riverview: applications

applications: open

Applications will be open from 10:00 PM EST on the 1st of every month until 10:00 PM on the 7th of every month. They will be processed as quickly as possible after they are submitted; if you have not received a response by the 10th of the month, feel free to contact the mod.

Applications will be open from October 1st until December 7th, and will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.

● Please post the entirety of your application in a comment to this entry.

Applications may receive a verdict of Approved, Declined, or Revisions.

Declined applications can be reworked and resubmitted during the next application cycle. If an application is declined 3 times, it cannot be resubmitted.
Revisions must be submitted within 48 hours of the revision request being sent out. If this is impossible due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mod.

● There are currently 58 Character Slots still available in the game.

● While the game is close to character cap, reserved applications will be processed before unreserved applications, with unreserved applications being processed at the end of the cycle until cap is reached.

Application Queue: All applications that would put the game over character cap will be placed in the queue below and processed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applications in queue will be processed as drops happen, regardless of whether the application cycle is complete.

● Casts at or close to Cast Cap: Marvel Cinematic Universe: 15/15; Marvel Comics: 12/15

application guide

● Accepted character types: fandom, original, canon AU
● Non-accepted character types: fandom OC, AU
● The character limit is 2, with 2 apps allowed per month; players can buy up to a maximum of 4 character slots with AC bonus points. There is a cast cap of 15 characters per cast at this time.
● Linked samples should be no older than 1 year.
● Application challenges are not allowed at this time, but if you would like to apply for a character that is on reserve, please submit the application with "not reserved" noted in the subject line, and your application will be considered if the reserved application is declined or not turned in.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 04/02/2017: Applications must fit in ONE COMMENT on the application page. In special situations such as original characters or canon characters without an information link, please try to keep the summary concise and stick to major turning points. If you have been as concise as possible and it absolutely will not fit in one comment, please store the background section in an entry on your journal/musebox/website and link it to keep the application within one comment.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 02/03/2018: The Strengths and Weaknesses sections are a stand-in for the usual personality section and should relate to the character's personality strengths and weaknesses. These sections should not include anything related to abilities and the weaknesses should not be 'positives in disguise' (for example, stating that a character has a weakness to iron because they are a fairy would not be an acceptable response to the weaknesses section, nor would stating that a character is too generous). Every character has good and bad personality traits, please include both.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 03/10/2018: Linked samples must be from a publicly available source. Friends-locked samples are not acceptable for use (via screencaps or other methods), unless they have been unlocked and made public.

● A mod-created sample application can be found here. This is an example of a canon application. The strengths section has been filled out in bullet point form, and the weaknesses have been filled out in paragraph form - both options or a combination thereof are acceptable.

Sample Applications: Ronan Lynch (Canon Character; Written Background), Yuuri Katsuki (Canon Character; CRAU), Derek Hale (Canon Character; CRAU), Tolemi Pagoda (Original Character), Benjamin Holt (Original Character)

Re: REVISIONS

[personal profile] circumitus 2018-02-05 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Wups, mea culpa. Sorry about that! Here's the revised version of those three sections (and I rearranged the former "strengths" into the abilities part, as well as made sure that it all would have fit in the original one comment):
abilities:
Synthetic human: Her flesh and blood and fibers are cloned from a “father” and “mother”, Dr. Lucas Coffey and Undine Stransky, making them biologically related by all counts. She is, first and foremost, designed for combat. Not only does her organic cybernetic physical composition make her more durable than a normal person, the immortal cell line of her father (also known as the Cleary cells) have provided her with accelerated healing. These cells make her immune to sickness and disease, as well as aging. She also has a high pain tolerance, allowing her to take most types of heavy damage that would kill a human.

Brísingamen: Energy stored within Rey’s body, imprinted into her chest, and supplies her bionic physiology with the energy to function. Her skeletal structure is made up of fervidium alloy, a type of glowing metal that heats up once activated by the Brísingamen. This energy can unleash heat particles from the vessel, generating enough to cause a person to burst to flame. When activated it takes on the form of neon red veins pulsating through the parts of the body Rey is applying the energy to, which can occasionally cause her skin to secrete a dripping, oily, extremely hot substance. Basically, she’s a walking powerhouse. This also grants her an immunity to fire and extreme hot and cold temperatures: Other than manipulating her own body heat, she is capable of feats from cauterizing wounds to igniting flame. When angered to the point of raw fury, she can even breathe smoke.

Samandrine: Utilizing the Brísingamen at its fullest capacity results in her skin heavily secreting a black, oily substance that has been dubbed samandrine. Think of this substance as the oil that keeps a lantern lit. It can coat her body from head to toe to prevent her from being identified as well as produce a stronger fiery effect. Samandrine can be extremely toxic when ingested, resulting in temporary paralysis. However, with some sciences applied it can result in quite an intense hallucinogenic effect.

Military experience: Training exceeds well beyond that of your typical soldier. Her skills range from firearms to melee weapons and close-quarters combat. Her specialty lies with sniper rifles, handguns, and combat knives, as well as disarming her opponents. Like many in the military, she also has some knowledge of basic first aid. It should also be noted that Rey now carries the knowledge of nearly a century’s worth of combat experience. Her lives spent as highly skilled snipers, soldiers, and special operatives carry over to her present vessel.

Built Ford tough: With superhuman endurance and equilibrium, Rey’s keen sense of movement allows her to be heavily skilled in being able to travel through environments via rolling, dodging, vaulting, and climbing. She has a significantly higher strength than the above average human, which can be obvious from her well-toned physique. As mentioned above, Rey also possesses a bionic physiology, placing her at approximately 140 kilograms due to the alloy she is made of.

Bablefish: Multilingual as a result of her now-merged identities. Fluent in English, Spanish, Zulu, Dutch, German, Russian, Italian, Arabic, and Hebrew.

strengths:
Never gonna give you up: While careless with her own life, the well-being of others is another story. What could be construed as a need for redemption and maybe even hypocritical, Rey goes above and beyond to help others, both physically and sometimes emotionally. Because of her own history, she is quick to identify certain self-destructive patterns in other people. This compels her to reach out, which can turn into something more possessive and overly protective. If she perceives someone as “weak” (or less capable), she treats them more delicately. However, if she understands the strengths and capabilities of another, she wouldn’t hesitate to push you off a cliff if she knew you could survive it. It’s okay because she has faith in you — and Rey’s faith can be pretty dangerous.

Never gonna let you down: Abrasive that she can be, Rey does care... maybe too much. She just tends to convey that emotion in the form of tough love. And when she feels love, it is very strong. In return, she does not appreciate full on sympathy from others, neither does she seek emotional comfort in anyone if she can help it. Rey is willing to listen, to reach out, and be there for those she cares for or relates to, often with little judgement, and can be arguably nurturing at times.

It is because she had been such a victim of her own circumstances, having little control over her life, that she values autonomy above all else. After all, allowing one the chance to choose for themselves is the most important thing in the world for someone who had been robbed of such freedom for most of her many lives.

weaknesses:
Being human: Despite her tough-as-nails attitude, Rey does not have a good handle on her emotions. She is prone to violent outbursts and mood swings and a colorful language that would make a sailor blush. Even worse, she is more liable to express anger over fear, at the risk of being seen as weak.

Because of her lifestyle, she has a hard time understanding some of the most basic societal norms, as she has very limited experience with social outings. This has led to a lack of worth as a person, and to a fault when she puts the lives of others above her own (which is both as much a strength as it is a weakness). Though she is usually quick to act, her decisions are often brashly made and harmful to herself. She’s a hypocrite in that she cares deeply for the people that she loves (even though she’ll try not to ever use that word), and yet she has absolutely no mind for her own health. She has been willing to die without considering how such a thing would affect others.

Trust is also a hard thing for her to come by. She’s brutally honest, and tends to be candid about herself and what she thinks. Actual trust, to her, is when she’s comfortable enough with someone to divulge emotions, and when those emotions come out they can be pretty unpredictable. In truth, Rey is more emotional than she lets on, hence why she prefers to hide them under a crude guise.

Furthermore, she might express a strong mistrust and disdain for synthetics/robots/the like, due to the role that they played in her world. It is a prejudice that has cause some rifts in the past, and thus she struggles with.

Fragments: Due to having the memories of several soldiers crammed into her head, Rey suffers identity issues. A lot of them. After a while when she starts to remember some things, she has difficulty differentiating between which one is her own, and which ones were fabricated and programmed into her head. Because of this, she might get various details of her backstory mixed up, be they real or not. The details may be so subtle that it should take a perceptive individual to notice it. Be it a flaw in her coding or post-traumatic stress, Rey’s mind is shattered, with different pieces that she fights to hold together.

Revisions for Sakuya Kira

player information
name: Gil
age: 30…

character information
name: Lucifer aka Sakuya Kira (aka Nanatsusaya aka Lucifel… he’s had many many names.)
canon: Angel Sanctuary (manga)
canon point: post-canon / at the point of his “death” in volume 20
age: Physically he appears between 18 and mid-twenties, and that’s as old as “Sakuya Kira” became before he died, but in truth Lucifer has been sentient in a variety of forms since before the beginning of mankind.

(canon) background: Angel Sanctuary Wiki, Angel Sanctuary Characters Wiki, notably see "Sakuya Kira" under "humans" and "Lucifer" under "Demons" since Lucifer becomes Nanatsusaya which becomes Sakuya Kira before reverting to Lucifer again. (Notably, there are some inaccuracies within the Wiki, which is another reason it was not my preference to link it, but I do not think they are too severe.)

(original) world: n/a

abilities:
  • Flight: he has four massive black wings though they are not always present can can be put away or manifested at will.
  • Magical explosions that are somehow both earth-based and projectile without needing any kind of incendiary device or incantation. This ability will need to be toned-down; some of his explosions can be so massive that they can destroy portions of planes of existence.
  • Sword-fighting, both broadsword and samurai swords.
  • Insane healing that occurs within the space of minutes even from ridiculously fatal injuries.
  • Summoning up weapons (some of which are bound to him metaphysically) with the use of his blood. (Sometimes his sword, shiranui, sometimes knives, once a literal scissord hand thing.)
  • Creating protective charms that seal off unsafe powers.
  • Can turn dying angels (and possibly humans? Unknown) into demons (as shown through Barubello's transformation) thus healing them/saving their lives. May need to be nerfed/removed.
  • A demon’s kiss also apparently can enthrall an individual into obedience. Needs player-permission if not nerfing/removal.
  • Inhuman speed.
  • One-way psychic bond with Alexiel / Setsuna (allows him to experience emotions and, if the Nanatsusaya is being wielded, even their thoughts and what they can see and hear).
  • Exceptional strength.

strengths:
Charismatic. Lucifer is an individual who was literally born to lead and inspire. Even during the time the spends as a human he has a great impact on the people around him. He carries himself with strength and an appearance of self-confidence and seems to always know just what to say. Because he often keeps his motivations and feelings to himself, or behaves contrarily to the desires and expectations of others, it lends an atmosphere of mystery to him that many seem drawn toward.

Cunning. Lucifer is able to devise plans and adapt to new situations easily. He has the patience and the intelligence to wait for his set-ups to pay off many years later. Lies and deception are his bread and butter, and when those fail, he’s not afraid to be abrasive and rude. He can often see through the deceptions to the ulterior motives and inner feelings of others.

Selflessness. Although Lucifer’s grudge against the Creator begins with himself, his commitment to breaking His shackles on their Universe is attributable to his love of other beings, most especially Alexiel. He very rarely has the opportunity to have his own emotional needs addressed but spends much of his time being a solid support for Setsuna and Kato, risking his life and literally following the former through Hell and back for the former.

weaknesses:

Repressed. Angels are taught from childhood that they must only love God. They are not shown love or told how to properly express it for others. Even when living as a human, because of his agreement with Sakuya, Nanatsusaya was unable to show love for Kira senior. He also spent a great deal of time rejecting his emotions as false or inscrutable, willfully ignoring, or lying to himself/others about them. Addressing the futility of his existence and watching the love of his life’s reincarnation fall in love with someone else was too painful, so he just tried to tell himself he was fine with everything as it was.

Poor self-worth. Lucifer discovered the secrets of angels’ births: they commit a horrific sin by virtue of existing and are mass-produced scientific experiments. As Nanatsusaya, he spent years thinking of himself as just a tool with no real rights or needs of his own. As a human he committed crimes and behaved hatefully to force his human “father” to hate him and says he doesn’t deserve his love. When he became Lucifer again, he attacked and killed his own friends. He even describes himself at one point as a pitiful, loathsome monster.

Obsessive. Once Lucifer sets his mind to accomplishing a goal, it’s impossible to make him give it up. He spent thousands of years working toward freeing Alexiel without any regard for what it was doing to himself. His subjugation as Nanatsusaya engendered in him a hatred so intense that when people attempted to draw the sword he drove them to madness; he refused to ever recognize anyone but Alexiel as his master after his fall. His concern for Setsuna’s well-being drove him to following the boy multiple times without his knowledge, which was an extension of his many years pursuing Alexiel.

job skills (optional):
Combat & tactics- Lucifer is a trained fighter both with swords and magic; furthermore he has leadership experience as a general.

Tracking - He has a lot of practice sneaking in and out of places unseen and undetected, tailing individuals, and a good idea for detail. (This isn’t something he would mention. But. It’s true.)

Researching/reading - Lucifer, at least as Kira, is/was sort of a secret nerd. He has a great love of books and an appreciation for knowledge and enjoys reading things for hours at a time. He can be a bit encyclopedic, spouting off random facts or philosophy or quotes from novels he’s read.

Mentor - this might seem like a really weird thing for Lucifer, father of lies and temptation, but actually Lucifer has a super soft-spot for humans, especially the underdog, abandoned-by-society and trying-their-best-to-get-by in unideal situations. As Kira, he helped to keep both of his best friends from succumbing to really hopeless situations and encouraged them to keep fighting and trying no matter how painful it was.
housing (optional):
No requests

network username:
catch.a.fallen.star

network sample:

[ He has spent a great deal of time considering how in fact he wants to and should introduce himself on this network. Not that computers are any stranger to angels, but as Lucifer he never had much use of them. As a human, though…

It should be easy enough to write a post, shouldn’t it? A simply introduction and a query for new information about this new world he’s found himself in. But what comes flowing out is not worded in the prosaic voice of the ages-old being that he knows himself to be but the irreverent, shit-posting, careless tone of the teenage delinquent that he was until so recently. ]

Pretty sure when old Shakes wrote about there being more thing in heaven and earth than dreamt of in philosophy he didn’t mean whole other universes. All I can say is there better be both cheese and rabbits on this moon or I’m suing some book publishers. Anybody got a hookup for some inter-dimensional lawyers?

Actually, on the note of people who have had brushes with death and ghosts, let’s take a poll here: how many of you fully expected you’d never expect anything again before you wound up here? Not to be morbid, but I’m pretty sure I ought to be dead.

[ He hesitates at the end. It’s not what he intended, but it feels too natural to be denied. Perhaps “Sakuya Kira” is still more alive and well within him than he thought. Then again, this should suit him well enough; until he can ascertain the truth about this place and its denizens, hiding behind that old identity might not be a bad idea. It’s certainly a lot less threatening than “Lucifer.”

He hits post and waits to see who will respond. ]

character information
name: Akira Kurusu / Joker
canon: Persona 5
canon point: December 23rd
age: 17*
(* No canon birthday is given, but headcanon has his birthday in early December. Thus he would have turned 17 by his canon point.)

(canon) background: Protagonist (Persona 5) @ Wikia
(original) world:

abilities:
- Wild Card: Like other Persona protagonists, Akira has the ability to swap between different Personas as well as make new ones. He can gain these, fuse them, or hold them up at gunpoint and convince them to join him. His canon point allows him to wield up to twelve Personas.

He'll have his personal Persona is Arsene, Daisoujou (almighty/light/healing), and Black Rider (almighty/curse/debuff/buff). If the later two need to be changed, there's no problem!

- Third Eye: Granted to him by Igor, Akira has a third eye/sense that allows him to see clues, treasures, or paths that would otherwise be hidden. It works while moving but can only be activated by Akira himself. Items of interest are gold, paths are blue, and hidden paths (usually vents) have a ripple effect.

- Cognitive Manipulation: Akira can change into his "Joker" appearance by changing how he is seen (or how others see him) in a cognitive sense. This also extends to the fact that even though he a model gun. if others think its real, it is. Basically this means he can change his own appearance and make people think he has real guns.

strengths:
- Empathetic. Like all Fools/WildCards, Akira is able to truly sympathize and understand those around him. It makes it so that he can easily relate to them, understand what motivates them, and stand as a reminder of their own personal ideals when they themselves forget it.

- Leadership/Inspiring. Elected the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Heart, Akira is the one that makes all the final decisions and shots. He can rally the Thieves and general public behind their cause to take down the corruptions of society with his charm, wit, smarts, and guts (all social stats have been maxed). The fact that he has also been wrong by society as much of others, but is willing to do something about it, makes a rallying call to those that want to change their destinies.

- Sense of Justice. Akira has a very strong inner sense of what is right and wrong, which led to his wrongful criminal record. Even when he is on probation and meant to live an honest life, he constantly sticks his neck out for others that have been wronged as he has. He doesn't stop until he feels the type of justice people need has been served, working tirelessly with them in their shops, or physically changing the hearts of those that are causing the abusive situation.

- Loyal. While he is more like a cat than a dog in this regard, once Akira feels he understands someone and they have common ground? He is always there for them. Standing up to yakuza bosses, entering palaces of corrupt people, sticking by the side of his friends, helping a politician stick to his guns. Even after he has helped someone overcome their struggles, he is constantly supporting them.

weaknesses:
- Anger. Akira is an extremely angry teenager as he had his life turned upside down and his future taken away from him. He does a very good job at masking it, but he often glares beneath his glasses. Not to mention his true Persona, Arsene, encouraged him to unleash his rage in order to take back control of his own destiny.

- Manipulation. Given the nature of stealing the desires of one's heart, Akira and his friends are extremely manipulative of a person's entire being -- especially their cognition. They are directly changing the hearts of others, without permissions, for what they consider to be the greater good. He also directly manipulates the police into believing exactly what they want and doing exactly what they want. Akira often puts out the front that he is a good student and member of society. Nothing should be suspicious about him or his actions.

- Questionable Morality. While Akira believes deeply in his own sense of justice, it is definitely seen as questionable at best. The fact he seems to show little to no remorse for changing the hearts of others (save Kunikazu Okumura) is brought up to question several times. Do they have the right to change hearts? Who are they to impose their brand of justice and judgement on another? Akira never backs down, but it certainly makes him seem morally gray at best.

- Criminal. Of course, Akira is also a legal criminal, charged with assault. It is a social status that haunts him his entire game. Society views him negatively - especially at school and within his own direct personal life at first. Being branded a criminal has made him far more willing to break certain rules and moral bends, as society expects him to do it anyways.

job skills (optional): Akira has worked for the floral shop, the gun hobbyist shop "Untouchable", and the "Crossroads" Bar. He also has helped Sojiro out in his cafe of LeBlanc making coffee and curry.
housing (optional): Communal housing is just fine.

Roy Mustang | Fullmetal Alchemist (Manga) | Not Reserved

[personal profile] snapkaboom 2018-02-05 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
player information
name: Malia
age: 29

character information
name: Roy Mustang
canon: Fullmetal Alchemist (Manga)
canon point: Chapter 56, after loaning Ed 520 cens and realizing he left Lieutenant Hawkeye outside the entire night he was stuck with King Bradley.
age: 30

(canon) background: His wiki page.
(original) world: N/A

abilities: • Flame Alchemy: Roy is known as the Flame Alchemist and has the ability to create explosions with a snap of his fingers. He wears gloves with a transmutation circle on them, and they are made of a special cloth that creates sparks when rubbed together. Roy uses alchemy to transmute the air around him to adjust the oxygen content, and when added with the spark of his gloves, makes a fie ball. He can control the intensity of the blast, and even the direction in which he fires, as he is seen shooting balls of flame from around corners and into windows. As a state alchemist, Roy is an expert alchemist and has the knowledge and skill to perform other transmutations. However, since he has not opened the Gate like Edward and Alphonse, he does need to use transmutation circles to do so.

• Military Command: Roy is a Colonel in the Amestris military and has served for a number of years, including serving as a “human weapon” during the Ishvalan campaign. During Ishval, he more or less just used his alchemy and didn’t have much to do with ordering troops, but during the series we see him organize missions and give orders to his small group of loyal subordinates. He is an excellent tactician, being capable of devising his own strategies to obtain his objectives while minimizing casualties on his side.

• Smooth Talker: If anyone knows Roy Mustang, they know that he is a womanizer and can be very flattering when he wants to be. Roy is very conscious of the power of language and can manipulate others to do as he wishes, even so far as to appear to have little to no influence in their decisions.

strengths: • Cool Head: Mustang is able to keep his wits about him even in dire situations and wouldn’t have been able to survive the Ishvalan campaign if he didn’t. During missions, Mustang is able to keep his focus on the objective and change his strategy if he needs to. For the most part, Roy knows and is capable of keeping his emotions from interfering with his objectives, though there are a couple instances where he lets his fear and anger impact his decisions.

• Compassion: For those that don’t know the Colonel personally, he often comes off as selfish and self-absorbed. However, on a deeper level, Mustang cares deeply for his subordinates and those he sees as his duty to protect. He is willing to risk his life for his men and does his best to use his power to protect others before using it for his own gain.

• Intelligence: While it would be stretch to call Roy a genius, he is still very intelligent. He is a very capable alchemist and excellent military tactician. It should be noted that his outward persona of being a lazy worker and womanizer is more of a façade in order to cause those unfamiliar to him to underestimate his intelligence and abilities, thus always keeping an ace up his sleeve.

weaknesses: • Over-Protection: Roy takes full responsibility for his subordinates. He believes it is on him to protect them and those too weak to defend themselves. While this is a good quality to have in a commanding officer, Roy’s fear over losing his men causes him to sometimes act out of impulse. During a covert mission, Roy leaves his post and goes to rescue Hawkeye and Fuery, thus allowing the enemy to know that he is moving against them. He also lies to Edward and Alphonse about the murder of Hughes because he is afraid that it will keep them from continuing their journey.

• Anger: Roy usually has control over his emotions, but he has limits like everyone else. His anger manifests after the death of Maes Hughes, and Roy dedicates himself to solving the murder more out of vengeance than justice. When he does confront Envy, Roy loses control and ruthlessly goes on the attack, torturing Envy in his rage. His anger is so intense that he doesn’t flinch when Envy tries to change his shape into Hughes during this fight. It only angers Roy further, and in the end, he isn’t able to stop himself until Hawkeye literally puts a gun to his head and begs him to stop.

• Haunted: The Ishvalan Campaign was genocide, and Mustang was a key figure in it. To his men, he is the “Hero of Ishval,” as he was able to clean out areas without risking the lives of enlisted men. To the Ishvalans he exterminated, he is a monster. In canon, Roy is not shown to be bothered by the experience, but Edward mentions that Roy will not speak of Ishval, even when asked. This could also tie in to his attachment to his subordinates and his fear of losing them.

job skills (optional): Alchemy, leadership skills, field experience
housing (optional): No preference

network username: Flame Alchemist

network sample:
[Roy’s face appears on screen wearing his trademark smirk.]
So, are there any kind ladies to show a newcomer around? Don’t worry, I’ll pay for dinner.
While I’m here, I’d also like to ask about all the other worlds people were pulled from. I’d be willing to share about my own, of course.

prose/action sample:
Roy had been flustered when he first arrived to Riverview. He had been on his way to check on Lieutenant Hawkeye, who he had left outside of high command while he had his “talk” with the Fuhrer when he suddenly found himself in a very strange building with strange people. It didn’t take long for him to realize that yelling wouldn’t get him anywhere though, and he sat through the orientation as patiently as he could. It was difficult to absorb. The whole idea of different worlds and being pulled from those worlds was ridiculous. As much as Mustang rejected the idea, he couldn’t deny that he wasn’t in Central, or really any part of Amestris anymore. It didn’t help that when pressed, these people didn’t really have any information with how all of this happened, or at least, they were too unwilling to share it. He had asked if other people from “his world” had come through the portal, and was told that it was possible, but he wouldn’t put his hopes in it. He hadn’t been the only one to come through that portal, and from the looks of it, the chances of running into someone he knew was slim.

As much as he didn’t like it, Roy knew it would be best to go along with everything. He cooperated and give the information he was asked to give and followed his guide silently as he was led to the commons. It was empty for now, giving him some time to sort out his thoughts and fiddle around with the strange little device he was given. If anything, this wasn’t the worst situation to be in by far. The technology here was certainly something to marvel at, and the lodgings, while described as basic, was still better than his own apartment in Central. He was surprised at the amount of freedom he was given, though he couldn’t leave out the possibility of an ulterior motive for whoever called the shots here.

Time was on his side here if what they said about time stopping in their worlds was true.
For now, his plan was to watch and wait. Meet people, set up a network like he did in Central if he could, and go from there.

character information
name: Armitage Hux
canon: Star Wars
canon point: Post-The Last Jedi
age: Early thirties (est)

(canon) background: Wookiepedia

abilities: Combat training and administrative role as General (more accurately the Grand Marshal). Regular human with no special abilities beyond a certain ruthlessness, unless tolerating a manchild of a space-wizard counts.

strengths:

Disciplined: Hux is the son of Commandant Brendol Hux and a "kitchen woman", born an illegitimate Arkanis bastard that Brendol loathed. As a result, he was drafted into Arkanis Academy, Brendol's project for creating a new brand of young Stormtrooper where children were instructed in warfare, and taught a variety of talents from the correct Empire elocution to history, first-hand combat to weapon-handling. Although he was a timid boy, Hux ruthlessly excelled at anything he put his mind to, determined to rise above the shame his father laid on him. As General, his troops respect him for his adherence to the rules and First Order doctrine.

Ambitious: Born on Arkanis, Hux was drafted into the brutal regime of his father's pet project academy where he was said to have potential. He was gifted a savage team of young would-be stormtroopers whom he led as a pre-teen, then raised in the Outer Rim until as a young man he saw the flaws in his father, someone who had terrified him earlier on, and committed to assassinate him with Phasma; she used a poisonous beetle since Hux said he didn't care how she murdered Brendol, as long as no one suspected his own involvement.

Loyal: Hux was indoctrinated from birth into the Imperialist faction where he never saw fit to question his perspective: that the Empire had been glorious and the Rebel Alliance were wild insurgents. His commitment to advancing the First Order's doctrine, when it truly formed out of the scattered Imperialist ships that escaped to the Outer Rim, is as strong as his resolve to be seen doing it. He created Starkiller Base, a weapon that could destroy worlds, over a period of years that (with the death of his father) saw Hux appointed to the rank of General at a relatively early age. When devoted to a cause his cunning is unparallelled; just as his determination to rule the galaxy one day is steadfast. Hux adheres himself to an ideal and sees it through, even if that means massacring billions of people on five planets. He is dead-set on his goals and, notably, doesn't get enough sleep.

weaknesses:

Fearful: Physically and psychologically abused by Brendol, Hux has a penchant for overcompensating in bravery to the point where he isn't entirely convincing even to the naked eye. As a little boy tears would dampen his eyes as he calmly answered questions in the affirmative about his father hating him, and as a man he was slammed to the floor of his own ship by Snoke when trying desperately to appear aloof. A long-standing relationship with fear has served him relatively well all the same: he has this far survived by holding his tongue.

Prideful: Believing that the Republic is a threat to galactic peace, Hux has obsessively (quietly) entertained the notion that it is his destiny to rule the galaxy as emperor. When Ren claims to be the new Supreme Leader, Hux is furious and denies Ren's claim until Force-choked into submission, yet even as Ren's right-hand he continues their ongoing habit of snapping at each other. He ultimately can't stand Ren but (stated by his actor) has a reluctant respect for the power his co-commander can unleash on a whim, and puts up with him purely because that allows Hux to think of Snoke's former apprentice as an equal, or closer to such than the majority of his crew, excluding Phasma. Where possible, Hux surrounds himself with the respectful decorum from people that he thinks he deserves.

Ruthless: As a little boy in charge of an older group of teens, Hux ordered them to hit each other. He didn't care for their comfort, only that they would obey him, much the same way he controls those within the First Order out of cold protocol instead of physical violence. Hux plotted to have his father assassinated, almost murdered an unconscious Ren in a bid to seize power, and obliterated five planets just to prove himself against his father's pathetic memory. There is little he won't do when cornered, having taken to carrying a blaster and a secreted knife following his failure when Starkiller Base was destroyed, including fighting tooth and nail to hold onto authority.

job skills (optional): Military training, strategic evaluation, endless administrative roles tidying up Kylo Ren's messes. Overseeing the Patrol Guard wouldn't entirely disinterest him, anything in that vein.
housing (optional): Anywhere!

[ Hux is seated at a desk with his chin resting on curled fingers, not quite at ease but in a stylised sort of contemplation. Black blazer (donned just for the broadcast) over an immaculate white shirt; common clothes but he can't exactly wear his uniform all the time. It means nothing on this moon, anyway. Won't leave an impression. No, that's all down to him. ]

Good Evening. This is an appeal to anyone who may have access to shuttle, the kind commonly used for interstellar purposes. Should it be possible to procure an adequate pilot, I'm willing to pay for an aerial view of the Abandoned City. Your craft ought to have defensive measures and attack capabilities, of course, as a standard precaution. I'd rather not take chances.

Other than that, I'm ... flexible on price.

[ But not so much that he'll let himself be robbed by a scam artist, says the glint of a green eye. ]

Any amenability to this proposal is appreciated.

[ He dismisses the broadcast without another word, but a curt nod that he intends to signal some measure of gratitude. Not that it matters unless someone actually responds. ]

character information
name: Orion James Luis
canon: Original
canon point: Orion comes after the disappearance of the gods in the last city he was in, having no set purpose with no gods to "speak for" any longer.
age: 20

(original) world:

There isn't much of a difference between Orion's world and our own, in fact until around 2004 they would have appeared exactly the same to almost anyone; they had to him until things began to change. Please note that due to this reality being so close to our own many of our own legends of Greek Mythology and their history are likely the same unless noted otherwise.

Legend had it for many generations that the Greek gods had been trapped away in a Labyrinth for countless years and were due to return and reclaim their rightful place again. It was sometime in the beginning of the new millennium that it became apparent such a day would likely be soon. And when the gods did come back, they would need support from their followers, whatever believers remained.

Orion was a child raised by his mother in Greece, he never met the man that fell in love with her as his father traveled for work and never settled to be with his family. He was an American who never stayed in one place long enough, paying the bills by being anywhere but home. A man that made his family because of his job, and in the end, chose said job over that family.

When he was little, Orion spent a majority of his time in Athens with his grandparents, because his mother was too ill to care for a young child. There had been complications during the pregnancy that took a lasting toll on her overall health, and in a misguided attempt to hope he'd find strength in his namesake, she chose the name of a legend for her son, having idolized the hunter during her own studies of the gods. Her wish had always been for him to be strong but what his mother had forgotten was that although Orion was a name of great strength, his soul had also been cursed in love.

For as long as he'd been alive he knew the stories, he knew that his family had come from a long lines of priests and priestesses but he'd always dismissed them as ancient history from a time where such things were still believed. He never took his family's practices seriously, considering them to be rooted in superstition and tradition more than anything, and certainly not actual loyalty to gods that hadn't existed for centuries, if at all.

As he got older Orion no longer became a burden during his mother's illness, but her sole caretaker. He was not yet 17 when she passed, once again leaving him in the care of his grandparents. It wasn't until then that his grandmother told him the true story, the reality behind the myths and legends, and how they pertained to him.

Almost everyone knew the story of Artemis, the pure Goddess who loved Orion - and even though there were different versions of the tale, as with most myths, one thing remained true. In the end, no matter the degree of any feelings the goddess may have held, Orion's love for her is what brought about his demise. The story that didn't reach everyone, however, was that Orion was said to have been born again. Orion's heart had belonged to Artemis, but he was later born a devoted priest of Athena, and his dedication to the Goddess of War came above all else. This story, his grandmother said she only shared with him once he was old enough to understand and take on the responsibility that was held within it.

Orion's grandmother told him that this man had met a woman, this man who scorned love all his life eventually fell for a priestess of the erotes. The two, so dedicated to their duties and their families knew that they could never be together. Despite this, their bond was strong and they felt inseparable, as such they made a promise that some day they would be born again, and when that day came they would finally be free of other burdens and be together.

Now, as interesting as his grandmother's story sounded, Orion saw it folklore, ancient myths with no bearing in reality and nothing more. He dismissed it without a second thought until his grandmother took him aside one day to reveal more of the story. They were from a long line of priests of Athena, she explained. Although he'd known that his whole life what he wasn't aware of was how much actually went into their devotion. For generations, for centuries his family had waited for a sign that their gods would return. What he'd dismissed as tradition and old habits dying hard was in reality an active following of Athena - lying in wait for her. Telling Orion that the gods had been trapped away in a Labyrinth for countless years and would reclaim their rightful place again once freed.

More importantly, if he truly was the soul reborn, it would likely be soon. And when the gods did come back, they would need support from their followers, whatever believers remained - and he would need to make a decision about where his loyalties would lie.

Orion eventually forgot about this story, time passed and he graduated high school. Getting accepted into the famous art school of Cetanose College, he found a small apartment nearby and a job at the local dog shelter walking and fostering dogs. He tried to make a normal living there, but things began to happen. He met people that were not quite right, others that claimed to be gods, and a beautiful blind girl named Ivy. Who told him about the dreams she had of a lover she lost in a past life, her devotion to the erotes, and Orion's own role in all of this.

Even Athena did not expect his loyalty, knowing who he was, but Orion took his responsibility seriously. As much as he would have preferred a normal life with no immortals at all, an obligation to Athena was still an obligation.

Just when things were starting to get too unreal, Ivy was moved away by her family and Orion never heard from her again.

It wasn't too long after that he found himself pulled from his own world into another, answering to a whole new set of gods that his history books hadn't explained. Although it was entirely possible that Orion hadn't left his own world at all and simply wound up sealed away in a city below the Earth's surface, under control of those who trapped the gods in the Labyrinth to begin with. The city was barren, surrounded by a river of murky water and populated with rundown houses. Food was acquired through hunting or leaving offerings for the gods in exchange, nothing had monetary value as the entire economy was based on bartering.

Unlike the gods that Orion had grown up learning about they held no physical form and although seemingly well meaning and benevolent, most of their intentions had to be translated from a sort of essence or feeling only the priests or priestesses could comprehend and untangle. Those capable helped speak for the beings present in that nameless city, as they were unable to directly communicate with their followers, themselves.

There he lived with many other believers, occupying an underground temple with those who could also communicate with these mysterious gods, while remaining unable to assist or even reach out to Athena or Artemis.

Away from the burdens of his own life Orion lived a relatively normal - if technologically barren - existence for the few months he was there, finding at this point that even being uprooted from his home world to help other gods didn't surprise him. One day those gods stopped responding too, as they were also dependent on believers to maintain power and he was left in an unfamiliar landscape with no purpose or way to return home, thus arriving in Riverview.

abilities: Due to his upbringing many of Orion's abilities are unexplored and unlikely to matter much in the Riverview setting unless he's pushed to the more adventure end of things, which at this time seems unlikely.

Orion has the ability to speak with and understand powers that may not be able to communicate directly with their followers. As a priest of a goddess in his own reality being able to "translate" for other gods is a genetic trait in his family. This ability would likely never come up in Riverview since any gods present communicate on the network just like everyone else.

Due to the lore of Orion - and myth attributing him to Poseidon - he's able to walk on water, an ability that he's unaware of and would probably require some skill training to perfect. He's also a natural swimmer with accelerated speed and endurance in comparison to average humans.

Orion has an almost empathetic ability to calm animals. Although he can't communicate with them directly, there is a level of understanding and mutual respect that is supernatural, primarily shown with dogs, horses and aquatic life. This was extremely useful in his line of work at an animal shelter, as he had a gift in luring out strays and relaxing animals in stressful situations. This also ties into his (undiscovered) ability to summon animals in times of need.

He's taken up training in sword fighting and archery after meeting Athena, which he has a natural skill for and actually enjoys in a recreational manner.

strengths:

Responsible: Orion is a dedicated and caring individual. Insisting on taking care of his sickly mother as a teen despite his grandparents' protests, he's patient and has always been a person devoted to his cause - whatever that may be at the time. In school Orion was focused and studious, managing to land himself a spot in a famous college of the arts through studying and determination.

Adaptable: For the most part, Orion focused on living a fairly normal life, he went to school, got a job, the usual. Aside from being a certain level of socially awkward, Orion is a fairly well adjusted college kid considering what life has thrown at him from an early age. He has a tendency to go with the flow, a strength and a weakness - little surprises him anymore after learning of his own involvement with the gods, after dismissing the stories as fairy tales for his entire life. Still, Orion tries to come up with a happy medium between all of his perceived obligations, befriending Artemis while following Athena and keeping his grades up.

Dependable: Orion doesn't believe in giving up on people. He takes on training with a sword and bow in order to support how serious he is about getting involved with his obligations to the gods. Later, when he meets Ivy and learns of their supposed history together, he's just as stubborn about not letting her down - torn between his sense of duty and the desire to be a normal college kid falling in love with the girl of his dreams. Despite everything going on he tries to juggle it without abandoning his job at the shelter, a commitment he made before the gods returned and unwilling to let that interfere with where he feels he's needed the most.

weaknesses:

Cynicism: Growing up Orion was a your typical teen with a chip on his shoulder. He considered his grandparents delusional for worshiping long dead gods and resented his absentee father in the face of his mother's failing health. He was never the most social kid, preferring a world of art and fantasies to interacting with his peers. Having a quick wit was a defense mechanism he picked up early on, prone to dry, sarcastic humor and a tendency to come off arrogant or condescending if he doesn't really know a person. Although he'll act friendly enough with complete strangers, breaking down his walls to find what he really thinks and feels is a feat.

Avoidance: Due to his nature he's also quite a conflicted individual. Orion wants nothing more than to lead a normal life, be a boring regular human who goes to art school and strives to make his deceased mother proud. Instead, he's torn on many decisions. Because of this Orion has a tendency to go with the flow, let the tides of fate carry him along rather than attempt to forge his own path in life. He'll talk without thinking but immediately backtracks or moves the conversation on if things start to feel too personal for him. He spends a great deal of effort encouraging others to talk about themselves.

TL;DR: Not being the most social, or practiced at socialization meant he also had a tendency to awkwardly fumble through conversations. He is prone to rambling on a topic, getting carried away and going on a bit of a tangent. He's not the greatest conversationalist and will encourage whoever he's in a discussion with to take the floor and talk about themselves for lack of knowing what to say.

job skills (optional): Orion previously worked at a dog shelter and enjoyed his work there. Although he has other skills and abilities that could benefit him in another field, he'd talk up his natural ability (listed above) with animals in hopes to land a similar position here.

housing (optional): Anywhere

That is absolutely understandable and I am planning on nerfing her abilities so they are more...small...explosions instead gigantic ones. No leveled buildings, etc.. Now rooms, on the other hand, might need some repairs.

And this is her journal!
