riverview: applications

applications: open

Applications will be open from 10:00 PM EST on the 1st of every month until 10:00 PM on the 7th of every month. They will be processed as quickly as possible after they are submitted; if you have not received a response by the 10th of the month, feel free to contact the mod.

Applications will be open from October 1st until December 7th, and will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.

● Please post the entirety of your application in a comment to this entry.

Applications may receive a verdict of Approved, Declined, or Revisions.

Declined applications can be reworked and resubmitted during the next application cycle. If an application is declined 3 times, it cannot be resubmitted.
Revisions must be submitted within 48 hours of the revision request being sent out. If this is impossible due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mod.

● There are currently 58 Character Slots still available in the game.

● While the game is close to character cap, reserved applications will be processed before unreserved applications, with unreserved applications being processed at the end of the cycle until cap is reached.

Application Queue: All applications that would put the game over character cap will be placed in the queue below and processed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applications in queue will be processed as drops happen, regardless of whether the application cycle is complete.

● Casts at or close to Cast Cap: Marvel Cinematic Universe: 15/15; Marvel Comics: 12/15

application guide

● Accepted character types: fandom, original, canon AU
● Non-accepted character types: fandom OC, AU
● The character limit is 2, with 2 apps allowed per month; players can buy up to a maximum of 4 character slots with AC bonus points. There is a cast cap of 15 characters per cast at this time.
● Linked samples should be no older than 1 year.
● Application challenges are not allowed at this time, but if you would like to apply for a character that is on reserve, please submit the application with "not reserved" noted in the subject line, and your application will be considered if the reserved application is declined or not turned in.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 04/02/2017: Applications must fit in ONE COMMENT on the application page. In special situations such as original characters or canon characters without an information link, please try to keep the summary concise and stick to major turning points. If you have been as concise as possible and it absolutely will not fit in one comment, please store the background section in an entry on your journal/musebox/website and link it to keep the application within one comment.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 02/03/2018: The Strengths and Weaknesses sections are a stand-in for the usual personality section and should relate to the character's personality strengths and weaknesses. These sections should not include anything related to abilities and the weaknesses should not be 'positives in disguise' (for example, stating that a character has a weakness to iron because they are a fairy would not be an acceptable response to the weaknesses section, nor would stating that a character is too generous). Every character has good and bad personality traits, please include both.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 03/10/2018: Linked samples must be from a publicly available source. Friends-locked samples are not acceptable for use (via screencaps or other methods), unless they have been unlocked and made public.

● A mod-created sample application can be found here. This is an example of a canon application. The strengths section has been filled out in bullet point form, and the weaknesses have been filled out in paragraph form - both options or a combination thereof are acceptable.

character information
name: Frankenstein
canon: Death Race 2050
canon point: Third day of the race, right after the car fistfight with Jed.
age: 47 (he has no age in canon but that's the actor's age so....)

(canon) background: (I can't believe there's no wiki!!)

The year is 2050, and the United Corporations of America sponsors an annual three-day, cross country road race, known as the Death Race. The Death Race provides entertainment, since the UCA has a 99.9% unemployment rate; it also helps with the overpopulation--those unemployed people seem to have sex a lot unless you give them something to watch.

The race rules are simple--racers compete for time but are also scored on kills along the way. Normal kill points are accrued by running over pedestrians or random passers-by, but racers have been known to score off their own pit crew, their own proxy/copilot and even race staff. Each racer has a passenger outfitted with a VR broadcasting helmet to bring the most vivid experience to viewers--sight, sound, and smell. As we all know, virtual reality is SOOO much better than actual reality!

In this world, Frankenstein is a legend. As a four-time previous winner of the race, its first and only champion, he has the skills to survive and also, now, a reputation to uphold. He intends this to be his last race, to go out on top with one more win, one final victory. As a seasoned racer, he's also become a bit more, well, discriminating and cynical about the race, the Chairman, and his fans. For example, when a local school decides to boost its test scores by setting out their, well, low-scoring students in the road for an easy score, Frankenstein swerves to avoid the children, and hit the parents and school administrators instead, and later, he deliberately avoids a mass of fans who were volunteering to help him score, because, well, it wasn't a contest that way.

There's also an active Resistance to the Death Race--a group of strangely bondage/ninja attired stragglers who have as their mission to end the Death Race and all these cruel entertainments, so that the country can go back to the world it was, where people had jobs and families and book clubs.

What the Resistance doesn't know is that they're actually tools of the Chairman himself, duped into their acts of violence against the racers simply as yet another element to make the race more exciting to home viewers.

abilities:

Driving cars and running people over. He's a four time champion at this. It's, you know, a refined skillset. If he ever were to get a car, he's all over it.

Additionally, he has hand-to-hand combat skills, as he evinces in his fight with the Resistance ninjas. He doesn't have much of a style, per se, but he can a) take a lot of punishment, and b) dish it out, too.

Frankenstein has not survived four races intact--his right hand and left shoulder (at the very least) are cybernetically enhanced, giving him greater strength and speed in his upper body. He's nowhere near 'superpowered' or anything, but he can crush a man's skull and a handgun with one hand.

strengths:

You don't survive a three-day road race without being mentally tough and determined. Once Frankenstein has set his mind on something, it's almost impossible to get him to stop. For better or worse, he'd devoted his life to the race, in a world where everyone else had given up on trying to do anything meaningful.

He's smarter than people give him credit for--he figured out early on that Annie was with the Resistance. He didn't let on, because he was curious where it would go. And besides, he had a race to win.

He's, well, not exactly brave, but, yeah, brave. He has no qualms about throwing himself (or his passenger) into dangerous situations. Violent death is part of the Death Race, and he's been close enough to it so many times that it doesn't scare him.

He has an idiosyncratic moral code. He likes animals, risking his own life (and Annie's) to spare a kitten, and he avoids hitting his own fans who were trying to sacrifice themselves for him. There are, in other words, people and things he will go out of his way to protect.

weaknesses:

He does not do people that well. In fact, he's kind of awful at social interaction in general. While he has lots of fans, he doesn't really interact with them, and finds their worship of him incomprehensible. And though the Chairman calls him a 'friend', well, it's the Chairman--who doesn't have any loyalty to anyone other than himself. As for relationships...he has no clue. He has a cat. That's about all the pussy he gets.

He's not a fan of 'followers', of people who take the easy way out by letting someone else (Tammy the Terrorist, the Chairman, the Resistance leader) tell them what to do or how to live their lives. Being a race car driver isn't exactly world-changing, but at least it's something he's chosen for himself.

Frankenstein is getting old. It's not just that the Chairman thinks he's getting stale and outdated--he himself is just trying to pull out one last race, go out with glory. But he's not entirely sure he's still got what it takes.

job skills (optional):

* Driving. If you have a car, he can drive it. Most likely dangerously.

housing (optional):

put him somewhere he totally won't fit.

network username:

@frankenstein (he's not that original)

network sample:

[Frankenstein tends to be pretty good at avoiding things he doesn't want to do. So the few times he can't avoid them, he really, really hates it. Really.]

Hng. [See? He's articulate. Listen to that eloquent grunt.]

Anyone seen my dog?

[Long pause, because he's not quite sure how to express just how important this is.]

Anything's happened to him, I will fucking kill you.

[There. Done. Perfect!]

prose/action sample:

He'd hate to have to kill a ninja on the first date

character information
name: Hana ‘D.Va’ Song
canon: Overwatch
canon point: After the events of the ‘Recall’ short
age: 19

(canon) background: official bio, story on wiki, canon timeline

abilities:

reflexes— the primary reason that the Korean military has resorted to recruiting top gamers into their piloting ranks is the reflexes these gamers possess, which makes them more effective in piloted units compared to artificially intelligent but predictable drones. As the country’s top gamer and consequently its top pilot, Hana’s reflexes are extraordinary, allowing her to track her targets consistently and protect herself by neutralizing incoming pr objectives with only some targeting assistance. In her Starcraft days this also afforded her a high “APM” (actions per minute) which meant she could be acting and reacting to several things simultaneously or in quick succession, and this has lent itself quite well to her piloting abilities.

mech unit piloting— in her MEKA unit, Hana is agile and powerful. Her unit is small and incredibly mobile, equipped with boosters that thrust her forward or into the air for a brief period and a default movement speed that isn’t too cumbersome for an armored mech unit. She is quite aggressive in her piloting style (or play style, as it were), being able to get into close quarters with enemies and then being able to dart away at her convenience. Her unit is equipped with mid- to short-range fusion cannons which essentially have unlimited ammo, but slow her mech down while firing. It also has a Defense Matrix function, which is a projected targeting array that allows Hana to neutralize incoming projectiles at her behest. Finally, the mech is equipped with a self-destruct sequence that basically turns the mech into a mini a-bomb.

In Overwatch gameplay, Hana is able to summon new mech units at her will whenever one is destroyed or self-destructed; however, I consider this to be a mechanic that exists purely for gameplay and as such, if she were to gain her mech here in-game, she would not be able to summon infinite mechs from the sky whenever she wants. However, she would still have the ability to ‘Call Mech’ which would call her (one and only) mech unit to her location much like Tony Stark would call his suit.

strengths:

determined— Hana didn’t become the world’s top-ranked player in Starcraft II at age sixteen without a fiercely competitive spirit and the drive to become the best at what she does. And when that determination gave her the top rank, it naturally made her a top pick for the Korean military’s MEKA pilot program-- and Hana readily rose to that occasion, eager to prove her skill in real life combat after having proven herself virtually.

confident— Her first name means ‘one.’ And she will, without fail, continually remind any and all who will listen that she is, in fact, #1. Hana is confident and quite loudly so; confident of her skills, confident in herself, and confident in her place in the world even in spite of her young age, unafraid to stand up for herself when someone doubts her.

charismatic— D.Va has a bit of a charm about her that has made her into an international icon, whether it’s through e-sports, being a military hero in her country, or even a movie star. She has a massive following that includes even other celebritrities and several sponsorship and marketing gigs that all speak to her ability to connect with and sway people.

weaknesses:

self-centered— just as her handle implies, D.Va is… well, a bit of a diva. Along with that confident attitude of hers comes a general attitude that everything is about her or revolves around her and it colors the way she interacts with people and the way she thinks people should be interacting with her. It also means she gets a little nasty and frustrated when things don’t go her way (i.e. she is the sorest of losers).

irreverent— when so much of her life has revolved around gaming, Hana has a tendency to be rather flippant about things that seem like they should be heavier. For example, she treats her assignment to MEKA and her missions in fighting in the Second Omnic Crisis like a game, even streaming her operations from her mech like someone would stream themselves playing a video game. And when reminded that things like war aren’t games, she would respond with, “are you sure life isn’t a game?”

ruthless— Hana was known to be fiercely competitive and merciless with her opponents as a competitor in the pro-gaming scene, and the same continues to hold true now as a soldier on the battlefield as far as her enemies are concerned. She doesn’t hesitate to dive into battle to shoot bad guys down and even keeps count of how many she’s taken down; that same determination that’s driven her forward in both her career as a soldier and as a pilot similarly makes her, perhaps, overeager for fights and single-minded in wanting to win without regard for much else.

skills (optional): gaming (totally a job skill ok), piloting, general entertainment value/charisma
housing (optional): anywhere would do!

network username: d.va

network sample:
[ The video feed opens with a visual of a young woman with brown hair and brown eyes-- and most notably with four triangular, whisker-like markings painted on her cheeks-- looking rather thoughtful, if not perplexed. Her brow is furrowed and her lips drawn thin into almost a pout. ]

So! I’m in a big pinch here, people. For those of you who don’t already know me, I’m D.Va. That’s with a dee-dot-va, pronounced ‘diva.’

Anyway, I’m a pretty huge deal back at home. I don’t care if you don’t believe me or think that’s BS or don’t care or whatever, but this is one-hundred percent true fact: I need a mech. I’m way more useful in one since obviously we’re gonna need more party members who can take huge hits in fights. Like a tank, you know?

If anyone can hook me up with a new one or something, since I know we’ve got, like, mechanical geniuses around and stuff, I’ll make sure to give you a huge shoutout on my first live stream. Or, if we can figure out a way to get mine back just the way I like it, you’d be my best friend forever.

That’s all! Stay super, everyone! Love, D.Va!

Gamora | MCU (Guardians of the Galaxy) | Reserved

player information
name: Lily
age: 21+
contact: [plurk.com profile] poprocks
other characters: N/A

character information
name: Gamora
canon: MCU (Guardians of the Galaxy)
canon point: Post-Vol. 2
age: 25

background: Here is her wiki page!

abilities:
» MODIFICATIONS: There are a number of physical implants and modifications that have been made to Gamora, courtesy of Thanos. These include a CYBERNETIC SKELETON, OCULAR AND RESPIRATORY IMPLANTS, and a BIOAUGMENTED HEALING FACTOR. The cybernetics make her far more durable than what was already natural for her species, while the implants in her eyes and lungs allow for enhanced vision and respiratory functions, respectively. The healing factor allows her to recover from injuries and infections incredibly quickly, though more extensive damage will take notable time.

» ALIEN PHYSIOLOGY: Gamora is a Zehoberei, who naturally possess strength, speed, and durability that surpasses the average human. Her nervous system is also much more developed, and this gives her a higher sensory perception than other species. She also has two livers, which filter toxins (including alcohol) through her system at a faster rate.

» COMBAT TRAINING: Gamora has lived most of her life being constantly trained to be a master combatant. She's skilled with both hand-to-hand techniques and many varied weapons.

» WEAPONS MASTERY + MARKSMANSHIP: As mentioned above, Gamora has been training for years to reach peak performance with all manner of weaponry. Her preference is her sword, Godslayer, but she's also highly proficient with guns, knives, and whatever she may have on hand.

strengths:
» COURAGEOUS: Gamora is flat-out incredibly brave. She will risk her life for the other Guardians and throw herself into a situation if it means saving someone she cares about (or, in general, to do the right thing). She's confident in herself and her abilities, and that translates into her willingness to face challenges head-on.

» COMPASSIONATE: Though she often presents herself as someone unmovable and uncaring, Gamora is kind. She cares a great deal for her friends, but she's also willing to care for strangers and innocents. She has a big heart, and she'll go out of her way for the people she loves (but also probably stab anyone who actually tries to expose how very much she cares).

» HONORABLE: Gamora values honor, and though her own ethics may seem grey at times, she has a moral code that she adheres to, now that she has the chance to make her own decisions in life.

» INDEPENDENT: Though Gamora sees the value in teamwork and collaborates well with the other Guardians, she's also fiercely determined to exercise her own freedoms. She is discovering what it means to be her own person, rather than a weapon or a tool at someone else's disposal, and that's important to her.

weaknesses:
» STUBBORN: Gamora has an iron will, and while she's the type to stick to her guns, that can often mean she's uncompromising or reluctant to see others' viewpoints. She will argue and question and intimidate, because if she thinks she's right, it's hard to make her budge.

» RUTHLESS: There is little room for mercy when Gamora is determined to kill or maim someone. She's brutal when she fights, and she isn't afraid to take a life — though she's far more discerning about it than she was while under Thanos's control. She doesn't like collateral damage, but her aggression and tendency to defer to violence isn't exactly the best approach.

» ABRASIVE: Gamora is blunt almost to a fault, and her harsh responses to others come more easily than they probably should. She doesn't spare feelings for the sake of flattery, and she's likely to be forthright and a little too honest. She doesn't trust easily, and she'll make sure you know it.

job skills: Combat training (hand-to-hand and various weaponry), assassin's training, extensive knowledge of tactics and strategy.

housing: Shared housing with that one loser— I mean, Peter Quill.

player information

other characters: N/A

character information
name: Yuffie Kisaragi
canon: Final Fantasty VII
canon point: DoC
age: 19

(canon) background: Wiki Link

abilities: Most of Yuffie’s abilities pertain to the Materia she keeps with her. Information about Materia can be found here. I would like her to come to game with some Materia if possible, specifically the white Materia, but I think it is best to leave up to the mods. The white Materia is the only one that Cloud leaves her with at the end of the game. This is documented in the Novela though she has since collected more by the time of Dirge of Cerberus. She’s skilled at using ninja weapons such as a shuriken and throwing stars, traps, stealing, tea ceremonies and a handful of other princess lessons that she couldn’t avoid. She is agile and acrobatic, possessing more speed than strength.

strengths:
Durable: Yuffie attempts to keep even the most depressing situations light-hearted. This is how she has survived the horrors of her past and how she continues to survive. Her home was oppressed by ShinRa and then a sickness plagued the town when the Life Stream ripped through it. Even through all of this Yuffie kept smiling and trying her best to make things better. She doesn’t let life get her down.

Direct: She will tell anyone within earshot of her what she thinks and she isn’t afraid of the repercussions. She calls Cid out for being sexist and tells Cloud when he’s being stupid or when a plan really sucks.

Stubborn: She won’t let anything get in her way. She even places her own pride and desires to the side in order to help save the world from Sephiroth. She’s steadfast and won’t back down when it really matters.

cleaver and cunning: Most of her plans don't seem to work out but they are well thought out plans and at times ingenious. She has been learning from her mistakes and has grown significantly from her first appearance in Crisis Core. She’s able to assist in plans and tells Vincent on more than one occasion in Dirge of Cerberus that his plans really need to be more well thought out.

Loyal: Yuffie is always there for her friends. It takes a while for people to earn the placement as friend and it is usually unintentional but her loyalty is steadfast. In Advent Children, she appears with an armload of materia in order to help Cloud during his fight with Kadaj and then Sephiroth. Although her goal is for the salvation of Wutai, she puts her quest on hold for her friends and comes running to their aide at a moment’s notice.

(Total Words: 300)

weaknesses:
Cocky: Her exuberant confidence bleeds into cockiness which is why it is not listed in the strength section above. Yuffie is very cocky, even when it’s clear that her skills aren’t up to par. She isn’t weak, but she always seems to meet up with stronger characters like Zack and Cloud during her travels. Even after being defeated, she doesn’t lose her confidence, but twists words together like she had intended for such an outcome as some masterful grand plan. When she joins the party in Final Fantasy 7 she twists the outcome of the battle by saying, “You're pretty scared of me, huh?”

Motion Sickness: This gets better over her time with the Final Fantasy 7 gang. She’s able to stand air ships after a while and any other slow moving vehicle though only as long as she’s not looking outside. Animals only turn her stomach a bit, since she is known for riding chocobo’s. If she’s in a car or wagon she’s laying on the floor wishing that she was dead.

Proud: It’s her pride that’s lead her into most of her unfortunate situations and while it’s been tampered with time it’s just as evident only later in newer ways such as joining the World Regenesis Organization. She often boasts about her skills and amazingness to those she knows as well as complete strangers.

Rebellious: As a young girl, Yuffie isn’t thrilled about her father’s leading style or following the traditions instructed to her by him. She constantly acts out against him and things that she doesn’t agree with.

(Total Words: 261)

job skills (optional): Being awesome, selling people things they don’t need, being a ninja. (This is the information that Yuffie would have provided)
housing (optional): Communal Housing if possible.

character information
name: Kate Fuller
canon: From Dusk Till Dawn
canon point: End of Season 2
age: 18

(canon) background: WIKI LINK HERE
(original) world: N/A

abilities: She is 100% human and has no special abilities.

strengths:
Sweet: Kate often puts other people before herself. There is a limit to how nice she can be but it’s well beyond what most people would consider average. She’ll do anything for her brother, believing that he doesn’t have to be a killer, despite the fact that he’s now a snake-like vampire.

Smart: She’s a senior high school student and it’s mentioned that not only does she get all A’s but that she’s in higher level classes. She also displays this intelligence when she learns to pick locks and plan heists for Seth.

Protective: Kate will do anything for those that she considers family. She kills vampires to protect her family, Seth and Richie. She also helps her brother bury a body of a girl he killed thinking that she was protecting him and then able to lead him down a cleaner path.

Capable: At the start of the series Kate is very innocent. As the series continues, she learns how to thrive on her own, more so after she kills her father. She also has to take care of Seth on occasion, while also finding out more information about the snake-like vampires to help save her brother.

Accepting: Once of Kate’s most amazing abilities is that she’s accepting of peoples flaws. She believes in people but doesn’t try and force them to change. Instead she helps them and hopes that they might one day see themselves as she sees them.

(Word Count: 241)

weaknesses:
Passive Nature: Even as Kate learns how to stand on her own feet she’s rather passive. She goes along with the Rangers plans or her brother’s plans thinking that somehow going along with them will help. It’s because of this that she kills a human male.

Willful to a Fault: She believes in people and doesn’t want to lose hope in them. She’s stubborn to the point that she pushes people away at times. This happens to both her brother and Seth who leaves her on the side of the road in the middle of season 2. She doesn’t want to budge, even when she’s faced with the darkness of the world. This also leads her to being shot in the back at the end of season 2

Losing her Faith: Through the first two seasons Kate’s belief in god is one of her greatest strengths. After being shot at the end of season 2 this changes and this is when she’ll be app-ed into Riverview. She’s at a point where she wants to believe in god and her brother but she’s questioning it. Kate has always been full of love stating that ‘to love someone is to love the unlovable’ but she then tells Richie that there is no more love left and then dies.

(Word count: 216)

job skills (optional): N/A
housing (optional): I’d like her to live in a small house with two or three people she can fret over.

He’s a pretty good actor when the situation calls for it, slipping into roles and changing his speech and mannerisms as needed: with a businessman, he’s polite and complimentary (though he can never quite repress his tendency to be a smart-ass); with a blood-thirsty killing machine, he points out his own battle-scars; with a Ravager, he mimics their speech patterns and speaks the language of cold, hard cash; and with the High Priestess of a pretentious, self-aggrandizing alien species, he’s deferent, polite, and charming.

Enhanced Durability: Peter is largely human, but his half-Celestial side allows him to withstand conditions a normal human couldn’t. He recovers quickly from what appear to be devastating blows (getting thrown into stone walls, falling from several stories, being slapped out of midair by a weird tentacle monster, just to name a few examples). He’s also shown to endure and survive the vacuum of space for a short time, and he’s able to withstand the power of an Infinity Stone without assistance for far longer than any mortal before him.

Combat: While he might not have top-of-the-line training, Peter is able to fight his way through ostensibly overwhelming odds. He's quick on his feet and resourceful, and what he lacks in formal training and brute strength, he makes up for in speed and utility.

Dexterity: Peter is adept at sleight of hand tricks, swapping items for duds, swiping items from under someone's nose -- tricks that require misdirection and quick hands. He can pick locks, as well.

Marksmanship: He's shown using a variety of firearms with impeccable aim. Pew pew.

Piloting: Peter is knowledgeable on different types of ships and is capable of piloting them with a high amount of skill. At one point in the first film, he’s shown to pilot a construction/mining ship, and then using the gripping claws of that ship to pilot a second ship. Peter is also able to fly his preferred ship, the Milano through a pitched battle, and (to an arguable degree of success) through a quantum asteroid field.
Aside from that, though, he’s a normal human — for the most part, anyway. At the end of the second film, the abilities granted by his Celestial ancestry (molecule manipulation; self-healing; self-augmentation; immortality) have been stripped away, though he still retains his above-average strength and durability.

strengths:
Brave: Peter is frequently shown putting his life on the line for others - leaping into the vacuum of space, diving to push others out of the way of an crashing spaceship, putting his life on the line for an entire galaxy. As a child, Peter had always been the type to stick up for the little guy, even if he wasn’t much to look at, either. That tendency stuck with him, despite the Ravagers’ apparent attempts to snuff it out, which leads to Peter repeatedly putting himself in the line of fire and taking up the mantle to, as the title suggests, safeguard the galaxy.

Confident: Peter has faith in his skills, which translates to the way he holds himself and the way he speaks with others. He has a swagger and charm that speaks to his confidence, which helps all the more when he needs to turn on the charisma. While he acknowledges that he may not be as strong or as durable as his new teammates – he accuses Gamora, at one point, of preferring that he be “the weak one” – he’s at least comfortable enough in his position to (un?)officially lead the team.

Resourceful: Peter is shown putting his wits to good use, spotting weaknesses in his opponents and figuring out how to use them to his advantage, or using the tools at his disposal to get himself out of tricky situations. He knows the various uses of his weapons and gadgets, which allows him to utilize them in unexpected ways. A gravity mine meant to extract items can just as easily be used against people, a jet-attachment can give his jumps more power and can easily be used to shove enemies away or to empower his kicks.
weaknesses:
Reckless: Peter’s bravery teeters more often than not into recklessness, judging by his fondness for Heroic Sacrifices™. He has a tendency to talk or act before he really thinks on the consequences, which leads to Peter leaping before he looks more often than not.

Proud: Peter’s confidence can teeter into the wrong side of pride. While he’s not so proud as to not ask for help, or to not recognize the skills of his teammates, in certain matters, he refuses to budge. For instance, while trying to escape an enemy fleet, Peter refuses to allow Rocket to pilot their ship through a quantum asteroid field. He feels his own piloting skills far exceed Rocket’s, and rather than concede and allow Rocket to pilot, Peter stubbornly puts his foot down, fighting for control and putting the entire ship at risk.

Selfish: Raised among Ravagers who hardly seemed to care about his well-being (and oftentimes seemed to prefer him dead), Peter’s spent a great deal of his life looking out for himself. Now that he has a team, it’s a bad habit that he is trying to rid himself of, but it stills rears its head occasionally. He is often shown trying to fulfill his own wishes and desires without listening or heeding his teammates, though he manages to snap himself out of that line of thinking with particularly dire wake-up calls.
job skills (optional): Resourcefulness, piloting skills, and marksmanship. (But Peter would also happily expound on anything listed in abilities above. He’s generous and forthcoming like that.)

housing (optional): with his bff Gamora, please!

character information
name: Jason Todd
canon: DC Rebirth
canon point: Issue 10 of Red Hood and the Outlaws.
age: 22-ish.

(canon) background: Jason Todd at the DC Wikia || Jason's continued history for Earth prime
(original) world:

abilities: He is nearly super-humanly-enhanced by his dip in the Lazarus pit, healing super fast, no longer aging, and possessing almost superhuman strength.

Since his death, Jason shows signs of being spiritually aware. From speaking to the dead leader of the All Caste, to being able to see and hear Essence, a living embodiment of darkness, when no one else does. This means he appears to be speaking to himself when talking to those unseen.

Due to his life both before and after his Robin days, Jason Todd has both street smarts and a high-end education. In his own words, by 15 he was a walking CSI unit. He is proficient in most weapons, preferring guns and swords to most other options.

Another additional ability he has because of the All Caste is called the All-Blades. They are essentially magical swords he keeps hidden in a special slot at the side of his boot. They are normal swords until infused with his blood to work. They then become magical, and supposedly indestructible.

strengths:
Morally Gray: Jason has the ability to do the things other people don't want to, with few exceptions. In general he doesn't care if people are caught in the crossfire as long as they aren't women and children. He is willing to do the wrong thing if it gets the right ending. He is very willing to kill to get a job done.

Quick Thinking/Learning: Growing up in Crime Alley, and then under the wing of Batman, The All Caste, and even the Al Ghul's helped him learn many many skills in a fast amount of time. Jason can pick up most skills after a few tries.

Jason has learned to think on his feet and make up his plans as he goes along. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, and you don't have time to do more than wing it. His plans are not always the best, but usually work out.

Leadership: Despite the fact he doesn't see himself as a leader, he is usually put in a leadership role. He was made the heir of the All Caste, offered the leadership of the League of Assassins and runs his own group, the Outlaws.

weaknesses:
Morally Gray: While this is also listed as a strength, it is a double edged sword. Sometimes the things he sees as okay are far from it. This is why he is considered an outlaw. He will do whatever he feels is right even when it's not. He doesn't feel bad for the things he does, even when others tell him how wrong they may be.

Temper: One thing between life, death and resurrection has remained true for Jason: his temper is his biggest flaw. When he gets mad nothing else matters. He will throw out months of planning and ruin a mission if his temper is pushed just to get at whoever set him off. His dip in the Lazarus Pit actually didn't help matters here, as Pit Madness, a known side effect, also pushed his rage. He was taken to receive special training by the All Caste to learn to tamper down his rage. Even after 'graduating' their program he still has anger problems.

Family: His family has always been a big problem for Jason. Growing up with a petty criminal for a father and an addict for a mother he was doomed from the start. Despite often wishing his father would die, he still loved both of his parents. Losing both the way he did, only to have his mother turn out to not only be alive but to hand him over to the Joker, left him a bit messed up to say the least. When it comes to his adoptive family, well more the Bat family, he has issues with all of them and at the same time he cares deeply for them all as well. He is usually on uneasy footing with them but despite his better judgement he will always rush home if they need him.

skills (optional): Literary nerd, weapons expert, trained fighter, mechanic skills.

character information
name: Morgana
canon: Persona 5
canon point: 11/22
age: Unknown. He isn't a human or even a real animal, exactly, so age doesn't hold much relevance to him. He acts like a young teen.

(canon) background: Link!

abilities: Morgana is a shape-shifting metaphysical being created from the collective hope of humanity. While in the Metaverse - a second dimension created from human emotion, and where he's originally from - he exists in his normal form, and is also able to transform into a small 7-seater bus, apparently because humans associate cats and buses together. In the real world, he takes the form of a regular domestic cat. In Riverview, I'd like for him to mainly stay in his regular form (the bipedal one), and perhaps learn how to shift in this new world at a later point. I'm thinking that his remaining in this form could be explained by the fact that multiple dimensions are converging on this point, and that there is a large amount of spiritual/emotional energy concentrated around the portal - he (and this place) aren't particularly bound by the usual rules of the universe.

Aside from that, Morgana is a competent thief and fighter. He is small and agile, able to jump, climb, hide, and crawl with ease, and knows how to wield both a scimitar and a slingshot. He is a strong magic-user, and by summoning his persona, Zorro, he can utilize wind and healing magic. However, using magic will drain his stamina and physical strength. The Persona is, essentially, a manifestation of Morgana's innermost beliefs and core personality transformed into power.

A skill unique to Morgana is his natural ability to detect "treasure," or strong manifestations of human desire. It's hardly exact, but he does have some sensitivity to spiritual and emotional distortion, particularly those relating to hope and desire.

For a cat, he's surprisingly skilled at crafting. Morgana is capable of creating lockpicks, smoke bombs, and other such tools from basic raw materials. Additionally, as he's able to turn into one, he's quite good with cars, and can competently perform mechanic work, such as fixing broken-down vehicles. Basically, he's kind of a handyman.

strengths:
Confidence: Arguably, Morgana's best quality is his confidence. Although he has no idea where he came from or even what he really is, he continues to aggressively push onward through life and chase the truth. When the odds are against him - and they usually are - he will stand up against his enemies and fight for what he believes in. Morgana generally believes that he is very capable, perhaps more than most people around him (predictably cat-like behavior), and while this can sometimes make him abrasive to deal with, it also makes him extremely reliable as a leader and navigator. Considering his true nature as a literal embodiment of the human emotion of hope, it only makes sense that he has a deep belief in himself and a positive outlook towards the future.

Affability: Although he can be arrogant and a harsh critic towards others, at his heart, Morgana is a good person, and tends to be able to get along with others. He always tries to make the right decision, and strongly believes in justice and fairness for all people. He is passionate about using the power of the Phantom Thieves to help others. He is shown to care deeply about the other members of the Phantom Thieves, though he originally claimed to have joined with them only to help him discover his past; for instance, he worries about Haru's wellbeing and is sensitive to her lack of battle experience when she first joins, and insists on keeping her off the frontlines. He also shows constant concern for the wellbeing of the player character and irritation with the cruelty shown towards him in daily life. Towards the end of the game, when it appears that going to the Metaverse has lead to the destruction of the Phantom Thieves and perhaps all of humanity, he shows extreme remorse and sadness.

Cunning: Perhaps surprisingly, he's undoubtedly one of the most intelligent members of the Phantom Thieves. Morgana is the one who originally taught the other members how to, essentially, be a Phantom Thief at all: while he's good with pickpocketing, stealing, and sneaking around, he's also good at formulating plans, analyzing the situation, and coming up with solutions to the problems that arise in the story. When the party is betrayed, it's Morgana who is the first to figure out something is wrong, and also the one who spearheads their plan to get out of their predicament. Morgana has a talent for rationally laying out the details of any situation, either in his own mind or while explaining to others.

weaknesses:
Pride: Morgana's confidence often turns into haughtiness and arrogance. He has a tendency to believe that he's always right, leading to conflict with others, and, at one point, even causing him to leave the party to fight on his own. He can be derogatory when speaking to others if they act in a way that he doesn't agree with or have an opinion that doesn't match his own. His pride can also manifest as recklessness: Morgana is quick to rush into situations overconfidently, especially if his pride has been injured, which gets him hurt both physically and emotionally several times throughout canon.

Insecurity: As one might suspect, his excess of pride is mostly covering up a sense of inferiority. Not knowing where he came from or what he is makes Morgana feel like he has nowhere to belong; because of this, he often feels that he needs to prove himself to "earn" a place amongst his friends, which is the cause of some of his bravado. He gets jealous easily, and can be deeply wounded by his own failures or by careless criticisms from others: he is terrified of being useless to his friends and losing his place in the world.

Sensitivity: Morgana tends to be very emotional and overreact to things on both ends of the emotional spectrum. His wild passion for treasure, although it has abated somewhat by the canonpoint I'm taking him from, can cause him to occasionally lose control; he fixates on his goal, and this combined with his surplus confidence can make him ignorant to other problems around him. On the other hand, he often takes much greater offense to offhand comments or unintentional insults due to his insecurity, which can lead to him becoming depressed or angry enough to refuse contact with others. Morgana tends to feel emotions very strongly in general - perhaps because he's basically made of emotion, himself. While this makes him very sympathetic towards others, it's also the cause of a lot of strife within canon.

job skills (optional): crafting (making tools or weapons, refining basic materials into useable materials), mechanic work, combat
housing (optional): I'd like for him to live with Yuuto ([personal profile] maskerading)! They live together in canon.

network username: zorro

network sample: Everyone! I just realized there's something important that I need to make clear! Normally, this shouldn't be an issue, but some of you keep screwing up, so I think I need to make a public announcement.

PSA
I (Morgana) am NOT a cat!

Not even a little! So stop treating me like one! I don't like catnip, or cat toys, and I'm not going to eat a piece of chicken that fell on the ground! You know who you are.

I'm a human!

The next person who treats me like a kitty cat is getting scratched!

That's all for now. Don't forget it.

player information
name: MoiyaHatake
age: 24 years over 18
contact: MoiyaHatake @ Plurk, Gmail, AIM, or private messaging me in Jace’s journal
other characters: None.

character information
name: Jace Wayland (at the canon point he will be taken from).
canon: Shadowhunters
canon point: Season 2, Episode 3, “Parabatai Lost”, immediately after saving Alec, before he turns himself over to the Clave.
age: Age isn’t specified, but was listed in the Pilot information online (which has since been deleted) as being “early twenties”. It’s also mentioned in the show that Alec is older, by approximately a year. For the purpose of this game I’m going to say he’s 20.

(canon) background: http://shadowhunters.wikia.com/wiki/TV:Jace_Wayland
(original) world: N/A

abilities:

Physiology: Being half angel gives Nephilim heightened abilities, including strength, speed, agility, stamina, and coordination, which continue to improve over time and practice. It also allows them to use weapons forged from special materials, like seraph blades and steles, which they use to draw runes. Nephilim are stronger, faster, and more durable than humans, but they are half human and are not immortal. They can be injured and die.

The Sight: As a Shadowhunter, Jace is naturally and easily able to see through most magical illusions and layers of glamour over reality.

Angelic Artifacts and Runes: Runes are drawn onto the skin using the stele, they are permanent once drawn, and can be activated or deactivated using the stele. Shadowhunters use runes to enhance their sight, hearing, speed, agility, coordination, and they can glamour themselves to not be seen or heard by anyone outside the Shadow World. They can also use runes to heal themselves and slow down blood loss. Runes can also be drawn on surfaces or objects to burn, lock doors, or protect.

Fighting: Jace was trained in hand-to-hand combat incorporating different styles from around the world and the use of a variety of weapons. He is an expert in combat, armed and unarmed, and is a highly skilled swordsman. His training continued under Hodge Starkweather after Jace moved into the New York Institute.

Parabatai Bond: Due to his bond with Alec Lightwood, Jace is able to call on more strength in battle and is able to use certain runes exclusive to parabatai. The runes drawn on him by, or shared with, Alec also have a considerably stronger effect than if they had been drawn by any other Shadowhunter. Through their bond Alec and Jace fight as one in battle. They can feel emotions and know when the other is in pain.

strengths:

Love. Jace would argue love, or any emotion, is a weakness, but he’s proven again and again that love is his strength. When he loves, he loves deeply. His love keeps him on the right path. Love, as his greatest strength beyond his Shadowhunter abilities, is how Jace continues to fight back and grow as a person. No matter how much he fears or doubts himself he manages to do what is right when it’s most important.

Tenacity. Jace is a fighter. He stubbornly and determinedly fights until he perfects a skill, wins a battle, protects those he loves and those who can’t protect themselves. He doesn’t quit no matter the cost. Training, playing the piano, defeating an enemy, Jace gives everything of himself.

Selflessness. Jace turned himself over to the enemy to protect his family, his parabatai, and his friends. He threw himself at a demon to protect Alec. He fought vampires to rescue someone he hadn’t begun to call friend. He turned himself over to be tried as a traitor and risked being killed by werewolves more than once just for the chance to save Alec. These are only a few examples. Jace doesn’t think about what it costs him to protect others. He does it because it’s the right thing to do and because he’s seflless.

weaknesses:

Self Esteem/Need for Acceptance. This is Jace’s greatest weakness. He puts so much importance on gaining acceptance and approval from authority figures, like his father and his adopted parents, that he begins to doubt himself the moment they question his motives or decisions. With others he’s the opposite. He appears cocky, egotistical, and quick to argue when challenged. He’s blatantly self-confident and brags about himself. It’s a defense, a cover for the insecurities and doubts he fears. His father raised him to be strong, to fight, to be the best no matter the cost. He’s constantly trying to live up to the expectations and anything less is unacceptable.

Emotions. Jace’s greatest weakness is being afraid of his own feelings for others. He hides his emotions, his pain, from even Alec, who is the closest person to his heart and soul. Alec understands Jace better than anyone else and can see when Jace is upset or hurting, as well as feel it through their bond, but that doesn’t stop Jace from pretending he doesn’t feel love, fear, emotional pain. Jace comments jokingly one time that others assume he has feelings, he claims he’s never been in love, and he reminds others often that emotions are a weakness. He can also be stubborn and refuse to listen when he’s emotional and trying to avoid feeling something he’s not ready to deal with.

Impulsive. Unlike his parabatai, Alec Lightwood, Jace doesn’t appear to think things through before acting. He gets a thrill over rushing into danger, fighting demons, and breaking rules rather than getting permission first. Because of this he can be stubborn, argumentative, and slow to admit when he is wrong.

job skills (optional):
housing (optional): Sharing with canon-mates if possible.

network username: Angelus.ignis - latin for angel of fire.

network sample:

[He’s still a mess, cuts, bruises, a busted lip, but he’s healing. On the outside. He welcomes the pain as a distraction. And then he carefully pushes down every thought and emotion he can feel crawling beneath his skin and asks:]

Can anyone point me to the nearest bar? Preferably one run by werewolves and a bartender with a killer personality.

character information
name: Ava Anatalya Orlova
canon: Black Widow: Forever Red / Marvel TV-based canon as discussed
canon point: Roughly three months post-Natasha and Coulson's DOD hearing re: Alexi's death / post-TWS
age: 19

(canon) background: There's no wiki, sorry. The plot is pretty convoluted so I tried to just hit the main points for brevity's sake, but if you want a more detailed write-up I have one available.

Ava is the daughter of quantum physicists for the Red Room. She spends time there as a child, but is taken as a subject the OPUS project when she's eight years old. When she's nine, Natasha rescues her as part of a SHIELD op, though this is later shown to be intentional – the OPUS project “links” two people together and Ava and Natasha are the first successful test case though they don't realize it at the time.

Natasha hands Ava over to SHIELD, while telling her that she'll come if she needs her. She never does, and instead Ava spends the next five years locked up in an off-the-books SHIELD safehouse, before running away at fourteen to be a homeless Brooklyn streetrat. She meets her bestfriend Oksana in a rat-infested alley behind a dumpster at a soup kitchen, who gets her into fencing. When she's fifteen she starts having “dreams” about a boy that turn out to be because of her link to Nat.

At a fencing competition she both meets the boy from her dreams – Alexei – and Natasha, because the man responsible for OPUS all those years ago is back and Natasha thinks he's coming after Ava. After being shot at, Natasha and the two teenagers escape in a Quinjet and go to the Triskelion where Tony Stark deduces the purpose of the OPUS device-- weaponized quantum entanglement-- but fails to separate Ava and Nat. After Nat threatens to lock Ava up again, Alexei and Ava break out of the Triskelion together intending to solve the problem.

Ava and Alexei go to Odessa, managing to avoid SHIELD, and go to a shipyard where they find a lead on the device and the man behind it, finding there are over 100 other entangled people that could be used to compromise world security. Natasha tracks them down just in time to prevent a shootout, having discovered that SHIELD tampered with her memories and Alexei is possibly her little brother. Working together and using the quantum entanglement to their advantage, they manage to find a way to stop the device with a code that was imprinted in Ava's memories using Swan Lake. Also Ava and Alexei fall in love.

They manage to stop the device but Alexei dies in the process. Ava goes to SHIELD academy, and she and Nat bond over shared trauma, going on an adventure in South America.

abilities:
+ Red Room Training: The novel implies she spent some time in the Red Room, and one of the tie-in comics written by the author says it outright. That said, she clearly didn't spend as much there as others. However even before her quantum link kicks up to speed, she's able to single-handedly break herself out of a SHIELD facility, steal gear, disappear in a breath, blend into plain sight, and survive. All of these are likely remnants from her early training in the Red Room. There's also implications in the novel that the Red Room enhanced those in the program – in the DOD hearing it's remarked that Natasha's file compares her to Steve and Bucky, and Alexei (who turns out to be another Red Room graduate) has an altered life span, being at minimum 25 (and more likely in his 70s) despite appearing and being treated as a teenager. This is probably the case for Ava as well even if she isn't aware of it. Her memories of her childhood were damaged and while she's recovered some of them, it doesn't seem to be complete.
+ Fencing: She's been taking fencing classes at the YMCA for probably about three years, and seems to have been good at this even before Natasha's skills started filtering into her to the degree that occurs later in the novel. Both her and Oksana were good enough that their teacher helped them be able to attend a competition in Philly, because she thought it was the next step for the girls.
+ Electrokinesis: Ava is able to generate and control electricity. However, as Forever Red is basically her origin story, we don't really know much about the scope and limits of her powers since she doesn't get them until the end of the book. However, Coulson seems more than a little impressed. That said, I expect there to be quite a learning curve regardless. At the end of the books she's mentioned to be using weapons to channel her powers to make them easier for her to control. She uses both guns as well as melee weapons; the book describes her shooting a gun, but there are no bullets and instead it's her power that strikes the targets, suggesting she has the potential for quite a bit of range once she can improve her control. She does seem to favor bladed weapons, specifically a pair of collapsible fencing foils that used to belong to Alexei altered specifically for that use.
+ Link to Natasha: This is no longer active; however, Ava does seem to keep the knowledge/skills that she was exposed to when it was, she just no longer gets spill-over from Natasha's thoughts, etc and it wouldn't work in game anyway. She still fights like Natasha, even at the end of the book. So she does have a level of badass-superspy, even if she uses it differently. Acrobatic jumps from thirty foot bridges, the ability to disengage a glock with a kick to the wrist, driving a motorboat, avoiding surveillance cameras, marksmanship, battle math/threat assessment and so on. This does have some lingering side effects, as it's probably a contributing factor to her nightmares.

strengths:
First and foremost, Ava is a survivor. She's able to adapt to just about any situation and make it work, whether it's torture at the hands of Ivan Somorodov, physical and psychic experimentation, or almost happily surviving on the streets of Brooklyn. No matter what the situation is, Ava always manages to come through the other side, and frequently in such a way that she's able to use it to her advantage, such as stealing SHIELD gear when she escapes from imprisonment, her reference that she “learned how to disappear”. It also comes with a certain amount of pragmatism – her friend Oksana complains about wanting cupcakes, and Ava points out that the fishsticks, stale thought they might be, are free. She's also very resilient. Her life has not been kind to her. From the death of her parents, the things she went through at the Red Room and with Ivan, and more recently with the death of her first love. She has been through things that can and will break people. And while it clearly hurts her, she works her way through things and resolves to keep moving. She might be cautious, but she does still trust people. Related to this is the fact that she still cares. Ava still wants relationships with people, she wants friends, she wants family, and she cares about the connections she makes with people. She does not allow the fact that she's been hurt to make her cold. If anything, because of how brutal her life has been she almost seems to value them that much more. In terms of physical safety she also seems prone to prioritizing those she cares about over herself, such as with how she tries to keep Alexei safe, even if it is ill-fated.

weaknesses:
#fightme: Ava is not exactly impulsive, but what she does have is a tendency to face conflict head on and take the most direct approach with most issues, which is not always the best idea. When Natasha walks back into her life after years of neglect, Ava punches her in the face, when faced with the prospect of being put back in lockup, she fights her way out of the Triskelion to go face the badguy herself because if she fixes the problem they wont have any reason left. Part of this can be attributed to the fact that she is a teenager, and there's definitely a certain amount of stubbornness involved, the fact that she doesn't want to play by other people's rules. The tie-in comic even coyly implies she's the sort to be attracted to sirens.
Antisocial: This is definitely in conflict with her desire to have people in her life, but she does seems to have trouble with people. She didn't want to compete in the fencing tournament, and Oksana had to almost beg to get Ava to go to a club with her for five minutes. Alexei even comments on how surprised he is that she came up and talked to him, because after getting to know her, he knows that she's not that kind of person, even describing her as a loner. Ava was on the streets for years, and yet she had only one friend, to the extent that she doesn't seem to have even have had other acquaintances.
Culture Blind: Just because of her life, Ava has not really been exposed to popular culture, either Russian or American except for the last year. Once she was taken away from Ivan, she was locked up by SHIELD, where she says that it was her first exposure to TV and that they only played C-SPAN to the extent that she didn't know other channels existed until after she escaped. Natasha got her an iPod for her 10th birthday, and Ava's still listened to those same songs, aside from what she might hear on the radio, or wandering through a mall. The movies she's seen are probably old VHS copies played at the YMCA or the homeless shelter where Oksana lives. She doesn't have a cell phone or the internet. She's not Steve Rogers, but she is just a little separated from the world around her.

job skills (optional): She would probably not be interested in a job, at least at first.
housing (optional): No preference, although she's likely to try to find unoccupied places she can hide until she gets more comfortable.

Ciel Phantomhive | Kuroshitsuji | Rserved

[personal profile] sweetlies 2017-07-02 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
player information
name: Tracy
age: 26
contact: plurk (lenneths_wings)
other characters: N/A

character information
name: Ciel Phantomhive
canon: Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji
canon point: End of chapter 129 (November 28, 1889)
age: 13

(canon) background: History
(original) world: N/A

abilities: Marksmanship, educated palate (can tell teas by their smell, not really an ability but he's just a human kid)

strengths:
Determined: Ciel's family was murdered on his tenth birthday and he was sold to a cult attempting to summon a demon. Rather than fall into catatonia like the other children, Ciel survived and formed a contract with a demon for the sake of vengeance. And making those who attempted to wipe out his family the same shame and humiliation that they made him feel.

Mature: Ciel's family was murdered, so he was forced to grow up very quickly to be a nobleman worthy of the Phantomhive name and Earldom. To solidify his position, he became well-educated and opened a company of his own.

Nobleman: As a Victorian era noble, Ciel dresses well, speaks well, and has had access to teh best education available in the time period.

Genuis: Ciel is incredibly intelligent, border genius if not crossing that line. He was given a nobles education and, even then, exceeds most expectations for a noble his age by starting and running a successful business (candy, food toys, entertainment).

Loyal: Ciel is loyal to his queen, and therefore his country. But also to his fiancee, Elizabeth, who he has, on several ocassions, risked his own safety to protect.

weaknesses:
Generally weak health: Ciel's health is very delicate, a trait he inherited from his mother as well as suffering from asthma. He gets sick very easily when exposed to the elements or is under extreme stress.

One eye: Because of the contract he made with Sebastian, Ciel only has one good eye since he wanted to be stronger than anyone else. (The more obviousl a contract is placed, the stronger the bond and the demon.) It's often covered.

Cynic: Ciel genuinely believes that other people act solely on matters that benefit them or that they can’t be trusted. The only people he’s shown to fully trust, or almost fully, are Tanaka, Sebastian and, briefly, Madam Red.

Stubborn: He detests being seen as weak or needing help. More often than not, he'll risk his health rather than admit he needs help or is sick.

PTSD: Ciel was starved and branded by a cult who sacrificed children to summon a demon. Though he escaped, he lives with constant reminders, has become generally distrusting, grim, prone to nightmares, or gets lost in memories of it. After the memories or nightmares, he panics and falls into fight or mode. He even sleeps with a gun under his pillow.

skills (optional): genius-level intellect, businessman, faustian contract, violinist, speaks Latin, French, and a smidge of German.
housing (optional): no preference

prose/action sample:

Without fail, Ciel continued to have nightmares ever since his escape from the cult that had tormented him and countless other children. Even after nearly four years had passed, they still came but so did the awareness that, now, he was outside the cage. They plagued him but the power it had over him and his rest had lessened until it wasn't terror that woke him but anger. Hatred.

Everything that kept his butler loyally at his side.

They didn't strike every night but Sebastian had gotten to know when they were. The young earl was always more determined after a nightmare, a little more viscious in handling the affairs the queen assigned him. Or when it came to situations that struck a little closer to home. He wanted plans made to deal with Sphere Music Hall in a way that they wouldn't be able to even attempt to continue their blood theft. Of course, it was clear just why this situation bothered him so much.

Before Edward had come to him, he would have handled it like Noah's Ark Circus and Baron Kelvin. Or Jack the Ripper. Now though, Elizabeth was invovled.

"There's a theatre across from Sphere Music Hall, put a bid on it in Funtom's name, would you Sebastian?" It was not a request, however politely he put it. "I have an idea."

This was why his butler stayed. A sly mind, unafraid of playing dirty or getting blood on his hands. Just as the head of the Villainous Nobles should be but never so much so that he would turn his back on his lady and the dangers she had gotten involved in.

character information
name: Kanji Tatsumi
canon: Persona 4
canon point: 9/07, after Social Link 5.
age: 15

(canon) background: Here

abilities: Kanji is stupidly strong, intimidating, and combative for his age, but not supernaturally so. The supernatural bit comes in with his ability to summon a Persona, the driving force of his personality given form and used to overcome adversity. His Persona manifests as Take-Mikazuchi, a hulking ~9' mechanical figure capable of powerful physical and electric attacks. (There are specific attacks this Persona uses, and would be about level 45, but they all boil down to hit-with-sword and shoot-with-lightning at various intensities.) Use of the Persona in combat is a physically and mentally draining act, and cannot be maintained too terribly long. In the series proper, he is unable to summon this Persona outside of the Midnight Channel, though your response to this question seems to extend this ability to Riverview as well.

strengths:
Passion. Anything worth doing is absolutely worth doing turned up to 11. Kanji possesses an indomitable force of character that permeates everything he does, which is often mistaken for rowdiness no matter its intentions. He's the kind of kid that can scare off an entire biker gang causing trouble in his neighborhood simply because the noise disturbed his mother. Whatever he puts his mind to, his whole heart will follow, and he will see it through, no matter the consequences.
Respect. Despite his apparent tendency to aggressively disregard authority at the slightest provocation, this is nothing more than an act. When no one is looking at him and expecting a fight, Kanji is surprisingly polite, especially to his upperclassmen. From this respect is born a ride-or-die loyalty to those who make an effort to accept and include him without judgment, and he is always ready to come to the defense of those who have earned his trust.
A gentle heart. Looks continue to deceive, considering how wildly violent Kanji's mood can swing at the drop of a hat, but it's once again part of his front. He's a kind and deeply caring individual, who's made dolls for an upset child and helps his mother around the house. With some encouragement, he can be a surprisingly thoughtful person, and though he might still shoot himself in the foot a great deal, he is slowly seeking to change himself for the better because of it.

weaknesses:
Insecurity. "If you are a man, you have to become strong," a phrase of his late father's, has been burned into his mind above anything else. On top of already persistent bullying at school for his fondness for cute things and feminine hobbies, he took the phrase to mean his father doubted his masculinity. Because of this, Kanji turned his entire image on its head, and keeping it held up like a shield against rejection and mockery has been the source of nearly all of his problems ever since. It caused him to spurn friendships and become a delinquent, something strong and brutish, while keeping his true hobbies a fiercely guarded secret.
A hot temper. His passion is somewhat of a double edged sword. With such a manly facade to maintain, Kanji's quick to remind anyone that questions it: he's a man with a hairpin trigger and he's ready to fight about it. Or at least ready to yell about fighting about it. He's chased his fellow classmates block after block for the slightest suggestion that they might think he's odd, and threatened to tear apart a restaurant for even less. Even though he isn't an inherently violent person, his desire to appear so often overrides this and gets him into scraps.
Intelligence. With his habit of skipping school and his brawn-over-brains mentality, Kanji is pretty slow on the uptake most of the time. He tends to speak bluntly and take the most direct course of action whenever he can, which leads to getting into plenty of misunderstandings and trouble with his friends.

job skills: Kanji wouldn't offer much more than his physical strength as a job attribute to strangers. He is, however, incredibly good at sewing, knitting, crocheting, and other crafts, as well as cooking.
housing: No preference.

Hey.

[ There's a frustrated face on the network, which only makes a jump from frustrated to irate once it's figured out exactly how to make a post. Cue accusatory jab at the camera. ]

Hey, the hell's the deal with this place? I'm gettin' real sick and tired'a being sucked into portal after portal after portal like this! They can take their "formal explanation" and shove it up their ass — I don't want an explanation, I wanna go home! I ain't too weird to live there, screw that! I got important shit going on. My friends need my help, my ma's all alone...

[ There's a flicker of concern that quiets his voice, if only for a fraction of a second before he's flaring up again. ]

So whose ass do I gotta kick to get outta here?

prose/action sample:
[ He's seen weirder. He's definitely seen weirder in the past couple months, but this is the kinda weird that reserves itself for the Midnight Channel. But nah, they're just out here. Loose. Giant-ass chickens, romping around the city like they own the place, which they sure as hell don't. Nobody's got time for this, he's barely got time to think about this, it's time to round them up and put an end to the nonsense. ]

Get back here, you feathery asshole!

[ Turns out shouting and sprinting around after the energetic Chocobos isn't exactly the smartest approach, but without the rest of the squad to back him up, it's the only plan he's got. Eventually a downy juvenile with some similar tunnel-vision has the mind to dart down an alley, only to come upon the smooth stone wall of a dead end. Skidding in to a halt behind it, Kanji hovers for a second, just to catch his breath. ]

[ Okay, not to catch his breath. With nowhere else to run, the stupid fluffy thing is peeping and squawking up a storm, wings slapping uselessly at the cobbles as it makes a stupid effort to scrabble up the wall, to no avail. It's really pathetic. ]

[ ... But also kinda cute. ]

C'mon you oversized rooster, chill out. We're tryin'a help you here... [ Kanji's steps slow to a crawl, heels as quiet on the pavement as he can muster. He's not a stealthy guy, even at the best of times, and the startled chick's not having any of it. Its anxious chirps escalate into dissonant piercing noises of distress, and he half-winces half-growls in frustration. But before he can make a grab for it, a far louder caw booms from the mouth of the alley. Spinning around, Kanji freezes at the sight of an adult Chocobo, feathers ruffled furiously. ]

[ Momma's pissed. Luckily(?) rising to match her is like flipping a switch. ]

Hey, shut up! This ain't Chicken City, pal, you gotta go! I'm takin' both of you down!

[ And without a moment's hesitation, this kid is charging headlong at a fully grown Chocobo, arms raised and primed to tackle. ]

name: Dave Strider
canon: Homestuck
canon point: Post-ending
age: 20

(canon) background: Homestuck wiki
(original) world: n/a

abilities:
Time Travel:
The ability to travel back and forth through time. He can create loops to alter the future, but he must maintain a stable loop or he risks creating alternate timeline. The only way to end an alternate timeline is to kill the non-alpha Dave (the Dave that doesn't follow the true timeline).

He can travel as little as a few seconds and as much as a thousand years, he can also bring people with him.

Although this is a game-breaking power, Dave is extremely reluctant to use it and doesn't take it lightly.

Immortality:
Due to the level he's ascended to in the game, he's unable to die by normal means such as starvation, dehydration or natural causes. The only way he can die is if he's killed in a heroic or just manner, so it must be either self-sacrificing or he needs to be taken down.

Flight:
Self explanatory.

Heightened agility:
Dave can zip back and forth at inhuman speeds. This may be related to time travel, but other characters are capable of it.

He's particularly agile, even if we act as if his agility is not a power. He can run, jump and climb with finesse.

strengths:
Loyalty
Dave is a devoted friend, once you get him warmed up. He doesn't have many friends, so he values the ones he has. He gets to know his friend's interests, discusses them and buys gifts with sentimental value and always lend an ear in a time of need.

When situations are dire, he'll sacrifice his happiness, he'll travel back in time to stop his friends fucking up and often drops the cool facade just long enough to tell people he's there to help them.

Creativity/Wit:
Humor is emotional armor for Dave, as well as an endearing trait. Dave is known for his word play, his ramblings and his wide variety of pop-culture references. Despite coming off as inane and bizarre, he's intelligent. He's well-spoken with a large vocabulary and peppers his words with references from literature, history and politics. He's reacts fast and he's very observant.

He has a creative streak and dabbles in art that is "so dumb, it's brilliant". His art looks like garbage, but it's intentional. It's a car crash with social commentary and toilet humor. He raps, enjoys photography and mixes his own music.

Compassion:
In trying times, Dave is concerned with those around him, more so than himself. Dave cares deeply, he observes and expresses concern when he notices a change in people. He puts on a show of being reluctant to care, but he allows people to vent with him and offers advice.

When he can't help, he feels hopeless and often takes it as a reflection on himself.

Preparedness:
Dave knows the functions of the game before he plays and comes out with the techniques he believes are the most "effective". His powers require forward thinking, and he plans ahead. He's training when the threat of the Big Bad looms, devising all the outcomes and his role in them.

weaknesses:
Anxiety/Self Doubt:
Dave does not perceive himself in a positive light, and is filled with self-doubt. Sometimes he closes himself off from people, he's insincere in the way he talks and he pretends he doesn't care about things. His concerns come through when he speaks, though he tries to act as nonchalant as possible.

His doubts stemmed from not living up to the standards his guardian set, given that he was the center of Dave's world and an impossibly cool and talented guy. Dave emulated him in everything, which lead to comparing himself constantly and falling short.

Dave has uncertainty about his abilities, about the future and about people's perception of him, and it often troubles him more than he'd like to admit. It makes him hold himself back, by ignoring opportunities and feeling too reluctant to utilize his full potential.

Awkward:
Dave can be extremely charming, but this is unintentional. Dave's social graces leave much to be desired, and he blurts out things that bring conversations to a stop. It plays into his humor, which can either be crude or difficult to understand. It makes it hard for people to connect with him, but he can't bring himself to reel it in.

He's also a teenage boy, and he has all the baggage that comes with that.

Forgetfulness:
Dave is prone to playing himself, frequently. He loses his place when reading, he forgets the initial point of discussions, he forgets names and constantly forgets the alien terms his alien friends teach him. When he forgets a word, he will poorly try to replace it with words he knows to save face. It can be easy to befuddle him with a prank, if you get him off track.

job skills (optional):
Dave is creative and clever, he's best with art and writing but he also enjoys photography. He'd be happy with any mundane job, he's interested in living a "normal" life.
housing (optional):

character information
name: Magnus Bane
canon: Shadowhunters (TV)
canon point: Season 2 Episode 10 + three months CR AU
age: physically late twenties, mentally over 400

(canon) background: Magnus | Shadowhunters Wikia
CR AU: Into the Pines
Magnus remembers visiting the town of Wayward Pines once with his new husband, Alec Lightwood, before moving there. While driving across the United States, their car broke down outside of the town and they were forced stayed there several nights while their car was being fixed. Meeting the locals and being easily accepted by them inspired the couple to move there and settle down a short time later, though all of these memories are false.

After experiencing a car accident—another false memory—Alec was the first person Magnus remembered upon sight. They both shared memories of kissing at weddings, presumably their own, and found what they believed to be wedding rings in their personal belongings. They also owned a large house that they were informed they had bought before the car accident. Believing themselves to be newlyweds, they started befriending the townsfolk and settling into the life they couldn't remember choosing for themselves but were happy for the opportunity to live. Having experienced discrimination from multiple sources back home, they saw Pines as a fresh start.

Spending most of their time adjusting to "mundane" life among humans, the couple made friends and connections within the town. Again, their friendships were strengthened with false memories of certain townsfolk, but they never questioned anything. Having Alec's sister, Isabelle, come to live with them further solidified the life they were building for themselves in Wayward Pines. Magnus started to believe that they could have a family of sorts made up of friends and loved-ones.

Then monsters attacked the town, and that image of a perfect life came crashing down. They joined the battle against the creatures, Magnus nearly draining himself of all energy to help protect defenseless citizens while others were fighting. This led to the revelation that the town was not as happy and quaint as it appeared, and was actually an arc to save humanity from a deadly mutagen that raged beyond the town's walls. This led Magnus to seriously rethink his place in the world, especially given that many of his memories may not have been real. However, as his memories of marrying Alec are tied to New York, he still believes them to be true.

Magnus' relationship with Alec Lightwood was definitely the most influential part of his stay in Wayward Pines. Though they are canonically dating, they were given memories of knowing each other longer than they have in reality which adds weight to their relationship. Additionally, they lost many memories of specific events as well as the details of their lives. All of this is important because they are from different versions of the same universe: Magnus is from the television show, and Alec is from the books. Though the characters and general plot are largely the same, there are also huge differences in the timeline and events. These differences would normally lead them to discovering that they were from different dimensions, causing several problems for them. Other than dealing with the knowledge that they don't know each other as well as believed, they could also become unsure of whether or not they should carry on with a relationship as it might feel like they're "cheating" on each others' real partners. However, with memories of being husbands as well as the three months they spent together as a married couple in Pines, that concern would be greatly lessened.

Another important aspect of Magnus' time in Pines was how he started to build a life away from the comfort and familiarity of New York. As one of the oldest warlocks around, he had become jaded and largely closed off to building any kind of relationship with humans as well as the majority of Downworlders. However, during his time in Pines he experienced both "normal" life as well as survival events which drew him closer to his community and humans in general. Because he was forced to believe he had chosen a domestic life and settled down in what he thought to be a normal town, he became far more open to letting new people into his life. This was strengthened by Isabelle Lightwood's arrival as she lived with the married couple and further intensified the feeling of having a family to protect rather than just himself.
abilities:
Physically, Magnus appears to be mostly human with a few key differences. Warlocks bear physical manifestations of their demon blood called "marks," which for Magnus are golden cat-like eyes with vertical slit pupils. His demon blood also makes him immortal, and he has stopped aging, though he is by no means invincible. Also, being a warlock gives him the Sight that allows him to perceive the secret supernatural world as well as see through glamors.

As a warlock, and a very old and experienced one at that, Magnus is able to perform a wide variety of spells as well as brew potions. Most commonly casting magic with his hands, his fingers spark with blue flames when performing a spell. He can be limited by a couple of things: the supplies at his disposal, the amount of energy he has, and any previous knowledge of whatever magic he's attempting to cast. Below is a list of magic he's been seen performing, from most common to least, and I'm happy to leave the nerfing up to the mods to decide what needs to be limited.
  • Glamors: a passive magic that hides something from view, either by turning it invisible or covering it with a disguise; Magnus uses one daily to hide his cat eyes and make them appear brown
  • Conjuring: either creating items or transporting them between desired locations; limited by the need to know where something is located before he can manipulate it
  • Portals: transport people anywhere they can picture clearly in their minds; no limit to the distance, though there's strong evidence portals don't work between dimensions
  • Wards: a variety of magical barriers that can keep out demons or other attackers as well as quarantine an area by locking everyone within
  • Fire: what it says on the tin; sometimes playful and harmless blue magic, other times dangerous red flames
  • Healing: can cure a variety of magical conditions, via potions or spells, as well as reduce pain; has also been seen doing some mental/spiritual healing, such as keeping a soul tied to its body when it was threatening to wander
  • Tracking: can locate people using items that belonged to them; doesn't work across large bodies of water
  • Summoning: can call demons, either from freely walking around on Earth or from the demon dimension; can also contain them within pentagrams, though more powerful demons can't be controlled for very long
  • Offensive: physical blasts of magical energy used to attack opponents
  • Defensive: shields of magical energy he can use on himself or others
  • Inspection: depicted in a variety of ways, but essentially able to scan areas for magic, demonic influence, etc
  • Strength transference: can drawn energy from Shadowhunters and possibly other sources of magical energy, such as those with demon blood or, cross-canon, other abilities; has also given strength to others when healing wasn't an immediate option
  • Memory manipulation: able to remove memories as well as recall them and manifest them into physical images
  • CR AU: Other than magic, Magnus is also trained in weaponized and hand-to-hand combat. He favors medium-range melee weapons, such as the guandao or sword. He's also decent at archery, sometimes favoring magical arrows rather than physical ones. He's received training from a couple of Shadowhunters, and while he doesn't have the natural skill or grace of one, he can handle himself in a fight if necessary.

    strengths:
Magnus is dedicated to those closest to him regardless of race. Because of his history of being confused and alone as a young Downworlder, rejected by his family at the age of nine, he has a habit of taking in people who are like him and in need of guidance. One example is Simon Lewis, a recently-turned vampire who is abandoned by his kind. Though Magnus doesn't know him well personally, he agrees to help him. Magnus also becomes loyal to Alec Lightwood after seeing how unhappy and unappreciated he is. Magnus works hard to help Alec be happier and more confident despite how others treat or view him because of his sexuality.

As High Warlock of Brooklyn, he also has a strong sense of duty though he markets himself as someone who only looks after himself. Magnus is protective of other warlocks, giving them shelter or rescuing them from danger. Despite disliking and distrusting Shadowhunters, Magnus allows himself to be pulled into their war because he believes that he needs to help protect the Downworld. When it's discovered that Camille, an ex-lover and long-term friend, has been breaking the law by turning humans into vampires unwillingly, Magnus aids in her capture and arrest.

Confidence is another strength that Magnus possesses. The first is that he has confidence in his abilities, knowing the strength of his magic and often flaunting it. Yet he doesn't trivialize it, expertly using magic when needed with awareness of his limitations. Secondly, he is confident in his bisexuality and doesn't allow others to look down on him because of it. This is one of the reasons he's able to realize the struggle that Alec has with his sexuality as well as help teach him to understand that there is nothing wrong with being gay.

    weaknesses:
Magnus has the tendency to distance himself from everyone. Having lived centuries, he's experienced not only loss of mortals he grew close to, but he's also the ugly parts of humanity, Shadowhunters, and Downworlders. Though he puts up the facade of feeling various surface emotions, most of them fleeting, he is largely jaded as well as callous to the point where it can be doubted if any of his feelings are genuine. He enjoys toying with others, flirting for momentary thrills, and otherwise distracting himself with hedonistic pastimes. He doesn't feel much compassion for people who end up in situations designed by their own stupidity, and he doesn't indulge others in unrealistic plans or fantasies because Magnus is surprisingly pragmatic, for all his decadent hobbies.

Another product of Magnus' long life and countless experiences is that he can be rather elitist and discriminatory. Magnus has a negative view of humans due to the fact that they have systematically feared and sought to destroy things that they don't understand. Magnus also feels superior to Shadowhunters, both because of their strict adherence to the unyielding and often unrealistic Law that guides their society and, ironically, because of their own elitist beliefs that Shadowhunters are superior to all other beings. There's an interesting play within Magnus between feeling superior because he is a warlock, and also some darker feelings due to his demon ancestry.

However, once Magnus does allow someone to get close to him, they can be considered a weakness as well. He operates on two extreme ends of the spectrum, either uninterested in helping those he is unattached to or willing to risk his safety for those he loves. The best example of this is Alec. Magnus allows himself to be drawn into countless dangerous situations that he would otherwise steer clear of due to his preference for remaining uninvolved with the politics and power struggles between Shadowhunters.

    job skills (optional):
  • bartending, magical visual effects included
  • fashion/interior design, possibly a personal shopper
  • life guidance counseling (definitely mentioned by Alec and not Magnus himself)
  • housing (optional): high preference for sharing an apartment with Alec Lightwood; also, if possible, living on the same floor as any other Shadowhunter cast

    character information
    name: Undertaker
    canon: Kuroshitsuji - Black Butler
canon point: End of issue 129
age: Unknown, but he is at the very least 50 and has not aged past his late 20's or early 30's

(canon) background: Fairly detailed info here
    (original) world: None

    abilities:
    - Undertaker can teleport himself to any location as shown when he vanished from off the broken decks of the Campania to safety from somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic ocean between the UK and New York. Given that this part of ocean is about 3,400 miles across, it's safe to say his range of motion for teleportation is perhaps half that, 1,700 miles to get him at least to the nearest shore. This may need to be nerfed for the game.

    - He is a very skilled fighter, seen when he easily manages to fight off two other grim reapers and a demon at the same time in that same arc in the manga, and he doesn't have to rely on his vision to be so. As with all grim reapers, his sight was diminished and he is very nearsighted, but he does not wear glasses anymore and has learned to work around this disability quite well.

    - Undertaker cannot be killed by conventional means. He is a grim reaper, and to earn that title, one must have committed suicide while still alive, so he is already technically dead. In the manga, it is commented that a reaper cannot be beaten to death, but may be able to be killed by their own death scythe, a tool unique to the grim reapers alone. If he needs to fight, Undertaker will, and he will prove to be a very difficult opponent.

    strengths:
    - If nothing else, Undertaker is very difficult to anger. Throughout the series, manga and anime alike, he has shown himself to be always smiling (ie - grinning like an idjit) or laughing at or amused by something. Some might say he's more than a little strange with it, but even when he goes serious, it's hard to find his lips without a positive curve.

    - Despite the creepy factor, Undertaker's links to the underworld of his society make him a valuable informant. He studies his "clients" (the deceased who he must pretty up for their funeral) and gains information from what he finds and who he finds, and from who brings them in to him, and either keeps that to himself or passes it along to whoever might find it noteworthy. Through his trade, he managed to land himself in a high social standing with the elites of the underworld, making him both repulsive and respected.

    - Undertaker has lived a long time in hiding from the grim reaper life, and in doing so, he has learned to live on his own and keep to himself with little outside influence. Some people might find that difficult, but he has kept no assistant and manages his business alone, giving him the freedom to do with it what he likes with no one to interrupt him.

    weaknesses:
    - One of his biggest weaknesses is curiosity, his want to tamper with things that maybe should best be left alone that ultimately cause trouble for others. When he wanted to see what happens after death, if a person could be made to live again, for example, he ended up creating a small army of what were essentially zombies that he set loose on a ship full of living humans. Fun times, fun times.

    - Undertaker has a need for laughter, and not just any kind. He wants something that has his sides splitting, something so amusing he can't help himself. He holds it in such great value he considers it his currency and if someone can make him laugh hard enough, he'll tell them anything they want to know.

    - He also carries an attachment to a certain belt, a mourning chain with names and dates inscribed and bits of hair of people who are, as of yet, mostly unidentified. Losing it to Ciel during the fight on the Campania is thus far the only event to break his composure, but only for a moment. In the next, he was willing to let Ciel keep it for a while, keep it safe.

    job skills (optional):
    - Knows a great deal about human anatomy and how things inside work

    - Can do cosmetic repair to make a person beautiful again, though his methods may not be the most conventional

    - Can tell you how a person died if given a chance to examine a body, if the cause is not immediately known

    housing (optional): No preference

[Hello, network. Hope you don't mind this creepy face filling your screen this evening. If you do, well, that's sad for you. Undertaker has for you a wide grin and a giggle, and really, he can't help himself today.]

Really, I must say, this new technology of yours is quite fascinating. To think, something like this would ever be invented. I suppose it was inevitable. I'm told that we're not to leave this world for some time, so it looks like I'll be getting nice and comfy while I'm around.

[His grin doesn't falter here. On the contrary, it widens.] But isn't that wonderful news? You and me, us and we? I've had such fun already, it would be a terrible shame if it all went away now.

    character information
    name: Link
canon: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
canon point: Mid-game, specifically after he wakes from the Shrine of Resurrection, leaves the Great Plateau and manages to free Vah Ruta and Vah Rudania from Ganon. He’s recovered a handful of memories, but not all. Please let me know if you need more specifics.
age: ~17 (Not counting the 100 years he was in stasis)

    (canon) background: Here
    (original) world: N/A

abilities: Link is an accomplished knight and is well trained in a variety of weapons, including broadswords, shields, archery, claymores, and spears/halberds. He is also a skilled horseman who is capable of training horses captured wild and also able to engage in combat on horseback. He also has survivalist skills and has knowledge on Hyrule’s plant and animal life to be able to cook and make elixers (the game’s version of potions/medicines.) Of course, this may not apply very well to Riverview as he wouldn’t have any knowledge of anything not found within Hyrule. While Link is never shown in-game of crafting, given his survivalist skills I would think that he also has some knowledge of making his own weapons, though they would be simple and of low durability.

Link also obtains powers given by each Champion he has freed from Calamity Ganon, though I would expect each of these to be nerfed at Riverview due to the fact that it seems that Link must have some kind of contact with their spirits in order for them to work. (Also, it might make him a bit OP, so I’m willing to do without them regardless of what canon point I choose.)

strengths: Link is the strong and silent type, and there’s both good and bad things about that. When it comes to a serious or potentially life-threatening situation, Link is good to turn to as he tends to keep his cool and doesn’t falter under pressure. He has a very clear sense of duty and believes that he should use his strengths to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. When assigned as Princess Zelda’s personal guard, he’s met with a very frustrated Zelda as she doesn’t believe she needs one. (There are other factors that make her frustrated with Link’s presence, though they’re not relevant here.) Despite being ordered to leave, Link continues to follow Zelda, though often unseen to keep an eye on her. (He was ordered by her father, the King of Hyrule to protect her, and one could also come to the conclusion that the King’s orders are to be followed before the Princess’.) When she does run into trouble, Link is there to drive off the assailants and their relationship improves.
Back off that tangent, Link is a good listener. As a part of his altruistic nature, Link likes to help others if he can and will often go out of his way to do so. However, he’s not one to be taken advantage over as he does expect some kind of compensation for his efforts, though he wouldn’t expect unfair payments. (That is, he’s not going to expect a poor traveler to cough up a lot of money for his help, but he’s fine with receiving a meal or other resources.)

weaknesses: Link’s “strong and silent” personality of course has it’s downsides. Part of the reason of his rocky start with Zelda is his silence, as it can be off-putting. His lack of outward emotion also makes it harder to form social relationships and people do seem annoyed with it from time to time. His determination could possibly be interpreted as stubbornness by some. His willingness to risk his neck for others is often seen as a good trait, but it does put his risk of injury and death a lot higher for that, and Zelda herself remarks about how his courage runs very close along the lines of recklessness. Link seems to have the philosophy that “you don’t know until you try,” though at times he does try to do something without giving it as much thought and preparation as he should.

job skills (optional): Link would join the Surveyors in the Perimeter Guard, though not right away. In keeping with how I play Breath of the Wild, Link would want to get his bearings in the city, get to know people and maybe do a few odd jobs if he could before eventually joining. Link could also be an instructor for archery, swords, and spears.

housing (optional): I have no preference, and Link wouldn’t either. It’s very likely that whatever housing he’s given he won’t use much.

    network username: Link

network sample: Does anyone know the source of the monsters outside of the city? I noticed that defenses for the city are more focused on any attacks that might be made by the creatures outside of the city, but it might be worth it to look into where they come from and wiping them out at the source to allow people to move outside of the city and expand on resources.

Whether or not anyone knows, I’m preparing to go out myself on reconnaissance. If anyone’s interested or knows anything that might help, please let me know.

prose/action sample: Link stood up and stretched to get rid of any stiffness from sitting by the fire all night. He quickly ate a simple, yet filling breakfast before putting out the last embers of the fire and emerging from the overhang where he had made camp for the night.
He had begun exploring the abandoned city the day before, but so far hadn’t found anything worth noting, though was surprised at the lack of monsters around. The decayed buildings and broken roads was a strong reminder of the world he had been pulled from, as the Calamity had left the civilization of Hyrule in shambles, and monsters roamed freely in most places there as well. The architecture and scale were different, but the situation he found himself in was more or less the same as before he had arrived in Riverview.

Link had been exploring for a couple hours, pushing for the edge of the abandoned city and the beginning of the wilder areas around when he heard movement from something nearby. He crouched and slowly and silently around the decayed walls, taking care to look out for anything before moving from one hiding spot to the next. He eventually came upon a creature he had never seen before, but it was clear that it was one of the monsters he had heard about back in the city.

The monster was quite large, at least three times Link’s size. Its body was like that of a person, just really big, but it’s head didn’t seem to fit it as it was that of a bull. It was rooting around the overgrowth as if looking for something, and a large make-shift weapon hammer made from a large steel rod and the head made of cracking concrete. It reminded Link of the lynels that he had encountered around Hyrule, and he made a mental note to be extra careful not to alert it to his presence, at least, not until he knew if there were any more nearby.

Slowly, Link made his way around to look for higher ground to get a better look of the place and to see if this monster was alone. Thankfully, it seemed preoccupied with something, so it wasn’t hard to get by. Link made it to a crumbling, but still somewhat stable pillar that used to hold up an overpass and started to climb, making sure he wouldn’t be in sight of the monster he had found. Once he made it to the top, it was easy to see that this thing was indeed alone. Good. Time to see what it was made of. Link quietly took out his bow and knocked and arrow, taking aim at the creature. He wouldn’t know how it fought unless he saw it firsthand.

    name: Keith
    canon: Voltron: Legendary Defender
canon point: End of Season 2
    age: late teens (17-19, approx)

    (canon) background: http://vld.wikia.com/wiki/Keith http://voltron.wikia.com/wiki/Keith_(Legendary_Defender)

    abilities:
    - Pilot: Keith is noted as being considered the most talented pilot of his generation. He was often top of his class in piloting while at the Garrison, and he had quite a few self-appointed rivals that he was apparently unaware of. He navigates and reacts on instinct more than conscious thought, and is quite aggressive in his style
    - Fighter: Like his piloting, Keith is an aggressive melee fighter. He tends to prefer weapons like swords and blades, has no trouble switching hands as needed, and can even dual-wield two blades at once.
    - Instinct: Keith has fast reaction times, which are an essential trait for both piloting and fighting. He has the ability to react without having to think in situations where speed is important.
    - Endurance: Keith has the ability to push well beyond his limits when necessary. Even when clearly on the verge of collapse, he has this innate ability to dig deep and keep going. He also never backs down from a challenge, which can be both a plus and a minus, depending on the situation.
    - Seeing the Big Picture: Keith can look at things from an outsider's point of view, and detach himself from personal feelings about situations. This gives him the ability to see what's really important in any situation, and not let his own biases get in the way.

    strengths:
    - Loyal: Keith will stand by his team no matter what. Once he gets attached, that attachment runs pretty deep, and he'll fight for them and defend them whenever needed.
    - Potential: Keith still has a lot to learn and hone in all his abilities, but his natural skill, ability to absorb, and potential to excel are high.
    - Takes Feedback: Keith can take criticism and learn from it to change his direction and thoughts on something. If someone pushes back against an idea or comment, Keith will step back and rethink it through.

    weaknesses:
    - Impulsive: Keith does everything on instinct. He's very much an, "act first, think later," kind of person. He often has to be reeled back in from his actions and reminded to be patient.
    - Impatient: Keith is not good at waiting or sitting. He's a man of action. If there's a battle to be had, he's in all the way.
    - Short-tempered: Keith is easily frustrated when things don't go his way. This can range anywhere from a smoldering burn to a full-on explosion, depending on how much else is going on at the time.
    - Stubborn: Keith doesn't give up easily. Once he's set on something, he'll go all the way until he either gets the answer he needs, succeeds at the task, or fails spectacularly. He's extremely determined and can be pretty single-minded when something is important enough to him. For all the times he is able to pull back and look at the forest (so to speak), he still has to resist the urge to focus on that one tree.
    - Competitive: Keith doesn't often start a rivalry with someone. However, if someone steps up and challenges his skill or offers him something to compete over, he'll take it, and he'll do so with the intention to win. He doesn't back down easily, and will push his challenger to their limits, even if it means going up to and potentially past his own.

    character information
    name: The Ninth Doctor
    canon: Doctor Who
    canon point: Post-regeneration.
age: 900 years old, which may or may not be rounded down. Physically, he appears to be around 40.

    (canon) background: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Ninth_Doctor

    abilities:

Sense: The Doctor has more fine-tuned senses than ordinary humans, including smell, taste, and hearing. As an example, he's able to identify and detect various substances (the presence of ozone, for one), and he claims he can follow and locate people based on their scent. Although, considering that he was joking at the time he claimed this as an ability, it's not completely clear whether it is an ability or if the Doctor just is good at tracking people down.

Telepathy: The Doctor is telepathic, specifically by touch. He can gather information without it, but most of the time, he requires contact to use his abilities. His telepathy is used mainly as a defense mechanism to protect himself, but it has other uses too. This particular incarnation didn't appear to use it all that often, at least not in ways that was depicted in the series.

Time sense: As a Time Lord, the Doctor is keenly aware of the passage of time, and of events that are in flux or fixed. Fixed points can't be changed, whereas points in time that are in flux have a little bit of leeway attached to them. He also says at one point that he can feel the turn of the earth. That's how in tune to things he is.

Respiratory bypass: This simply means that due to his unique physiology, the Doctor can survive without oxygen far longer than ordinary humans can, if he should happen to find himself in a situation where air is not available.

Regeneration: This mechanism takes effect when the Doctor is close to death, at which point he regenerates into a new body, complete with a new personality. It's meant to ensure his survival, but it won't be in effect in game.

    strengths:

Quick-thinking: He's reasonably good at coming up with plans on the fly, and while not all of them work the way he intends, that too is something he's good at: coming up with plan B basically on the spot.

Resilience: On the whole, the Doctor is a survivor. He survived the Time War that claimed his entire species (not by choice, as he puts it himself), but generally speaking, he's made from tougher stuff than ordinary humans. He has two hearts, which has the added benefit of enabling him to keep going, even if one of them is disabled. He's not invulnerable to things like poison or gunshots, as examples, but he's just harder to bring down.

Selflessness: The Doctor tends to be more selfless than selfish. For all the times that he denounces humans as stupid apes, he won't hesitate to jump into danger to save them. After all, he's a Time Lord, someone who will go on living for quite awhile yet, whereas humans only have one lifetime. He'd rather save one human than save himself. That's not to say he doesn't like living, but he really doesn't view himself as more important than humans. If he can save just one person, then of course he's going to try.

weaknesses: The Doctor has a blind spot that appears when he's dealing with a problem that needs solving. He often overlooks major details that will help in getting to the solution and end result, even when they're right in front of him.

For instance, he had just worked out that the great threat of the day required a huge transmitter to send lots of information at once, meaning said transmitter would need to be huge, very noticeable, and right in the middle of London. The irony of all those statements is that they were being said while the Doctor was looking straight at a transmitter without seeing it until it was pointed out.

Also, under moments of stress or extreme pressure, the Doctor can become abrasive, insulting, and overly critical. He frequently uses the phrase "stupid apes" referring to humans when they've done something extraordinarily dumb or catastrophically dangerous. Rose will often apologize for the Doctor, which doesn't change the fact that he's too harsh and quick to insult people who disappoint or annoy him.

The Doctor lived a long time, seen and done some terrible things, and gained more knowledge than most people will ever know in their lifetime. He can be terribly arrogant, and he usually justifies his actions with a sort of "Doctor knows best" mentality, even against the wishes of others. During a life-and-death situation, during which the Doctor knew he was most likely going to die, he made the decision to send Rose back to her own time and home, without taking into account her desires and wishes. Of course she wanted to stay with him, but he didn't give her that choice, knowing he couldn't stand it if she died too. In his mind, that made his decision the best one, and the only one.

skills (optional): N/A for now, although he might eventually start sniffing around the university a bit, because why not use some of that knowledge he has about planets and space and things?

housing (optional): Communal housing is fine, although the Doctor probably won't use it very often. He tends to wander around more often than not, so he would most likely use it as a place to store things.

    character information
    name: Angeal Hewley
canon: Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII
    canon point: Death
    age: 25

    (canon) background: here.
    (original) world: N/A

abilities: Angeal is an excellent swordsman, able to face Sephiroth and Genesis simultaneously in battle, by using his treasured buster sword's handle to block Sephiroth’s blow and a soldier Shin Ra sword to block Genesis. For his sword skills, he mainly uses the soldier sword and only once in a great while does the Buster sword see use. He doesn’t use magic really, except once, but relies on his strength and swordsmanship to handle any difficulties.

His strength is immense, able to wield the Buster sword with one hand, and leap through the air with it. And even though he has the strength and skill to wield the sword, he is shown getting into a fighter's stance with his bare hands and his attacks are physical blows when Zack lines his picture up in the dmw slot wheels, which is a limit break or a move capable of dealing very heavy damage.

Angeal is also skilled with technology such as cell phones or computer or simulation equipment. He can also make copies of himself and they do his bidding, having received Jenova cells, allowing him to absorb creature traits and implant them. But even with all of the things he can do, he is still susceptible to degradation, which is akin to premature aging and graying/whitening of the hair from having received Jenova cells and the ability to produce copies.

He had one other ability and that's the ability to fly with the white wings he has, one is large and one is smaller, both on his right shoulder, and they enable him to fly with ease. And at one point, he had a few different creatures merge with him to create a boss creature known as Angeal Penance. Angeal also had the ability to direct one of the creatures that made up the boss after his death to protect those Zack cared about and deliver a letter to Zack from Aerith. So he could direct these creatures to watch over Zack even though he was dead.

    strengths:

Loyal: Angeal refers to Genesis as 'the wealthy man's son' and that said person was his friend one day when he's walking with Zack to their mission in Wutai. Angeal grew up poor and never took a dumbapple from the 'wealthy man's estate/tree' for that reason. And when Genesis later defected from ShinRa, Angeal took it hard and silently upon himself to go look for him.

Protector: Angeal is very patient with his subordinate Zack Fair. And no matter what the other gets into, Angeal is there to help. In Wutai, Zack had been battling a behemoth and Angeal showed up at the end of it, finishing off a monster so it wouldn't harm Zack. Before that, Angeal had protected him from the computer generated Sephiroth program. And he took the hit on Zack's fallen blade in order to keep his subordinate safe from harm.

Caring:. The three First Classmen had been dueling and Genesis received an injury through a simulator program by breaking his sword and a piece hit his shoulder. When Genesis becomes hurt, Angeal shows concern though the other brushes off the incident saying it's just a scratch. It turned out though that the scratch went further than that, and required a blood transfusion. Angeal is there waiting for news along with Sephiroth, and when they hear the news, Angeal moves Sephiroth out of the way to do a blood transfusion for his friend.

    (238 words)

    weaknesses:

Self hatred/loathing - Angeal had sprouted white wings, one larger, one smaller and both on the right side. When Angeal confronts Zack and shows his wings, he thinks that they're hideous and something only a monster would have, saying that he's become a monster. Zack refutes this, and says that they're not monster's wings they're the wings of an angel. Somewhat confused by this, Angeal asks what an angel should fight for and concludes with saying that all angels dream of is to be human.

Confused - He always went on and on about honour and how one should embrace their dreams. But when he defects from ShinRa to follow Genesis, Angeal teamed up with Genesis against ShinRa at one point. And when his mother commits suicide, Angeal doesn't try and defend himself against accusations, even literally turning his back on Zack, walking off alone. He turns and works for the 'enemy' Professor Hollander, and protects him from Zack as well. However, later Angeal comes back to his senses and puts some work in for ShinRa again.

Secretive When Genesis goes missing, Angeal tells no one of his plans to go find his childhood friend. And although he's left Zack in line for a Promotion which he didn't tell Zack of until last minute, Angeal takes off after the Wutai mission to go look for his friend. Also he never stated to Zack that the wealthy man's son was none other than Genesis.

Guilt When Zack faces Genesis, afterwards Angeal shows remorse, saying that he was the one that should've dealt with Genesis. And when his mother kills herself, Angeal is numb, and later states that his mother could not continue to live, nor can the son.

I see you managed to actually grow one of these things without killing it.

[The device pans around to show a few more things growing and Angeal kneels down and checks a few, this time his tone is completely serious, being experienced at having grown plants back home.]

Hope you have a watering can, these other ones are going to dry up soon and die if they're not watered.

[Angeal turns and is overheard talking to someone unseen. With a sigh and shake of the head, he's given a watering can.]

I'm not going to do this every day I hope you know.

    [The feed shuts off.]

prose/action sample: (From a previous game)

Angeal's eyes lifted to the pale full orb in the sky, judging by it to be somewhere near midnight. Taking a deep breath of the night air, he sighed and tried to relax, thinking on the mission for tomorrow. Wutai was no different than any other mission, yet Zack was late and Angeal checked his watch a few times. They were supposed to over last minute things and plans and Angeal wanted to make sure Zack had everything straight. In the other's over zealousness and eagerness, it was easy for him to overlook and forget some really important things at times.

Finally Zack appeared and he received a sigh and Angeal folding his arms across his chest. After Zack received a lecture, Angeal then went over the basics like formations and orders. He half wondered if his young student was actually getting all of it, but sometimes (ok well most times really) repeating things didn’t hurt and actually helped because they were missed the first time around. Luckily Angeal had patience and people always benefited from that, Zack especially.

Once Zack left, Angeal shook his head and watched the departing figure. He couldn’t know of the promotion he was about to receive, nor had Angeal let it slip. But it was time, he had other things to do which didn’t involve the current hierarchy, but it was a decision he’d made and come to out of a lifelong loyalty to a friend. That was something Shinra couldn’t even bother to even try to compare to in any way shape or form. He’d told no one of his plans, not even Sephiroth. This was something he had to do on his own. If he was lucky, he could bring Genesis back home, because otherwise he would be hunted down like a dog.

    character information
    name: Yuki Sohma
    canon: Fruits Basket
    canon point: Post manga
    age: 17/18

    (canon) background: here, Yuki
    (original) world: N/A

abilities: He is very smart, having taken time to tutor Tohru Honda when she failed an exam so that she would pass it the next time. He is very good at basic martial arts. When he is half asleep, he’s even harder to attack, because as his cousin Kyo says he’s ‘at his best’ in fighting at that time. Yuki also gardens, and eventually gets better at this as time goes on, so that fewer things die on him.

His curse of turning into a rat is gone now.

    strengths:

Self improving Yuki realizes that he needs to mend fences. Growing up his brother basically abandoned him and the two had quite the rocky relationship because of that. But as he grows and matures, he understands that he can't keep running away and mends fences, letting his brother help him. He truly is a strong individual who wants nothing more than to break free of the chains holding him down. Beneath that pain and hardship is someone willing to work hard to attain his goals and is a dreamer. So he'll bend, but he won't break. He still does his very best in everything that he can and continues to always move towards that far off goal of becoming someone he can be proud of and of finding a purpose.

Intelligent Yuki has no trouble in school in relation to grades. And his cousin Shigure knows how sharp Yuki can be in relation to figuring things out. Yuki is usually very good at just about anything he tries at, and helped tutor Tohru without thought so that she could retake her failed exam and pass it.

Kind He does have a kind side to him that many see but do not understand its full capacity. At school he is a nice person, not meaning to hurt those around him. More than once he has helped Tohru without asking anything in return, like digging out her things when a mudslide destroyed her tent of a home. More than once he's moved her belongings and helped her out when not even asked. And it is this kindness of his that makes him more than willing to step in and help the younger members of the Sohma family.

    (288 words)

    weaknesses:

Can't cook Everything Yuki cooks comes out dried.

Clumsy His cousin Shigure the dog of the zodiac said Yuki was too clumsy and couldn't even properly fold a paper crane. And when Tohru got injured, he tried to bandage her up thought it was very loose and didn't work well at all. And there was a time he couldn't even tie his tie correctly.

Past He is a lonely boy whose traumatic childhood has deep roots in his very being. The head of the family Akito Sohma tortured him, telling him that no one wanted him, and she said if anyone knew he turned into the rat, people would feel sickened and reject him. So he was isolated, locked in a dark room, and dealt mental and physical torture time and time again. And he's definitely the type of person that could be lonely in a room full of people.

No direction sense When Tohru moved out of the Sohma house and went to live with her paternal grandfather, she left behind his address in case she needed to be reached. So finally Yuki and Kyo went out to find her at the address. But instead they got lost and turned around because of Yuki refusing to hand over the directions or an address. He and Kyo ended up getting lost and turned around while trying to find Tohru's grandfather's address after she'd moved in there.

[A soft male voice comes over the PCD along with a set of confused amethyst eyes.]

    Hello?

    [A pause]

Is this on? Is anyone out there? Where did everyone go? Haru?

[A few buttons are heard being pushed and the sky is seen as the device clatters to the ground. The camera is picked back up and amethyst eyes blink at the screen. The teenage boy’s face is framed by silver hair which features long bangs in the front. The person steps back from the camera as they realize that the video has been pressed.]

I am sorry, but I'm afraid that I do not know where I am. I was just on my way home..and nothing looks even vaguely..familiar. I apologize for the trouble..

Yuki looked around him as he traveled through the snow. His body was still cold and he pulled the heavy cloak around him. The place had changed..no he had changed since he was last here. He'd said goodbye to the spirit of the Rat and had ended up crying in front of Machi though he hadn't meant to when he'd gone home. But now he was back in the place he'd been before.

But now as he trudges back towards the iced over landscape, he's more determined to make his way here. And while Yuki wasn't happy to be separated from Machi and Kakeru, at least he'd grown up and began to face the things that happened in his past with a small amount of courage. And he could do the same thing here, he could face the truth and even learn from it instead of running away like he'd felt he'd done before.

Yuki considered these many things as he reached the door. And upon going inside, his amethyst eyes only showed the slightest trace of fear that he wouldn't be welcome back. But as luck would have it, it wasn't a problem for him to be able to get his old room back. If he hadn't, he felt now that he could manage a little better on his own than he could the last time he was here.

He'd silently promised himself that he'd be more useful here, helping where he could and using his knowledge to do so as well whether in tutoring others or whatever it took. He would make sure that he would take care of every detail, checking and double checking before proceeding slowly and carefully with using that knowledge.

Yuki also promised himself that he'd learn more about plants and gardening too, maybe even learn to cook. He might not ever be a great fighter, but he could put his own talents and skills to use here, and help out while he was here, until he went back home.
