riverview: applications

applications: open

Applications will be open from 10:00 PM EST on the 1st of every month until 10:00 PM on the 7th of every month. They will be processed as quickly as possible after they are submitted; if you have not received a response by the 10th of the month, feel free to contact the mod.

Applications will be open from October 1st until December 7th, and will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.

● Please post the entirety of your application in a comment to this entry.

Applications may receive a verdict of Approved, Declined, or Revisions.

Declined applications can be reworked and resubmitted during the next application cycle. If an application is declined 3 times, it cannot be resubmitted.
Revisions must be submitted within 48 hours of the revision request being sent out. If this is impossible due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mod.

● There are currently 58 Character Slots still available in the game.

● While the game is close to character cap, reserved applications will be processed before unreserved applications, with unreserved applications being processed at the end of the cycle until cap is reached.

Application Queue: All applications that would put the game over character cap will be placed in the queue below and processed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applications in queue will be processed as drops happen, regardless of whether the application cycle is complete.

● Casts at or close to Cast Cap: Marvel Cinematic Universe: 15/15; Marvel Comics: 12/15

application guide

● Accepted character types: fandom, original, canon AU
● Non-accepted character types: fandom OC, AU
● The character limit is 2, with 2 apps allowed per month; players can buy up to a maximum of 4 character slots with AC bonus points. There is a cast cap of 15 characters per cast at this time.
● Linked samples should be no older than 1 year.
● Application challenges are not allowed at this time, but if you would like to apply for a character that is on reserve, please submit the application with "not reserved" noted in the subject line, and your application will be considered if the reserved application is declined or not turned in.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 04/02/2017: Applications must fit in ONE COMMENT on the application page. In special situations such as original characters or canon characters without an information link, please try to keep the summary concise and stick to major turning points. If you have been as concise as possible and it absolutely will not fit in one comment, please store the background section in an entry on your journal/musebox/website and link it to keep the application within one comment.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 02/03/2018: The Strengths and Weaknesses sections are a stand-in for the usual personality section and should relate to the character's personality strengths and weaknesses. These sections should not include anything related to abilities and the weaknesses should not be 'positives in disguise' (for example, stating that a character has a weakness to iron because they are a fairy would not be an acceptable response to the weaknesses section, nor would stating that a character is too generous). Every character has good and bad personality traits, please include both.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 03/10/2018: Linked samples must be from a publicly available source. Friends-locked samples are not acceptable for use (via screencaps or other methods), unless they have been unlocked and made public.

● A mod-created sample application can be found here. This is an example of a canon application. The strengths section has been filled out in bullet point form, and the weaknesses have been filled out in paragraph form - both options or a combination thereof are acceptable.

player information
name: Michelle
age: 25+
contact: PM
other characters: Stephen Strange (MCU)

character information
name: Karen Page
canon: Daredevil (Marvel Netflix)
canon point: post-Daredevil s2
age: 27 (i couldn't find a definite age listed so went with what seemed plausible)

(canon) background: wiki link

abilities: Just a regular human, here.

strengths:

resourceful - While Karen presents herself in the beginning as "not being smart enough", like she's just a regular secretary. In truth, she's incredibly resourceful and intelligent. She even managed to impress a seasoned investigative reporter (Ben Urich). Fisk and his people completely underestimate Karen as well as Matt and Foggy when she goes off and keeps collecting information on her own, slowly peeling back the layers that reveal what is actually going on. But she can't do it all alone. She works at her best when she has the emotional support of people she cares about. Without that, she gets too reckless with her digging and it gets her into trouble.

passionate - This goes hand in hand with her resourcefulness. It's what drives her and gives her the tenacity needed to keep pushing. To do the right thing and expose the truth so other people can't continue to be hurt. It's unclear if she was like this before moving to New York but her experiences in Hell's Kitchen (attempts made on her life and threatened/abducted numerous times) have made her want to be more proactive in her approach and dealings with injustice.

caring - Probably her most obvious trait. It's not just a sense of empathy and compassion for others. She genuinely wants people to be in a better place, to be happy. This is doubly so for people she cares about. She goes out of her way to try and accomplish this, even if it's just to verbally state her support or give a hug that isn't asked for. But just as she can be warm and affectionate with those she cares about, it can be turned into cold silences and barbed responses if she's hurt (as Foggy, Matt, and Frank should know).

weaknesses:

forceful - During the show, we see that Karen can be more than a little pushy with her ideals and how she thinks things should be. She never does any of this to be malicious. It all stems from a good place, ultimately. A place where she just cares too much - about people, the state of things - and doesn't want things to continue as they are (i.e. the apathy in Hell's Kitchen that just stands back and lets crime continue). The problem, however, is that when she believes in something so intensely, it makes her blind to the complexities inherent in either the situation (exposing Fisk's personal history) or issue (Frank's and Matt's vigilantism) at hand.

angry - For a woman as good as Karen is there is undeniable anger in her. Some might call it "fire" or "passion" but there is a distinct difference from the passion she feels for wanting justice and the anger that can seep through into her words and behavior, turning her bitter and cold. There are implications that this anger stems from before she came to New York (with the death of her brother) and was only compounded by the violence done to her (and others) in the city.

bull-headed - As dangerous as her being blinded by her own drive to make things happen, her stubbornness can be straight-up obstinance when people around her are just trying to protect her (Matt, especially). She doesn't like being told what to do; she will question and fight it because she takes it as an insult to her own competency. It can also be connected to the trauma and losses she's suffered, telling Urich at one point: "Nothing worse than choices being made for us." She wants to determine her own fate.

job skills (optional): Works as an investigative reporter in her world so good with research and making connections for a bigger picture. Good with tracking people down and stubborn enough to keep at it. Also bilingual with speaking Spanish well enough to carry on a conversation. Atheltic and resourceful, quick to learn and think on her feet.

housing (optional): Private (if possible)

Re: REVISIONS

[personal profile] fiercestwarrior 2017-11-06 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
REASON FOR EDIT: Hi, I know this is after my deadline but I just discovered that I misunderstood how the sections are supposed to work, I got it in my head that strengths and weaknesses combined had to be less than 300 words which was why even my revisions were still really scanty. Sorry about that!

● strengths:

Bravery: Her warrior training has lasted for centuries, and she is very proud of her own skill. It is important enough to her that even when deprived of most of her memory there is still something within her that is very pleased indeed to hear that she is a warrior. There are very few situations that Sif would ever run away from, and she clearly states a willingness to die rather than back down from a fight when Thor wants her to retreat from their battle with the destroyer controlled by Loki in Thor 1.

Loyalty: She will stand by the people she serves or cares about through anything, and many of her actions during her appearance in the Thor films are motivated by her fierce loyalty to him. On several occasions she breaks the warrior code that she holds so highly, simply because her friend needs her. She committs treason partly because she believes it is the right thing to do, but also because if someone she cares about needs her help she will do a whole lot to keep them safe.

Compassion: While she may often come off as cold she does on several occasions show that she is moved by the pain of others, and when she can she tries to offer whatever comfort she is able to. She is more of a listening ear and comforting words type than one to offer a hug or a shoulder to cry on, and she isn't necessarily the best at actually being a reassuring presence, but her efforts are genuine. She is a very honest woman, and whatever she says or does, she means it. This kind side to her does a lot to temper the otherwise harsh and violent impulses that seem to burn within her quite strongly. It focuses those sides of her into a wish and need to do good. To be a protector rather than a destroyer.

● weaknesses:

Abrasiveness: She considers herself to be dangerous only to those who are deserving of it, but the fact remains that when she feels threatened she will quite quickly resort to using force. She’s not one to phrase things diplomatically or sugar coating them. Sometimes this is a conscious choice, and sometimes she simply doesn't realise that what she says can be considered as rude. She is a classic example of someone who will say that they are "just being honest" when uttering statements that could in many cases be phrased a whole lot more sensitively.

Pride: Sif is at times overly confident in her own ability to handle things, especially when it comes to the subject of battle. Everything can be burning around her and she will still say that she has things completely under control, wich is literally what happens in Thor 2 when he arrives to help her out during a battle. It is very important to her to be viewed as a strong and competent warrior, and that can get the better of her judgment sometimes.

Volatile: It’s hinted at in the second Thor film that when Sif gets to partying, things can get more than a little rough. If Thor is to be believed she nearly started a war. When Sif lets go of her rigid self-control, things can get very dangerous. When she loses her memory for a brief time in agents of SHIELD she strikes a man so hard that he flies quite a long distance because he touches her shoulder. Her temper flares quickly, and while she can control herself she does have very strong instincts to cause harm when that happens.

Shouta Aizawa | My Hero Academia

[personal profile] eraze 2017-11-06 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
player information
name: Gemma
age: 26
contact: [plurk.com profile] gemmabean
other characters: N/A

character information
name: Shouta Aizawa
canon: My Hero Academia
canon point: Chapter 159, at the end of the Eight Precepts mission.
age: 30

(canon) background: Plus Ultra.

abilities: Erasure hero, 'Eraserhead'.

strengths:
LOGICAL - The highest compliment Shouta can pay to anyone or anything is to describe it as 理論的; practical, rational, logical, things that simply make sense. He thinks through every move he makes and is realistic about the likely outcomes, often playing three moves ahead of everyone else. He doesn't play pointless games of social politics, he doesn't waste efforts on things that don't matter, and he doesn't allow his judgment to become clouded by sentiment.

RESOURCEFUL - A particular strength of his is adapting to new situations and making the best of changing sets of circumstances. He thinks and moves fast, and even when things aren't logical as expected, he's quick to accept it. Change what you can, accept what you can't, and use whatever is to hand to turn the tables in your favor.

RELIABLE - Shouta's quirk is indispensable in high-risk missions against dangerous villains. He comes when called and can be relied upon to have your back through whatever danger. He's always there for his students too, who he's much more attached to than he'd have anyone believe - to the point of throwing himself into the line of fire for them even when it's not the most logical thing to do.

LOW-MAINTENANCE - All he needs to be getting along with his life is his goggles and capture cloth, his sleeping bag and jelly pouches, and some form of regular access to cats (cat cafes being his generally preferred method). He's not uptight, he's not demanding, and he's definitely not precious.

weaknesses:
LOGICAL - The biggest drawback of being so calculating is that Shouta generally expects things to make sense. They usually do. But people will be people, and therefore sometimes they don't. Since he thinks so far ahead in terms of what would be logical, when things are illogical that can throw him for a loop. He's also generally terrible at the emotional side of things.

INFLEXIBLE - In the world Shouta lives in, there isn't much room for shades of grey. He understands that the sixteen year olds he teaches are going to do stupid things, but still he doesn't give a lot of leeway. He'll expel any student he doesn't think is good enough to be a hero. He's also very strict about adherence to the law, flatly referring to Shinsetsu Man as a criminal even though his unlawful public use of his quirk only benefited people.

RETICENT - With all of this fondness for logic it can seem like Shouta is a very unemotional person - and honestly he prefers that people think of him that way. It's easier to be thought of as hard and unfeeling than it is to show his surprisingly nurturing side, or the fondness he has for his students. He doesn't like for people to know he's actually human under there.

UNFRIENDLY - Shouta can be more than counted on in a professional setting, but on a personal level he's not easy to get along with. He can be abrasive and brusque, and he doesn't mince words which often means he's just flat out rude. That and he'll tell anyone who asks that he's not particularly interested in making friends. It takes a certain (high) level of persistence to get near this one.

job skills (optional): Hero work (so combat and general peacekeeping) or training (hand to hand or 'quirk extension' aka helping people work on strengthening or controlling their abilities).
housing (optional): Private if possible, or indeed as private as possible.

network username: none (as in, the actual word 'none')

network sample: 1, 2

prose/action sample: I think this has enough action to count (and not too much ship-related content), this is shippier but also has more to it.

Makoto Yuuki | Persona 3 | Not reserved

[personal profile] fatedcontract 2017-11-07 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
player information
name: Tracy
age: 20+
contact: plurk - lenneths_wings OR PM
other characters: Ciel Phantomhive

character information
name: Makoto Yuuki
canon: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
canon point: just after his death/becoming the Great Seal
age: 17

(canon) background: Just The Journey
(original) world: N/A

abilities: Summoning a Persona (also the Wild Card ability which allows him to use any Persona at all. Igor says: "It is like the number zero... empty, yet holding infinite potential within itself.") He can carry 12 at any given time.

If he can't find a way to access the Persona Compendium in Riverview, these are the ones he brings along:

Orpheus (Fool)
Surt (Magician)
Scathach (Priestess)
Odin (Emperor)
Kohryu (Hierophant)
Attis (Hanged Man)
Beelzebub (Devil)
Sandalphon (Moon)
Asura (Sun)
Thanatos (Death)
Messiah (Judgement)
Metatron (Aeon)

strengths:

CALM - Makoto has an uncanny ability to remain calm is almost all situations, including having a gun pointed at him. And this is in part because he isn't concerned with living or dying.

STOIC/RESERVED - He rarely shows his emotions, or never lets them show so that it doesn't interfere with school or SEES operations. And when he does, it takes a great deal of warming up to people to let them see.

MATURE - For someone who is only seventeen, he acts older than he is, willing to go to great lengths to succeed in school, extracurricular, and even in saving the world by becoming the Great Seal.

INTELLIGENT/CHARMING/COURAGEOUS - Makoto has a maxed out intelligence, charm, and courage traits, making him one of the top students in his class and able to deal with almost any situation he needs to handle for himself and his team.

OBSERVANT - Rather than jumping into things head on, he tends to observe situations when he can or conversations before he's dragged into them so he can make well-informed decisions/opinions.

weaknesses:

MORBID - Makoto watched his parents burn to death when he was seven and had the Shadow Arcana Death sealed inside him for ten years so he ended up developing a rather dark sense of humor and a disregard for whether he lives or dies. As a result, he'll fight harder and more recklessly, even continuing to fight when he injured.

LONER - Having been orphaned as a child, he's had difficulty developing connections to people and instead avoid them, under the impression that everyone will leave him. A concept solidified by Pharos who tells him for some time that SEES will leave him too after the Dark Hour is gone but is partially ignored by the teen, especially thanks to Ryoji.

BLUNT - Rather than sugarcoating, Makoto will straight out tell someone what he thinks of them or how they're behaving.

PROTECTIVE - He's extremely protective of his friends and people he cares about or respects, to the point where he will throw himself into immediate danger and take it on himself to keep anyone else from getting hurt. (Example: Final Nyx confrontation.)

job skills (optional): Natural leader, mature, unafraid of death/dying, strategist
housing (optional): Anywhere is fine

network username: mementomori

network sample:

[Makoto has his headphones settled on his ears, music player hanging around his neck, but it's obviously not turned on as he starts recording a message.]

This probably isn't something you hear much but is there somewhere I can get a sword? A good one. One-handed, preferably.

I mean, there's a lot that goes on outside the city so being armed is smart and I can't rely entirely on my Persona's.

-well, I can but it's kind of reckless?

[Running around with a sword is probably reckless as well but he can handle that more responsibly than using a Persona constantly to fight.]

Also, any chance I can find a charger around here for this? [He plucks at his MP3 player.] I can live without it but music is nice to have and I like listening to it when I'm fighting.

Jon Snow ✥ Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire

character information
name: Jon Snow
canon: Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire
canon point: End of 7x07 (current)
age: ~23ish (canon isn't clear)

(canon) background:

Jon Snow at the Game of Thrones Wiki.
Jon Snow at the Wiki of Ice and Fire.
Bastardy in Westeros: Necessary information for a full understanding of this character.
I'm playing Show Jon, but Book Jon is pretty much the same character with a few small differences that have to do with certain other characters and events being simplified/cut/combined during the adaptation process, and with Jon himself being aged up several years in the show in comparison to the books. He wasn't much of a talker for the first few seasons, so I've used the books for valuable insight into his motivations, childhood memories, and inner life up through the end of S5 (where the show continues past the most recent book events). The actor playing him has done the same.

It's safe to assume that Show Jon has Book Jon's background and internal monologue except in the cases where they conflict with show-only events: e.g., Book Jon doesn't deal with the mutineers or go to Hardhome in person, and Show Jon doesn't swap Dalla's baby with Gilly's or have an attraction to Val, because Val and Dalla are relatively minor characters who were written out of the show. Book purists tend to think this means that Book Jon is more "ruthless and pragmatic" than Show Jon, but Show Jon also executes a show-only mutineer who's a child in his early teens, so I'd call it about even.

abilities:

❄ Excellent swordsman
❄ Skills with other medieval weapons (lance/spear, arrows, daggers, shields, etc.)
❄ Teaching medieval fighting techniques and strategy
❄ Horseback riding
❄ Strong swimmer
❄ Hunting
❄ Ranging
❄ Some stealth (within reason; he's not Solid Snake)
❄ Knowledge of battle strategy
❄ Knowledge of castle defense
❄ Administration/Command
❄ Diplomacy
❄ Well-educated for his time/place
Lovely penmanship
❄ Strength (including rare bursts of unusual strength/ferocity when agitated; this latter aspect is somewhat downplayed in the show and may or may not be supernatural. Some characters suspect him of being the reincarnation of a legendary hero, but whether or not he actually is, and what that would mean, is still up in the air.)
Semi-prophetic dreams about his own world/future, and dreams from the POV of his direwolf, Ghost
(Note: The dreams are a book-only thing, but that's primarily because the creators/producers of the show feel that dream sequences and flashbacks are awkward storytelling devices in film, so they omitted every one that wasn't central to the plot. Since the dreams don't really confer any in-game advantages and are mostly just a character note, and since they may come up in dream plots in RP and there's no reason to assume that the show version hasn't had them offscreen, I'd like to keep them as a thing he's experienced. There's at least one more dream than is listed at that link, and it involves protecting the Wall in armor made of black ice while wielding a red sword.

Also, if Ghost is able to join Jon as an activity reward at some future point, we might need to discuss then whether or not the related wolf dreams of doing wolf things can continue in this setting. Jon "feels connected" to Ghost in both the books and the show, but it's less explicit in the show.)

strengths:
Genuinely Good Person: Jon is an ethical, honorable man of good character and moral integrity. He's humble, kind, brave, selfless, resolute, fair, thoughtful, empathetic, and genuine, by both nature (in many ways, he combines the better qualities of his birth parents) and nurture (he wants to live up to Ned Stark's example). He loves his family, wins friends and followers easily, and is protective of those who need it. His current goal is nothing less than saving mankind, even if it means sacrificing himself.

Perceptive: Because noble bastards in Westeros have to be unusually careful to avoid committing social faux pas, Jon is observant, and has learned to analyze people's personalities and interactions. He notices things other people don't, has a correct take on the personalities of most other major characters he comes into contact with, and is often good at understanding the politics of a given situation. He's not infallible, but he pays attention, and other characters remark on how sharp he is over and above his intelligence and education.

Stoic: Jon will tolerate a lot without complaining, whether it's spending a long time in harsh conditions, physically hard work, bad food and beverage… you name it, and he bears it with easy, self-deprecating humor. While he goes through a brief phase early on where he's snobbish towards his fellow Night's Watch recruits, once he gets over himself and fully commits to the Watch, he doesn't seem to think there's anything he's "too good" to do. Even if he thinks it's hard, he does what needs to be done.

weaknesses:
Temper/Violence: While Jon is probably the closest thing his canon currently has to a moral hero, growing up dealing with the stigma and marginalization of being a bastard has made him sensitive to slights. His defensiveness has decreased with maturity and success, but he still has a temper and can still be provoked to violence. In 6x09, Jon is depicted as progressively (albeit temporarily) losing most of his humanity through the course of the Battle of the Bastards, during which he kills at least 19 men and almost beats another to death; the battle itself was about protecting his family and their honor and retaking their home. In 7x02, Littlefinger provokes Jon over Jon's difficult childhood and Littlefinger's obsession with Sansa, and Jon nearly strangles him.

Goes His Own Way: Jon seeks information from other characters when he thinks he needs it, but he's independent in decision-making and tends to ignore his advisors, and some of his decisions are unpopular. It prompted his murder when he was Lord Commander, and later, it frustrates some of his allies (Sansa laments that he neither listens to her nor keeps her informed). This ties into the third weakness, which usually involves doing something his putative advisors or allies disagree with.

Sometimes Stupidly Brave and Honorable: These are admirable traits until they nearly get you killed, as during the wight hunt in 7x06, when Jon guarded Drogon's flank against oncoming wights so that the rest of his party could escape, nearly died several times, and had to be rescued by a deus ex machina, or during the Dragonpit meeting in 7x07, when he risked sabotaging his side's entire plan (and his own goal to save humanity) because he refused to lie to Cersei about his allegiance to Daenerys.

job skills (optional):

❄ soldiering/guarding/fighting/hunting/ranging-type skills
(let's face it, he spent several formative years guarding a border wall)
❄ teaching the above skills
❄ administrative skills
brooding

housing (optional):

Shared housing with Daenerys. They're pretty much a committed couple at this point, or seemed like they were about to be when they were last seen at their respective canon points, so assuming they both get in, they'd want to be close to each other.

network username: j.snow

A network thread with Wonder Woman on another game's TDM.
If you need more, try here. [This one is with a Daenerys: I wanted to give you a little more character variety in samples, but I haven't done a lot of network threads with him yet. The continuation link goes to a log which could also function as a secondary log sample.]

prose/action sample:

[OOC: This is an amalgamation and slight rewrite of several consecutive tags from a PSL in which Jon has learned of his true identity and isn't quite sure yet what to do about it. At this point, he draws a comparison to another difficult situation and thinks about its outcome. Most of the omitted responses were just confirmations that she was still listening.]
"I want to tell you a story," he says to Daenerys. "I'm not sure whether you'll understand why I'm telling it."

He's watched the pained expressions flickering over her face and finally settling into something inscrutable. They tug at him. He wants to kiss her again, and doesn't, still unsure of whether or not he should, but he thumbs softly at her lip with the hand that rests against her face.

"I joined the Night's Watch when I was very young -- maybe a little too young. You go to the Wall and you train for a while and then you take your vows. Loyalty to the Watch, no wife, no children; it's a vow to be chaste and only death or the King can end it."

This admission in itself will probably lead to further questions when his story is done, but it won't be the only thing that does. He hasn't spoken of much of this before to anyone. There are some who know scattered bits of it, but few who know the whole tale, the how and the why.

"All I wanted was to be a ranger, because my uncle Benjen was a ranger, but the Old Bear -- Lord Commander Mormont -- wanted me for his steward.

"Still, rangers were disappearing, my uncle disappeared, and we found some bodies that came alive in the night, and whole villages of Wildlings were on the move. The Old Bear decided to do a Great Ranging... took three hundred men out into Wildling territory north of the Wall to try to find out what was happening.

"When we were out there, we met with a ranger from the Watch called the Halfhand, and I was given leave to join his party to look for Wildling scouts. We found and questioned one, and I was meant to kill her, but she was a girl. I couldn't. I was still just seventeen; I'd never killed anyone. And then the Halfhand and I were captured by her people.

"The Halfhand wanted me in with the Wildlings as a spy, so he told me to do whatever it might take -- whatever it might take -- to convince them that I'd turned deserter. Then he stole a sword and attacked me for my desertion, and I had to kill him." He hesitates. "They believed me a little more then."

The guilt of killing Qhorin Halfhand had eaten at him for a long time; it had changed him. He said I must not balk, Jon had told himself, over and over, to persuade himself that he'd done his duty and that he would have been a craven to do otherwise. Yet even now, the words of the telling still stick in his throat, making his voice rougher. He swallows before he continues.

"After that, I did what he'd commanded me to. I went where they took me and I met their king and learned what I could. They were trying to escape the White Walkers too, and they were planning an attack on Castle Black. But I had to prove that I was one of them, and that my vows meant nothing to me. The girl wanted to lay with me, so I did it, and then... I loved her for a while.

"I climbed over the Wall with them. I drew the line at slaying an old man who raised horses for the Watch for nothing but his gold. I got away and escaped to Castle Black, but not before the girl put three arrows in me."

He doesn't tell Daenerys yet that Ygritte was a good shot and might have killed him if she'd wanted to. In truth, he wants to tell her as little as possible about Ygritte… enough so she'll understand, and no more.

"When I got back, some in the Watch wanted to hang me as a traitor and deserter, but Maester Aemon spoke for me." He frowns, adding, "I think he was your great-uncle. King Aegon's brother.

"The whole time I was out there, and for a long time after I got back, I couldn't decide whether what I was doing was right. Was it wrong because I killed a man and broke my vows, or was it right because I did it for the Watch and by the man's command? If I felt something for the girl, had I really broken my vows with her for the Watch? If I left her to return to the Watch, was that wrong, too?"

Some of how this ended should be clear to Daenerys: he now has great allies among the Free Folk, and there is no hint of any other woman.

He moves his hand from her face to her wrist, to bring her hand from his cheek to his heart, where he holds it. His story isn't a threat to her; it's only a story about honor, about a time when it had demanded that he behave dishonorably again and again, about how the honorable path isn't always clear in every situation, even when he looks for it.

"It's not my conclusion that was important, it was the questions. Many things would have been different if I hadn't gone among the Free Folk. We wouldn't have the allies that we have now. We wouldn't have Winterfell. The Night King's army would be far bigger than it already is.

"I can't regret it anymore."

character information
name: Daenerys Targaryen (and many, many titles)
canon: Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire
canon point: End of 7x07
age: 22-ish

(canon) background: Here & here & further info

If allowed: while I'm playing Dany having gone through the show's version of events, I believe her chapters in the books up until the end of ADWD offer a valuable insight into her motivations and character that aren't necessarily made clear on the show. Emilia Clarke (like Kit Harington) does her best to convey what's going on in her mind through her facial expressions and tone, but that's realistically only going to convey so much.

abilities:
🔥 immunity to damage & injury from heat/fire
🔥 clever tactician
🔥 administration/ruling
🔥 riding dragonback
🔥 multilingual (at least fluent in High Valyrian, the common tongue & Dothraki)
🔥 negotiation & diplomacy
🔥 leadership
🔥 conquering places

The following is book-only, but I'd like her to keep:

🔥 dragon dreams

Separately:

It'd be great if Dany could receive her dragons (or at least Drogon) as AC rewards! Their size and/or power could be limited, if that might be an issue. The show and books give her an unspoken, empathic/psychic connection with Drogon in particular, as he seems to reflect her mood and/or know when she is in distress. There's a passage in the books where she screams, (during sex, admittedly, however:) and she's unsure if it was Drogon or her making the sound. Also, he shows up when she's upset and then later, to rescue her from the Sons of the Harpy.

The biggest difference between book and show in this case is that she needs neither a whip nor a magical horn to gain control of him in the show.

strengths:

i. but we are not men:
Thanks to a lifetime of abuse, Dany has a "gentle heart" when it comes to those the show labels as the "downtrodden." She starts small within her husband's khalasar, freeing women who'd otherwise be raped and enslaved. By the time she's widowed, she turns that into a full-on crusade against the Masters of Slaver's Bay and refuses to leave and pursue her own desires (to go home) until its slaves are freed and under their own rule.

ii. fire cannot kill a dragon:
Call it pride or confidence; she has both in spades. No longer a meek girl, a string of hard-won victories have emboldened Dany and given her the notion that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to; no matter the nature of the methods used, in some cases. It enables her to succeed further and even go against her Hand's advice and triumph where his council fails her, but. It's a double-edged sword.

iii. i will answer injustice with justice:
Dany's moral compass is rigidly set to do 'the right thing.' Grey areas don't exist in her mind for much of her arc, and she's challenged time and again on that score. It led her to feed men to her dragons and burn the Tarlys as an example. Questionable? Sure. 'Mad Queen' material? No.

weaknesses:

i. waking the dragon:
Despite herself, Dany certainly has inherited the bad temper which House Targaryen is known for. She lashes out many times at others, as when Ser Barristan is murdered and she brings a group of Masters before her children... and has one killed as an example. Or when Tyrion brings up the matter of succession, and she becomes chilly and fiery all at once in her displeasure. She doesn't take well at all to betrayal, and her dismissal of Jorah from Meereen is a great example of that.

ii. fire and blood:
That moral compass is also a weakness in that she can't easily bend and compromise. No, she's not a Mad Queen, but she is inexperienced in taking care with how she deals with complaints and complex issues laid at her door. A man brought her the bones of his daughter; she locked up her dragons. Mossador killed a Son of the Harpy, so she had him publicly executed. Both wrong things done for the right reasons. And both cost her.

iiii. my reign has just begun:
That same confidence that's such a well-earned strength is also to her detriment. She can't see how her Hand has a point... to a point after x many of his clever plans fail her. She thinks dragonfire can solve everything because it worked so well in Essos. Dany has a lot to learn, like it or not. How to do things in half-measures occasionally being one of them. Jon helps her a great deal in this regard, but she still has a ways to go yet.

player information
name: Jae
age: Old Lady (30)
contact: plurk is ninjae
other characters: N/A (Also apped with Sarah Wenham)

character information
name: Poe Dameron
canon: Star Wars
canon point: Post-Starkiller
age: 32

(canon) background: Poe, specifically, within the Star Wars universe

abilities: Preeminent pilot with a stupidly high pain tolerance apparently. Having been behind the stick since he was six, he has an intuitive understanding of pretty much all things airborne. Hand-to-hand combat training, Navy-certified with a blaster. He’s really, really good at learning on the… fly.

strengths:

Love of the Universe: He truly, truly cares about people. They’re his everything, in a way, the reason that fighting is worthwhile. There’s a lot about his life that he views as almost inevitable. War, probably death. But he defines himself by who he serves, the ideals he believes in, and the people he wants to protect. He’s turned his pilots back to fight a pirate fleet to save murderous convicts (Poe Dameron 6: Lockdown, Part III), runs out of hiding to try and save a man who’s already dead (The Force Awakens), and tells C-3PO no one is expendable when the droid offers to sacrifice himself to help Poe escape a bad situation (Poe Dameron 12: The Gathering Storm, Part V).

Team-oriented: Counter to what people seem to think, he’s humble in spite of his confidence. He regularly insists that every pilot he works with is his equal, particularly when they try to put him on a pedestal, and reinforces the necessity of having a good team at every opportunity (I’m not citing all the places this happens JUST TRUST ME). He has a sharp sense of humor, but one that’s kindly used. He’s a caretaker, which is part of what makes him such a good commander—he knows his people, and people in general, well enough to tell when they’re hurting or withdrawing, and will make his presence known as a confidant without pushing anyone to say what they’re not ready to.

Solution-oriented: Arguably, he thrives on crises. Regularly demands action of both himself and his peers. . If there’s nothing he can do about a problem, he’ll find something else to work on. Whether it’s upgrading a ship or scrubbing out an entire landing bay, doing anything is better than sitting on his hands and waiting for a solution to present itself.

weaknesses:

Obsessive: His dedication to the Resistance borders on the fanatical, a dedication that’s beginning to cause internal conflict with his passion for life. It’s hard to deal with “necessary sacrifices” when every sacrifice feels like a personal failing. The other side of that is the fact that he can find reason to pin almost every death, loss, or failure on the First Order (even while blaming himself), reinforcing his need to bring them down (Before the Awakening; Poe Dameron 13: The Gathering Storm, Part VI). His passion for justice has an unhealthy tendency to lapse into hate, but he also values a person’s actions over their history. Finn, for example—a tool of the First Order, but also the embodiment of the possibility for goodness to survive in dark places.

Impulsive: His love of creation outstrips his sense of self-preservation. He acts without always thinking through the personal consequences (see his reaction to watching Lor San Tekka get murdered by Kyle Ron at the beginning of TFA). He'll put himself at risk for someone else's sake instantly, without caring whether or not it might get him killed. Ninety-five percent of the time, his instincts are good — but when they’re bad, they’re really bad.

Emotionally Isolated: He doesn’t think about life after victory. It could be said he lives for the moment, but the truth of it is simply that he can’t contextualize himself in a galaxy without war. That’s part of the reason he gets close to people fast, and calls his squadrons family, but avoids the commitment of a significant other. Connections are important - but the likelihood of losing those connections is high enough that it’s best to stick to people who face the same risks you do.

job skills (optional): Mechanical engineering, piloting, general military action. He's a bad spy. Seriously, please don't ask him to do spy things, it always goes wrong.

housing (optional): floor 11: shared, empty room if possible

character information
name: Chibita
canon: Osomatsu-san
canon point: Ep 24, Season 1
age: Hard to say? He’s younger than the sextuplets but he has to be at least 21 to rent an apartment, which he has in canon, so we’re going with that.

(canon) background: Osomatsu-kun background | Osomatsu-san background | Osomatsu-san Episode Summaries | Chibita’s Wiki Page

abilities:
Normie: Chibita is simply human. He’s shorter than average but stronger than he looks, considering he pulls that big oden cart all by himself. He’s also got some pretty thick skin, both mentally and physically, and knows about surviving and making it on your own.

Cooking: Chibita is a great cook…if what you’re looking for is oden. Its his passion and his cart is his pride and joy. He’s aiming to create the best oden there is, and has many hours of practice and patience with the cuisine.

strengths:
+clever: Chibita grew up mostly on the streets, having been abandoned as a child. As a result, he was a foul-mouthed, capricious, mischievous trickster when he was younger, often joining the local con man (Iyami) in his schemes. This mischievousness now presents itself in the form of cleverness; Chibita is pretty quick on the uptake in most things, and as a result, is also rather good at seeing situations for how they are and dispensing advice.

+patient: He has to be, really, considering the people he hangs out with normally. Between the sextuplets, Dekapan, Dayon, Hatabou, Iyami and Totoko, Chibita’s surrounded by dynamic personalities that sometimes require a bit of patience and a willing ear to figure out what’s wrong. Not to mention that running an oden cart is no easy task, what with the rise of convenience store oden and the decline of street food stalls—but Chibita still returns night after night to try and achieve his dream.

+hard working: Despite literally living in the dump for a good chunk of his childhood, Chibita’s managed to pull himself up by the bootstraps and, through working extra jobs every day and tending his oden stand at night, managed to cobble together enough of a living to pursue his dream and rent his own apartment. At the end of the day, Chibita’s not afraid of a little (or a lot of) hard work in order to get what he wants.

weaknesses:
-temper: One thing that hasn’t disappeared from his childhood is Chibita’s foul-mouthed temper. Say the wrong thing or, worse, insult his oden, and Chibita will have Words for you. A good portion of those words will probably be swear words. And they will probably be shouted. He can also be a brat if he doesn’t get his way, having willingly started destroying part of Dekapan’s lab when he wasn’t given what he asked for.

-stubborn: Despite his willingness to help his friends, Chibita rarely asks for help himself. He’s very self-reliant and considers himself a person that’s “alone” at the end of the day. He’s unlikely to ask for help from people even when he needs it; partially perhaps out of pride and partially because it wouldn’t even occur to him to do so. Either way, it’s something he’s a little bitter about.

-one-track mind: He’s gotten a little better about this, but Chibita’s life is still very oden-focused. It’s his dream, and he has a hard time seeing around the sides of his oden cart sometimes as a result.

-soft heart: In some cases this could definitely be considered a good thing, but for Chibita it means allowing the Matsunos to keep coming back to his cart even when they constantly stiff him. He also seems to allow others, like Iyami, the same courtesy. Though he does yell at them for it (and, one memorable time, kidnaps Karamatsu in an attempt to make the sextuplets pay their tab,) he still feeds them readily when they show up.

job skills (optional): Cooking oden. It’s what he’s good at and it’s all he wants to do, and he would definitely emphasize that. He’s definitely is looking to open an oden stand here.

housing (optional): Preferably tossed near the Matsunos; either in private or shared housing.

character information
name: Gintoki Sakata.
canon: Gintama.
canon point: Episode 328.
age: 28.

(canon) background: Boop!
(original) world: N/A.

abilities:
✗ Skilled samurai: He's a legendary war hero who is feared by his enemies and grew up learning how to fight with a sword with his own fighting technique.

✗ Skilled at close combat & fist fighting: A good strong punch from him can send somebody flying across the room.

✗ Excellent physical endurance & strength— even though he's a mortal human being, he's hard to kill and has immense strength.

✗ Intelligent with military and battlefield tactics as a former patriot.

✗ Speed: He's said to be as fast as a ninja.

✗ Musical talent: He has a decent singing voice and has been noted to play the shamisen.

✗ 4th walling / Self awareness: Gintama is infamous for it, but Gintoki is known to especially do it.. with player permission.

strengths:
✔ Brave: Hardly anything scares Gintoki. He doesn't really like the dentist or ghosts, but he doesn't fear death or getting injured. He presses his luck with people and doesn't mind starting or ending confrontation when it is necessary.
✔ Protective: The most important aspect of his life is to use his sword to protect those who are dear to him. Without anything to protect, Gintoki considers his life empty with no purpose. He states his when he lost his mentor during the war and will gladly risk his life for the people he cares about.
✔ Loyal: Gintoki is an orphan, and being so, he is accustomed to being a lone wolf, but that doesn't mean he exactly likes it. Gintoki has a habit of forming his own family where ever he goes and has been known to sticking to the sides of people no matter what they do if they mean a lot to him. It takes time, but the second you become his friend, it is hard to lose him by your side no matter what you do.

weaknesses:
✘ Insensitive: One of his most noticeable and first traits of his personality is how crass he is with his way of speaking. Gintoki has been noted to point out traits about people that they could be self-conscious about, or make verbal insults to people he hardly knows. He's also infamous for going a bit too far with flirting and making sexual innuendos without much thought.
✘ Lazy/Apathetic: He is a motivated worker when given the right leverage, but otherwise, Gintoki prefers to take it easy and relaxing if he doesn't have to work. He has no problems sitting on his ass or sleeping and will sometimes avoid work in an irresponsible way so that he can do nothing. He also appears to not care about a lot of things, sometimes brushing off important topics of conversation without batting a lash.
✘ Childish: Gintoki grew up very quickly, joining the military when he was just a teenager and trying to survive when he was a child. That being said, he hasn't properly grown into an adult and show responsibility in all things. He's noted to avoid paying his rent and bills and using his money on frivolous things. Gintoki is also very argumentative with almost anyone, showing his immaturity. Gintoki seems to be aware of this, often saying he still has the "soul of a boy."

job skills (optional): He's a freelancer, so he can really do any job he's given. Gintoki has experience in many different ways since he takes on any job he is given back home. His notable job skills would be any kind of mentoring along with swordsmanship. All of these things he would not mentioned when being interviewed, but if he has the opportunity to work with sweets, he will gladly volunteer there first before anything else.
housing (optional): Floor 9, private housing.

character information
name: Finn
canon: Star Wars: the Force Awakens
canon point: post-movie
age: 23

(canon) background: a biography on wookieepedia. i include the 'Before the Awakening' novel content in my portrayal, but not the 'Star Wars Adventures' comics. they make things a little messy.

abilities: the wiki outlines the bulk of Finn's canon abilities. He was trained to be a soldier from early childhood- strategy, firearms, hand-to-hand combat, melee weapons, etc.- and consistently scored in the top 1% of his tests and evaluations during that training. He learns and adapts to new situations relatively quickly, if he's in the right mindset.

strengths:
- kindness: The Order viewed sympathy and empathy as weaknesses, but no amount of training could take those out of Finn. He was rebuked for going out of his way to help a less-capable cadet on multiple occasions, team-oriented to what the Order viewed as a fault, and couldn't follow orders to kill civilians. He felt grief when he thought Poe Dameron died, and sympathy for BB-8 when he broke the news. His instinct when seeing someone struggling is to try to help: something that made him think he was broken once, but that same instinct directly led him to meet Rey.
- loyalty: Finn's devotion is ride or die. He even felt attachment to his cadet squad in the Order. He cares fiercely for his friends, of which he's made very few, and would do just about anything for them. Rey, a prominent example, is someone he met within the past week or so. Yet he's so attached to her that he not only runs back towards the First Order for her sake (blatantly lying to the Resistance along the way), but he also charges Kylo Ren with a lightsaber after she gets injured.
- determination: When Finn makes up his mind to do something, he will do it. Finn knows how to buckle down when he needs to. If he makes a promise or agrees to an exchange, he keeps up his end of the bargain. As one example, he promised BB-8 that he'd get it back to the Resistance before bailing for a different system, provided it backed him up enough to get them both off-planet to begin with. Later on the Resistance base, he said he could lower the shields on Starkiller, and though he lied about his methods, he followed through.

weaknesses:

- dishonesty: Finn spends the majority of the movie lying to everyone he meets. He tells Poe Dameron he's saving his life because it's "the right thing to do," but he just needs a pilot to escape. He tells Rey and Han Solo he's with the Resistance when he never has been. He tells the Resistance he knows the codes to take down the Starkiller's shields because he needs to get there to find Rey, and they're his fastest bet. Things worked out okay, but those lies were pretty bad calls.
- fear: While fear isn't always a weakness, the way that it impacts Finn's choices through canon is. From the second he decides to leave the First Order, fear of their pursuit and retribution pushes his every action. His primary long-term concern is getting himself out of the galaxy, as far away from the Order as possible, and that doesn't change for a while (apart from expanding to include Rey). He was raised to view the First Order as the be-all end-all of power. Even when he's charging back into Order territory to save a friend, that fear remains.
- argumentative: For someone raised to follow orders unquestioningly, Finn has a big habit of digging in his heels and arguing with people. From Poe to Rey to Han Solo, if he's spent time with someone after leaving the Order, he's bickered with them over any number of issues, and probably while being shot at or pursued. If he hadn't been arguing with Poe about why they had to avoid Jakku, as an example, they might have had a better chance at landing on Jakku instead of crashing. Finn speaks up easily if he disagrees with something these days, especially if it's something he thinks will get him killed.

job skills: combat training.

(that's all he'd be able to think of. on the OOC side, he's not half-bad in leadership roles, and he would probably enjoy work that people find useful/helpful! job offers don't necessarily have to be related to his listed... skill.)
housing: anywhere in shared or communal is fine!

character information
name: Alex Reagan
canon: The Black Tapes Podcast
canon point: 304
age: 34

(canon) background: Wiki!
(original) world:

abilities: Alex is an award winning investigative journalist so she's got great snooping skills and people tend to trust her.

strengths: Determination::One of the things at the very core of Alex’s personality is her determination. It’s shown over and over again in the series, right from the theme that has Strand’s“returning one of 11 phone calls from someone named Alex Reagan.” That’s one of the first things that you need to know about her and how that leads into her persistence.

Empathy: Part of the reason that people tend to connect with Alex other than through her persistence is through her empathy. The closest thing that Alex has to a superpower is her empathy. This empathy makes people want to trust her (honestly even when they shouldn't) so she can get people who otherwise wouldn't open up about people or experiences that they've had. Her charm goes hand and hand with this and it's one of the ways that she gets people like law enforcement to open up files and cases and give her access to things that she really shouldn't have access too. It’s important to note that despite how many lapses Alex may have in her professional ethics, she rarely, if ever, attempts to manipulate people into giving her information.

Curiosity: A large part of Alex’s seeking truth comes from an intense curiosity. Her podcast is first meant to be about interesting jobs done by interesting people because these are things that she is curious about. The fact that Alex’s favorite adjective seems to be “enigmatic” definitely points to things that she wants to understand. Indeed, the reason that Alex lies to get back into Strand’s equipment cabinet to see those black tape cases are because she is curious about them, and of course what they mean to him.

weaknesses: Single mindedness: When she is on the trail of a story, especially one Alex is personally involved in (like the Black Tapes) everything other than that is tangential. Things that should be important to her like journalism ethics, Strand’s personal life and even the law go right out of the window especially if she thinks someone is hiding something from her. However, in many ways, Alex’s determination also makes her like a puppy with a bone. Determination and perseverance make her jump into things feet first and recorder out, even when cooler heads prevail. She is determined to understand what is going on around her, and to seek not only her truths but the truths of people around her.

Obsessions to leaps of logic: As her intellect and heart start to put things together, Alex starts to believe in demons, cults and shadow figures though she tries very hard to cling to Strand’s assurances that what she's actually seeing is “apophenia”. Her power of belief in the world is so strong that Alex starts to lose her ability to sleep which makes her obsessive tendencies even worse.

Lack of journalism ethics: Alex’s drive tends to drive her mental and to do things that she otherwise might not do like record Strand and Amalia without their permission, even when she said that she wouldn’t. She feels entitlement especially when it comes to the show and to Strand’s personal life. Digging into his personal life becomes something that Alex can’t seem to help but do, probably because she often feels like he’s withholding information, manipulating her or outright lying to her. She also breaks into buildings and things on leads for a story.

job skills (optional): Alex is an investigative reporter!
housing (optional): Random works for me.

character information
name: William “Billy” Kaplan
canon: Marvel 616
canon point: Young Avengers Vol 2, chapter 9
age: 18

(canon) background: wikia

abilities:
Billy’s abilities are. . complicated. He’s a reality warper, which is the basis for every other skill he’s shown. Billy can warp--well, reality around him. He has no basis for spells cast, and is mostly self-taught from self help books he received from Teddy’s mother.

Instead of having incantations like most witches would have to use their abilities, Billy simply chants what he wants to happen (IwanthimtobeokayIwanthimtobeokay) over and over again. He has improved his capabilities enough that he doesn’t need to repeat it anymore, depending on what spell he is trying to cast (flying doesn't need him to chant at all, nor does summoning lightening, finding someone or teleporting, on the other hand) and his mental state. That said, he is not able to cast spells if he can’t hear himself regardless of whether or not he can cast it without repeating them. This is the biggest weakness to his abilities. His other weakness is his own sense of self-esteem; Billy has confidence issues, rarely does he think he’s good enough. This can deter him from properly executing spells, and can cause problems.

Individual abilities he has been shown to use through his ability to warp reality are: flight, electrokinesis, cryokinesis, pryokinesis, teleportation, locating others, telepathy, and conjuring( clothes), illusions, among a few others.

strengths:
Billy is extremely powerful, enough that he’s destined to one day become what’s referred to as the Demiurge; he’s meant to change the laws of magic itself. He hasn’t yet quite discovered a limit to his magical capabilities themselves, but has found limits he has due to not being trained enough to do certain things. Billy can knock out numerous people at once, can locate others (although he does struggle with this particular skill, locating someone’s hard), can conjure new clothes out of thin air and can illusion himself into being someone else.

He’s very headstrong, which can be both a strength and a weakness. When Billy gets an idea in his head, he’ll run with it until he’s either proven (without any doubts) that he’s wrong, or until he finishes what he set out to do.

Additionally, Billy Kaplan is a very loyal individual. He’ll stick by those he cares about until the end of time, would do anything to ensure their safety. He loves his friends and family, and would do anything he could to keep them safe and happy.
weaknesses:
To counter his massive amount of magical strength-- Billy is still very untrained. He’s had a few months experience working under Loki (which, let’s be real, who trusts Loki to teach someone else how to use their magic?), but he’s still growing into his own shoes and learning what it means to truly be a reality warper. He makes mistakes, and given the nature of his abilities--when he makes mistakes, they’re generally huge ones. And if he can’t hear himself speak, he can’t use spells.

Billy has anxiety and depression. He gets nervous, thinks he’s not good enough, lives with the crippling thoughts in his head at most times that he’s going to mess up, he’ll do something wrong and something bad will happen, and it’ll be all his fault. With his magic, his words are also a huge concern for him; saying the wrong thing out loud, thinking the wrong thing may set off something that causes something wrong and bad to happen.

He’s extremely stubborn--part of that headstrong trait of his. Once his mind gets set on something, Billy doesn’t stop running for it until he’s gotten it--or until something happens to irrevocably dissuade him into thinking it’s an awful idea, which isn’t an easy task to accomplish.

other characters: eddie thawne, marco

character information
name: Dr. Meredith Rodney McKay
canon: Stargate: Atlantis
canon point: S5E6; end of the episode
age: 39

(canon) background: Rodney McKay @ Stargate Wikia
(original) world: n/a

abilities: Nothing superhuman, though he is an undeniable genius. He has two PhDs and his fields of study include Physics, Astrophysics, Computers, and Mechanical Engineering. Having worked on the Stargate project for multiple years, he also has a very strong understanding of the science behind the Stargate portals. Adept at deconstructing and reconstructing alien technology, and a very fast learner, he has already learned Ancient (very advanced human) technology, dabbled in Asgard (alien) technology, and would very quickly pick up the thread of how technology works in this new world and start adjusting, adapting, and improving it.

strengths:

☄ creative problem-solver: While intelligence goes almost without saying when it comes to Rodney, what's almost more interesting is his unique ability to come up with and enact creative solutions to incredibly complex problems. Nothing about life in the Pegasus Galaxy is easy, but McKay is excellent at coming up with creative solutions (or enacting other people's) that sound crazy but usually work.

☄ dedicated: When the city is facing a crisis, Rodney is always the person that everyone turns to for help with saving the day and everyone's lives. He works tirelessly when he's needed, and is willing to push himself to the limit when people are relying on him. He is also loyal, never willing to leave someone behind and despite his naturally anxious personality, he has committed some acts of incredible heroism.

☄ straightforward: Rodney isn't afraid to clearly speak his mind. He speaks up freely and without restraint, even when it involves 'talking back' to someone in a position of power over him. While sometimes this can cause him problems, it also frequently breaks the ice, brings important problems to light, and allows him to defend himself and his teammates in situations where most people would keep quiet. There are no mind games or pretenses with Rodney.

☄ caring: Rodney isn't naturally sensitive to the needs and feelings of other people, even often forgetting about other people's distress and pain (mental or physical). However, there is no denying that he does care deeply about the people around him. While he might not immediately notice when they're hurting, while the more subtle nuances of emotional interaction might completely escape him, the moment he does realize that someone else needs help, he does his best to provide it, even if he's not very good at it.

weaknesses:

☄ neurotic complainer: Rodney is a neurotic hypochondriac with a wide range of phobias, anxieties, and either real or imagined physical ailments; and he complains about all of them all the time. Ranging from allergies to hypoglycemia to more obscure and rare illnesses, Rodney has a host of complaints that he voices on the regular, and often cites to get out of tasks he doesn't want to do.

☄ arrogant: Probably the first thing anyone notices about Rodney is that he is incredibly arrogant. A genius and very aware of it, Rodney enjoys lording his intelligence over other people, and rarely compliments anyone but himself. He's prone to frequently go off on long tangents about his scientific theories and how wonderful they are, and is convinced that everything he thinks or says is priceless and important. While his boasting is almost never unfounded, however, it does often stem from a sense of insecurity. Rodney wants desperately to be needed and important, and his arrogance is, in no small part, an attempt to make others see him that way.

☄ inflexible: Rodney is incredibly stubborn and unwilling to change his mind once he's set on a course of action. Slow to trust and even slower to give credit where it's due, he will bull-headedly carry on with plans that are doomed to fail because he refuses to admit he might be wrong.

☄ insensitive: A very clinical thinker, Rodney often misses the subtle emotional interactions going on around him. He's often the last person to get a joke or realize that someone is upset or hurting, and very frequently puts his foot in his mouth, inadvertently hurting others. Emotionally, he is a bull in a china shop, and his rare moments of gentle empathy often come only after the need for them has been beaten through his thick skull.

job skills (optional): scientific genius, problem-solving, applied physics and engineering
housing (optional): Providing he gets in, shared housing with John Sheppard.

player information
name: Dog

other characters: John Wick (Dropping)

character information
name: John Sheppard
canon: Stargate: Atlantis
canon point: Season 5 - post 'The Shrine'
age: 37

(canon) background: Sheppard @ Stargate Wiki

abilities: Sheppard's Abilities @ Stargate Wiki

strengths:

Brave
John stands up not only to the enemy, but also his superiors if he feels they are making the wrong call. He takes his responsibility as a leader seriously, and is the first to put himself in the line of fire, and make sacrifices or tough calls in order to ensure the physical and mental safety of the people under his command. He would die for Atlantis or anyone on his team without a second thought. John isn't fearless, and the fact that, despite his fear, he persists in the face of death, taking more risks every day than most men will in their lifetime proves his courage.

Determined
When John sets his mind on something, nothing can stop him, not the rules, pain, punishment, or fear of death. He isn't the smartest or strongest of his team, but he is certainly the most resilient, always picking himself up when he falls down and refusing to give up, or surrender, even against impossible odds or after suffering incredible losses, always managing to scrape together the resources to survive when he's pushed to the limit. John's mental fortitude is acknowledged by ally and enemy alike, and he's shown to resist even the psychically superior minds of the Wraith queens, who are capable of bringing the galaxy's most powerful warriors to their knees with a single thought.

Loyal
John would rather die than betray Atlantis, and leaves no man behind. There is no type of torture or reward great enough to sway him, defying even his own orders to save his comrades. While in Afghanistan, he went against command in a suicidal one-man rescue attempt to save a comrade, and even after they were KIA, and he was court-martialed, never regretted the decision. John stands by his team through thick and thin, even when they're sick, accused of wrongdoing, or in trouble, and is always willing to lend a hand. When a member of his team is MIA there is nothing John will stop at to get them back, even if it means giving his own life.

weaknesses:

Cagey
The poster boy for 'conceal, don't feel,' John is constantly operating on top of and managing his emotions, presenting a very shallow, flippant facade out of self-protection. Slow to trust, John doesn't make personal connections easily, and tends not to be forthcoming with personal information or anything that makes him vulnerable. In fact, he destroyed his previous marriage due to secrets and lack of communication. John keeps his emotions very close to his chest and has deep-seated abandonment issues, leaving him unwilling to be vulnerable and taking loss extremely personally. Due to this inability to share with others, he's isolated and often feels like an outsider even among friends and family. His deep fear of failure and disappointing others manifests in his tug of war with figures of authority, craving approval, while simultaneously rebelling.

Immature
Just like your average teenage boy, John talks a lot of shit, gets competitive, engages in stupid petty arguments, places bets on things he shouldn't, and is an all-around chronic pigtail-puller, enjoying getting a rise out of the people around him. Coming from a privileged, upper class background, he also loves his toys, and occupies his time with frivolous hobbies, always surfing, golfing, racing toy cars, and getting into trouble. John messes around a lot, especially with low-commitment partners, because it's easier, and more fun without baggage. This is a life-long habit - he ran away from home to the military in order to escape his father's expectations and then became a rebel without a cause once he was there. John never wears his uniform to standard and doesn't really believe in useless protocol.

Reckless
John is an unstoppable force, and unfortunately the main reason is that he too easily throws himself in harm's way, usually to his own detriment. Idolizing Evel Knievel, he's a bit of a daredevil and likes pulling off ridiculous stunts, picking fights with people bigger than him, and takes a certain pleasure in getting his ass handed to him. He's easily bored by tasks that aren't a challenge. He can be impulsive, pushing the adventurous spirit of Atlantis to the extreme, leaping before he looks with new worlds and experiences.
