraid of being rejected, and who struggles with the title she's been given. It's hard to go from being an orphan to being a savior.
